And Jeph Loeb should know better!

Excellent Episode
Definately one of the finest episodes of the fourth season. The interaction between Clark and Bart worked nicely. Bart is an arrogant troublesome jerk (He is the Flash) but I was impressed on how he was presented in the show. The scared runaway angle was quite appealling. Great effects. The way that he outrunned Clark proves that he is definately the Fastest Man Alive. Lots of good references and quotes.
My favorite: "Maybe I'll start a club or a league or something."
I was most impressed with the ending. Fun and heartfelt. I hope that they might bring the character back. Would like to here Bart say:"Clark, we're not alone".

Bottom line is that the Flash is faster than Superman simply because of the introduction of the Speed Force post-Crisis. Now all Flashes (past and future) can tap into the Speed Force, but supposedly Wally and Bart's Speed Force abilities are far higher than Barry, although it's tough to test since Barry is dead but still living in the future before he went into the past to destroy the Anti-Monitor's machine (confused yet?).
Anyway, Wally and Bart (when properly trained) can drain people of their speed via the Speed Force, basically augmenting their speed by syphoning it off of other Speed Force characters. Plus they can go forward and back in time basically at will, something Superman is incapable of doing.
I liked this show, although I am still a bit disappointed they chose Bart as the character and not Wally.
And whoever did the spoilering tags for next week's episode is right on with what happens.

Remember folks, the people at SMALLVILLE do not have carte blanche access to all DC characters. DC might be reserving Wally West/Barry Allen for other properties. Same with Bruce Wayne, etc..
So Bart Allen is a composite of all Flashes into one character? Big deal. It was a great episode regardless. The essence is what counts, and they made it work. So bra-frickin-vo!!
Just consider it Elseworlds, duders.

Great episode - hope we see Bart again.
Actually, I'd still love to see an episode where a few Legion of Super-Heroes members show up - since they're teenagers, they'd fit right in, no? The Superman cartoon did this a while back, and it was a great nod to the fans, while it could still be enjoyable to the rank and file viewer who knew nothing of the 30th Century.

I'm still waiting for the Legion to show up and show Clark his future.

If Wonder Woman is currently licensed out for other TV/movie/animated properties, it would **extremely** difficult to get Diana's breastplated bosom on Smallville.
Personally, I'm pulling for an appearance by the Legion of Super-Heroes. Since Superboy/man was the inspiration behind the 30th-Century team, it would be a perfect nod to those Weisenger stories of the past to have Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy, and Saturn Girl visit Smallville and make an appearance. Certainly being teenagers, they'd fit right in.

It must be some kind of running joke (between the writers) to incorporate a shower scene in each episode.

Uh, welcome to comics 101. Barry Allen died saving the world. His grandson, who carries the Speedster genes is Kid flash. Before Bat was kid flash and while Barry was the flash, Wally west was kid flash and later when Barry past, took up the Flash name. That is the DCU. There is a teen version of the adult in most cases to carry on that name because the heros will eventually get to old to carry on the task. Teen Titans is all about that. You have Wonder Girl, superboy, Robin. It's not stupid at all. Shit, there's been three robins. One grew into his own role as Nightwing, one died and the current robin is still around (We wont count spoiler..)
Doesn't seem stupid at all.

Meanwhile, talking about how sexy Lois is this seems like a good time to bring up:
Brodie: It's impossible, Lois could never have Superman's baby. Do you think her fallopian tubes could handle the sperm? I gurantee you he blows a load like a shotgun right through her back. What about her womb? Do you think it's strong enough to carry her child?
T.S.: Sure, why not?
Brodie: He's an alien, for christ sake. His Kyrptonian biological makeup is enhanced by earth's yellow sun. If Lois gets a tan the kid could kick right through her stomach. Only someone like Wonder Woman has a strong enough uterus to carry his kid. The only way he could bang regular chicks is with a kryptonite condom. That would kill him!
Which, now that I actually think about it seriuosly, doesn't this make Lois one of the most torture characters in all of comics? I mean she can never have any physical intamcy with Clark. Imagine his sexual frustration as well. I seriously doubt this will ever be brought up in the comics though - too much of a touchy subject for print.

Marvel is a lot better at this, and i always preferred to have one alter ago to identify with versus 3.
