Nobody has mentioned Walt yet. He rolled the dice and got exactly what he had hoped for everytime when playing Hurley. He went on to say his "dad" said something like he is the luckiest person he knows. Obviously this will play some part down the road...any ideas?

EEz28 12-08-04 11:36 PM

I was thinking the same thing, also due to the polar bear in the comic he was reading.

I was waiting for that steel to say Property of U.S.A on it, thats all i kept thinking

you are right. this is another "hidden" clue in tonight's episode. he was calling what he rolled. and you wonder how many games was played to have Hurley get to be $20,000 down.

I doubt it.

They could kill off Ethan, I'd say he's a pretty major character even though he's only recently entered the spotlight.

Funny, when I was watching it I was thinking the same thing and sure enough...

Ugghhhh!

Anyone notice the the little kids said my Other Dad? The kid either has a step dad or he has "Two Dads."

Yes, and? Why would Claire be on their mind when they were on the verge of possibly uncovering something of great significance?

I'm assuming they actually want the baby, but Claire obviously has to come along for now.

Why are the two mutually exclusive? Claire could have been taken to whatever area is underneath the steel.

Why hasn't Walt wished to see his mother again since she had just died. I would think that as a child who had just lost his mother, that would be foremost on his mind.

I also thought reviving the hobbit like that was a cheap television trick to shock the audience but with no consequences (losing a cast member). I would have prefered that went a different direction. Perhaps Jack wished him back to life :(
Anyway, I did like the exchange with Boone and Locke. Ever notice that the random guys that go down with Capt. Kirk or Spock always wear red and end up dead! Doesn't bode well for Boone.

outer-edge 12-09-04 03:00 AM

I think it's possible Charlie was dead. Jack's wish, at that moment at least, was to save him and get some redemption for himself ... and it happened. Not the first time people have gotten what they wanted. Plus, Charlie's acting a bit strange. Understandable for the circumstances, but this could signal a chance in him as well, if the event affected somehow. Probably just the simple, sappy moment it was however.

My wife is also firmly in the belief that "they" want the baby for exactly the reason the pyschic wanted to keep it away from others and wanted Claire only to raise it. Perhaps "they" had forknowledge of all this, or helped cause it, or just got lucky?

Speculation and confusion continues ...

Michael is the kid's biological father; the father that he referred to as being lucky was his stepfather.

Chew 12-09-04 06:04 AM

I was really hoping they would've taken the ending one step further and had them open a hatch, shine a light and see a ladder leading down well beyond the reach of their flashlight.

Locke's comment about Captain Kirk:

Roto 12-09-04 06:12 AM

Boy, am I glad I recorded this so I could pause it after Sawyer called Walt Tattoo! rotfl I needed a minute to regain my compsure after that one!
"What is your fantasy?"
"I want to roll double sixes, boss!"

As for Charlie being strung up, the only thing that surprised me was that he survived because these damn threads keep mentioning a major character is going to die. I'm glad he survived, because I had no reaction at all when I saw him hanging there other than to assume he was the one. From now on I'm just going to assume anything the creators, writers, or producers of Lost say to the press is all lies! I can't hear you! LALALALALA

This was a really good episode, but considering the impact of what was going on I could've used a little less of Jack's backstory. I got the idea last time that his dad was a drunk.

What really cracked me up about that was Locke trying to act like he didn't watch Star Trek. Puhlease

I agree 100%. Plus, wouldn't his neck have been broken since they hung him?

Best quote was when Walt tells Sawyer, "Why would anyone lie about their name? That's just stupid!" rotfl

I can't wait till the show resumes again but I'm still definitely gonna rewatch the reruns cuz I missed 2 of those episodes.

EEz28 12-09-04 06:59 AM

So Walt was raised by another dad, ya think this has anything to do with the psychic telling Claire no one else can raise her baby? or just a coincidence

What happened to Sun and Jin, they wander off into the woods or something?

Walt is black = good
Future baby is white = Bad (but if raised by Claire it wont be bad)

Battle for the island/Earth will wage between these two

ok im reaching, but its fun to make crap up

Or perhaps Ethan is the baby. Some sort of time warp thing going on.

Either he is lucky as he indicated or is another example of the island powers.

And what was Hurley's crack about him being a "hunter" back home?

My guess is that he is a Dungeon and Dragon's player, or a big gun in some video game.

Booth 12-09-04 08:06 AM

Put my vote in the "Island Saved Charlie" column. After all, this is the island that allowed
Spoiler:
a wheelchair-bound man to walk
.

I remember last spring, when they announced the production of Lost, it was described by some of the producers as "the island that Rambaldi built". If you follow Alias, this tells you quite a bit and explains why Charlie's miraculous recovery is less of a cliche and more of an important story development.

Actually it was warrior not hunter.

Crap ... here I've avoided bringing time warps into my assumptions but now you've implanted them there. ;)

Another thought we had was Ethan as the Frenh woman's son. I don't believe she knew his fate for sure.

Chew 12-09-04 09:06 AM

It seems we get further and further away from "scientifically possible" with each successive weekly thread.

Mazje 12-09-04 09:08 AM

Ok, just a couple things, and I don't know if they have any significance or not.

One, I've always thought of Hurley as kind of being Jack's "sidekick" or "right-hand man." He's always doing what he says, and treats him as their leader. Whereas Walt has obviously always looked up to Locke, and practically worships him. In the first episode, Locke refers to "two sides, one dark, one light" playing the game...was the scene between the two foreshadowing that those are the two sides being formed? Jack being "light" and Locke being "dark."

Item two: Jack's last name is Shepherd? Make of that what you will.

Additional note: I've been watching under the theory that Locke is going to be bad guy for a long time now, and completely expected him to gut Boone with his knife after the "red-shirt" discussion.
