I believe if anyone else had made Olivier's dress, the judges would have hated it. I don't understand why they didn't call it boring. The top was awful looking to me.

I will never understand what the judges see in some of the finished dresses. I thought the reddish-orange dress was good. The designer should have defended it.

Just my two cents.

the dog bed dress looked ill-fitting and made the model look oddly proportioned and 30lbs fatter. The layering skirt looked haphazardly made and it wasn't even gradient of color but looked like two colors. I do not see how it won when he used just as much fabric as the guy with the umbrella dress. whatever.

Me too. I was very surprised it didn't.

The birdseed dress should have won this week.

So one designer uses fabric (the umbrella), gets ripped apart for it, and then gets sent home. Another designer has immunity, uses fabric, gets ripped apart for it, but is safe. A third designer uses fabric (the dog bed material with no modifications), gets praised, and wins the challenge. I understand that it also has something to do with the overall look and 'fashion', but why destroy the other two for using fabric when they could have just said they were being judged on how horrible they looked and nothing else. The judges on this show are so damn wishy-washy and clearly pick favorites early on. Like someone said above, had anyone else made Oliver's outfit, it would have been hated. I know that the judges know what they are talking about, but this episode was just filled with judging hypocrisy. Made me hate Oliver for no reason.

Very cool news about the All-Stars. I love Tom & Lorenzo's site. Their quote: "Precious Unborn Fawns" I believe that is a reference to the Artist competition show.

I only came across their site last week - I quite like it. Perfectly Bitchy!

LOL! Yeah, I read it at least once a week.

Well, the cute/pixie waif is gone. Dude with the shaped eyebrows/bronzer gets on my nerves. I'm not a big fan of team challenges.

Glad we got a quick glimpse of Swatch! :)

I like eyebrows. He brings a little fun.

Interesting teams. And Fallene was bound to be out.

BDB what did you think of the challenge? I'm tired of these gimicks. Glad next week is designing for Nina instead of making a complete wardrobe out of an old purse/ratty wig. LOL!

That terrible gimmick ruined the episode. This season is off to a bad start.

Bert shouldn't be on this show. He thinks he's better than everyone because he used to work in some top design houses. Well, that was then and this is now. He should be grateful for this second chance at a career. He really looks like he's just going through the motions while others are hungry to make it.

Wasn't a fan of the whole stilt walker thing - I mean what's the point? Not making clothes for a person is silly...

I really liked Bryce and Viktor's designs this week. Burt is an ass but his clique-ish teammates didn't help matters. Eyebrows/bronzer still gets on my nerves.

Anthony Ryan's design made me  Hangy track shorts with camel toe.

I'm rooting for Viktor and Kimberly.

Kors & Nina are clearly in charge of this show. Heidi wanted Mondo to be the winner from last year, but we end up having to watch wretched Gretchen be crowned champion. Heidi wanted Anthony Ryan to get the boot last night. Instead Kors and Garcia get their way once again. Heidi needs to start cracking the whip on those two.

I'm reading through Tom and Lorenzo's blog of the ep..

this is funny

Oh, and look a that; it’s the Privilege Olympics, where everyone who isn’t a man in his 20s doesn’t get to lead a team. Next week, the girls will have to do all their work in corsets and 4-inch heels while the boys can wear their pajamas.
It was certainly a drama packed episode. and Burt should drop dead. He's a huge fucking asshole!

Agreed. Heidi needs to wear a black latex dominatrix jumpsuit and yield her cat o' nine tails!

BDB: Thanks for posting Tom & Lorenzo. They crack me up! "Clinique Counter"!

Dude was a total bitch to Becky. Yeah, Burt can be an asshole (but everyone can).

Total BS that Anthony Ryan didn't get kicked off. His garment was by far the worst thing to go down the runway, on top of which his team completely failed and he was the team leader. Danielle on the other hand made a bad blouse.

I think I'm starting to like Bert. Crotchety old man who doesn't take crap from anyone. I loved the fact that his team had convinced themselves that Bert was going to sink them and had prepared arguments to throw him under the bus. Meanwhile it was obvious that he was the only one on his team that produced something that didn't look horrendous. It was funny watching Bert giggle like a little school girl as his teammates got eviscerated.

I hope there are not any more team challanges for a while, Beckey should have called Josh out for the little bitch that he is, and I think that Anthony Ryan is gone next week, Heidi says that eveything that he makes is BEDAZZALED, it was a cop out to have two winners, they should have sent two people home, and that was a butt ugly dress with the racing strip and the zipper on the outside of the garmet, it looked tackey and cheap.

clckworang 08-26-11 03:37 PM

Re: Project Runway - Season 9 - July 28

I also think Anthony Ryan should have gone home. I think Thrush pretty much said it all. He made the ugliest garment of the competition, possibly of the season, and was a total disaster as far as team leader goes.

I'm mixed on Bert. On one hand, I think he deserves some of the abuse he gets because he can be so grumpy and catty. On the other hand, he did seem to start this challenge genuinely trying to collaborate. He repeatedly got shot down. They would ask his opinion and designs, and he would tell them what he thought was wrong with them and get dismissed by his teammates for it. Under all those circumstances, I have some respect for the fact that he tried to stick to his guns as much as possible as far as his own design went and can understand why he was giggling while the judges ripped his teammates apart with the same comments he had given him. I can see where someone could see his actions on the runway as being a huge asshole, but I also see it as almost relief and being vindicated.

My favorite moment of the night, though? Watching Olivier eat it during the run. He really gets on my nerves, and I think the judges are crazy at how much praise they have given him in the past, especially the pet store challenge.

I was on Bert's side this week until he got bitchy on the runway. He should have just been happy the judges liked his outfit. Anthony should have gone home. I guess Heidi really is about majority rules. But, I would think she could have the final say no matter what. Or does this have the legal print at the end of the show saying producers have a say in who is eliminated?

I think they are designing with children this week. I wonder how Bert will handle that?

I'm expecting a nice cocktail dress for an 8 year old.
