I just mentioned it two posts above yours.

man, after just one episode, i am definitely hooked. i can't believe this show has garnered all this discussion already...

i just can't see how the "creature" can be explained without sci-fi... just too weird.

I think everyone is reaching a bit much so far.

So you assume it was the polar bear before. We don't know for sure.

*whoosh*

That was the sound of you missing the sarcasm. Several people have already pointed that out. ;)

The kid also saw the JSA fighting the polar bear in the comic book. Where were they? If a spanish speaking Flash and Sentinel show up, your theory will be proven.

Big Boy Laroux 10-04-04 02:40 PM

and flash with the winged helmet, too. can't be the newer flash.

Ted The Bug 10-04-04 02:52 PM

I don't see how the polar bear can be the thing that ate the pilot OR the thing that was making all that noise and making the trees shake. There's obviously more than just polar bears on the island.

dilligaf 10-04-04 02:55 PM

just a thought i had...

maybe kate is or was a ranger/agent as well. even though she was being coached by the iraqi guy she sure did dismantle and unload that gun with relative ease and apparent knowledge.

and also the ranger with the shrapnel in his stomach said something to the effect of maybe you can convice them of your innocence like you did me. although his tone was rather sarcastic so i dont know

anyway...

Big Boy Laroux 10-04-04 02:59 PM

the polar bear was not the "monster"

charlie even says as much. he is asked if he thinks that is the thing that killed the pilot, and he says that, no, that thing was quite a bit bigger.

goLUCKY 10-04-04 03:53 PM

I think that the monster is a
Spoiler:
crazy elephant.

As for the show I'm finding it very entertaining.

Right.. it has to be a spanish speaking Jay Garrick. Just so we're clear.

I'm in the mad scientist gone wrong camp as well. My main reason for thinking this is because I believe the message that was being played sounded like it was being sent out to someone who would have some knowledge of what was going on. Another awesome thing is in one of the interviews one of the creators said that one of the people we have already seen may not have been on the plane that crashed. That's very, very interesting to me.

Big Boy Laroux 10-04-04 04:59 PM

Quake, i agree...

Spoiler:
i think the guy with the scar on his eye, playing backgammon may have already been on the island...

He ran forward to get to a bathroom, but if you recall, the bathrooms at the front were all full/locked. He then snuck through the galley or something similar to the other side/aisle of the plane and ran back to the back of the plane, and it was a bathroom there that he was in. He then ran out of the bathroom when the turbulence started and scooted a few rows up and sat down. I remember Kate said something about how "the tail fell off" of the plane, so Charlie must've been in one of the last few rows in the chunk that landed on the beach.

Also, we don't know for certain if the plane broke just into three (the tail, the cockpit section, and the main section on the beach) large parts. Might've been more.

maxpower 10-04-04 05:54 PM

actually ...the bathroom he ended up using was the one near the cockpit as..it was implied he retrieved his stash from there while Kate and Jack were in the cockpit.

And I'm wondering, why does it count in english, but she is speaking French. Wouldn't she have a French speaking unit?

maxpower 10-04-04 06:52 PM

If i'm not mistaken ...english is the defacto language for aviation and marine travel..therefore distress calls would be in english.

No, he went into the bathroom to USE his stash. He might've been looking for a place to stash it in the bathroom before the crash, but he didn't stash it there because the turbulence started.

Someone said somewhere (some other thread?) that that's why he wanted to go to the cockpit (to "retrieve his stash"), but there's no proof of that. I think he's just got the nervous withdrawal energy that makes him volunteer for every outing (including the one to get the radio to high ground)... he said something to Jack about wanting to do something rather than sit around at the beach.

Michael Corvin 10-04-04 07:21 PM

dude, he dropped his stash in the sink BEFORE the turbulence started. He didn't want to get caught with it. He had his hand on the faucett handle to wash it down when the turbulence started. So when they went to the wreckage, he thought he might retreive it because it never got washed down. Oh, and the restroom was near the cockpit.

I think Kate is innocent. Wrongfully accused. Maybe the marshall framed her.

That would be a pretty big secret to tell the boy as well.

maxpower 10-04-04 07:38 PM

exactly what corvin said...actually i just watched the episode this afternoon...so it is fresh in my mind.

Ted The Bug 10-04-04 08:35 PM

I think that's a mistake then. Charlie should have been in that cockpit section, not with the rest of the people on the beach.

And after thinking about it, I now think it's very likely that Terry O'Quinn was already on the island before the plane crashed, and just walked over to the beach when it did.

Jackskeleton 10-04-04 09:09 PM

Orange dude was on the plane. You can see him in the seat behind the black lady. So his secret he is telling to the kid is not that.

Think about this. The plane was leaving sydney australia and heading to America. Unless it's a vortex, worm hole or whatever else, they landed somewhere inbetween. Why was the message in french? and what could be powering that message for 16 years? Unless there is some solar power or some bunker producing this signal from.

Charlie tossed the drugs into the toliet right when the rumbling started but didn't flush them. he got out and took a seat in the middle. He could have been tossed back there.

I'm thinking that the fat kid is the one that walked onto the site when the crash happened. He looked a little out of it and he asked "what crash?" when first meeting him. Could just be totally out of it.

you are indeed correct, english is the offcial language for aviation.

beckham 10-05-04 01:46 AM

This may seem totally screwed and weird but does everyone believe that everyone is "on an island"?

not sure what i mean and I don't think I am talking about alternative realm or anything?

Jackskeleton 10-05-04 03:43 AM

There's no doubt in my mind that it is an island. The question is what is the purpose of the island?

I'm going to venture a guess that this is all some rat trap. A sort of ultimate game of survivor where they pit their experiments against human bait. The crash was hinted in interviews as being set up on purpose and not being an accident.

Looking around lost-media gives you some pictures of upcoming few episodes..
