Regardless if the band started playing the wrong song, does she not know enough of her song to sing it again to save the performance?

Or wouldn't it have been easier to just stop and restart with the right song? Doesn't take much to say "Hey wait, wrong song"

If anyone has even seen 5 minutes of her show will realize this girl can't sing a note to save her life. It's pretty obvious why she needs the "backing vocals".

What would be even funnier is if the wrong song starts playing for Eminem when he's on this week. On a side note, I thought he was hosting too. What happened with that? Anyway I doubt anything will go wrong for him, but I've seen rappers lip-sync before (Puff Daddy on the VMAs when he performed with Sting is just one example) and they sometimes use bands for live performances. So it could happen. I don't think Eminem lip-syncs though, but still it would be funny to see him freak and start cussing everyone out on live tv.

Back to Ashlee, I seriously wonder if this will really have that much of an impact on her career. Even though she's tried to have more of a "rock" image I still lump her in with all the other female pop singers. I know that might be harsh, because at least she does have a solid band backing her. But I would have been much more surprised if this had happened to someone like Avril Lavigne or Michelle Branch. They don't do a whole lot of moving around on stage from what I've seen and usually both have a "just stand at the mike and sing" style, but at least they always appears to be singing live.

I wonder if this ordeal will be on the next season of Ashlee's show. I'm curious to know what happened backstage after she blamed the band for the whole thing.

Ashlee Simpson will be performing for the upcoming Radio Music Awards, airing live from Las Vegas on NBC October 25 at 9 p.m. Ashlee meanwhile is moving on with her next single, which will be the title track from her debut album, "Autobiography." She'll shoot the video for the song November 1-2.

She and Jessica could do a spread together.

I wonder if they'll do a skit based on this incident next week. I could see Rachel Dratch playing her...

I have heard that, years ago, stores would have these displays with a small animal -- like a chicken or something similar -- that would dance every hour, on the hour.

The thing is, they didn't train these animals to dance, but instead, put a hot plate under the floor of their little cage, and would turn it on when they wanted the hapless creature to dance. And as the poor animal's feet would burn, it would cause it to frantically hop around to the delight of onlookers.

So it makes me wonder if the producers of SNL don't have a similar set-up for when something like this happens.
