I have never seen 24, but based on the great buzz here and elsewhere, I bought Season 1 during Amazon's recent $14.99 sale. My first blind buy.
The wife and I saw the first episode last night. Our collective opinion was: "eh, ok, I guess". Does it get better as the season continues? At what point should I expect it to really grab me?

The first 13 hours of 24: Season One are the best of the entire series. After that, there's a lot of hit and miss with the plot contrivances and the need for a shocker at the end of every single episode. Overall, there are more good episodes than bad.

I'm guessing, since David Palmer won't be back as President, that the plot will involve a conspiracy with the new President behind something major. Remember, the guy that was running against Palmer before he dropped out wasn't against using unscrupulous methods during the election.

When did 24 ever "when" the Best Drama Emmy? As for the rest of your statement, it's too easy to respond to.

thanks Pac.
Half the shots in it are from previous seasons though. One of the shots is of Nina. Doesn't matter though, it gets my blood pumping anyway.
Come on January. And it should be broadcast in HD this year. double

Thanks for the link PacMan, very much looking forward to it. Only two more months, and only one more month until the season three DVD that has some sort of new mini-episode for the next season.

Realize that one of my favorite shows is The Wire. I also enjoyed Carnivale. I'll ride out the characterization for a good storyline.
I understand your frustration with the lowest common denominator driving network TV programming. I assume this is the souce of you ire. This is also the reason I bought the boxset. Weeknight TV is a wasteland.

The first episode is just to ramp you up to the characters. Watch all of the first disc, and if you don't like it after that point, you can safely stop watching.

Do you also complain when TV networks cancel shows after airing only a handful of questions?
