Pretty sure just going back and watching the previews one could tell if he's wearing the same beat up wife beater or if it's a flashback. He'd look a lot different 15 years ago as well.
It never even crossed my mind that it could be his flashback in the previews. But now that it has been brought up, it is more likely than them revealing anything about the island yet. I think they want the viewers to get to know and like everyone before they start the killing. Stephen King style.

I saw Evangiline on Dave last night. It was really good. She mentioned this was her first speaking role and that she was flying back today to start filming again. Dave showed one of her commercials for a phone chat line.

If you mean the Korean husband, that is his name. They did do his backstory, along with his wife; didn't you see the episode about the Korean couple a couple of weeks ago?

Too bad her acting skills doesn't match her looks.
She's my least favorite character on the show. For some reason I just find her annoying as hell. And the love crap between her and Jack is IMO unbelievable, especially her overreacting when Jack got trapped in the caves.
Still a great show though.

I think she's doing pretty damn good. This is her first speaking part, as a main character in a highly rated prime-time show.

Huh? I practically lived on peanut butter during my pregnancy. From all the reading I did, it said to only avoid peanut butter if you or the baby's father are prone to food allergies.

The wife had peanut butter all of the time, too, when she was preggers.

yea saw that but i got the impression that it was more from the wife's POV rather than the husband's. I'm just wondering if they'll show his back story more or if he'll have more character development.

I came here hoping that there would be some agreement that
Spoiler:
everyone died in the crash and these people are "lost" souls who need to resolve the choices (for good or bad) that they made when alive,
but supposedly that is the one option that isn't true (according to published interviews), so that leaves only one other option
Spoiler:
that this is the delivery side of Fantasy Island, and everything they come across is just leftovers of Mr. Roarke's efforts; and soon we will see Herschel Bernardi or Ethel Merman coming over the dunes...

It supposedly increases the chances of the child having a peanut allergy. Wife is a nurse and is always reading some kind of medical book, especially when she was pregnant. But everyone is different. Better not to take chances though on something that big.

Quake, is the preview you saw the one they showed after the episode? Because I've seen it a few more times and with the quick cuts I'm sure they are trying to make us believe what you are thinking. But the more I see the preview the more I think it is Sayid's flashback.

The backstory from the Korean couple is from the wife's POV because I doubt the husband has any clue about the wife learning English and having a plan to disappear from the face of the earth (without the hubby, not with the hubby).

Spoiler:
I saw the preview for next week, and he is wearing the dark blue tank top as he is tied to the table, when he says "what are you doing?" So I don't think it's from a flashback.

Why have the dropped the whole monster plot-line. Sure there are boars on the island but that sure wasn't a boar shaking those trees or pulling Weiss out of the cockpit window. It wasn't the polar bear either (pulling him out). Speaking of the polar bear, how it got there has not been mentioned sine they shot it.

As much as I love this show, I'm in agreement.

It would seem that knowing there is some huge fauna-shaking entity that can pull a pilot out of a cockpit and lob up into the trees out there would be in the forefront of those in the know.

My guess is once we get backstories of the main survivors in the open, the plot will reintroduce the whole "thing in the jungle" in time for sweeps - though the 11/17 ep looks like it could be a move in that direction.

That is, if the preview is not a
Spoiler:
flashback for Sayid

It's like the X-Files did with the whole alien conspiracy story arc. It would disappear without a mention for weeks, and then during sweeps it would rise up again.

No, it's the one airing now. Something about the island's greatest secret: they are not alone. I am now 100% sure it's the French woman or some other person and not a flashback.

As for the "monster", the producers said it would take a backseat starting with episode 3 to allow more character development.

Outstanding episode, I think it was Locke that wacked Sayid over the head. He's the only one thus far that believes in the miracles being set forth by the island and his obvious, It must be Sawyer speech made it even more obvious.

Loving this show more each week.

I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, we haven't "seen" the monster since Locke encountered it by himself. I'm hoping that has some significance.

As far as Locke being the one who hit Sayid, I think that's too obvious. And I believe the next scene after he was hit over the head was of Locke talking to Charlie in the caves.

it's probably just me, but i think the show is moving a little slow... i don't really care too much about the character's backstories, i'd much rather learn about the island and how they interact w/ each other on the island than having whole episodes devoted to their pasts

Yeah, who needs character development?

But if they do that then when they start killing off people why would you care? You have nothing invested into the characters. It would be pretty boring WITHOUT the character development.

As for the flashbacks, how else are you going to get to know the character? They could have a fireside chat every week with a different character telling their name, where they're from, what they do, what their favorite ice cream is... yada, yada, yada. Pretty boring.

I like it the way it is.

Yeah, I agree, I watched it several times, and
Spoiler:
he'ss wearing the dark blue tank top, and before that he's hiking through the jungle with the SAME backpack on his back, and he looks exactly the same (I went back and forth from the end of the ep to the preview)
