Your first suggestion would be one of my guesses too. Who's to say they didn't take the polar bear back to eat? We haven't gotten that far in the story yet.

Remember, you don't have to outrun the monster. You just have to outrun the person you're with. :D

That trick only works once....though there is alot of him. The monster might get full.

Whoa! Now we definately gotta move this to Mature!

I think the Korean couple(?) storyline will be interesting as she begins to pull away from the domineering guy, becomes more independent, and starts to fraternize with the westerners. I'm a sucker for the "you go girl" moments - like when J-Lo beats up her abusive husband in "Enough" (I've seen that section of the movie at least a dozen times, and the rest of it once)

Yup, I thought it was a Sig as well.

The kinda guy that can kill w/o hesitation, but has given that all up. And right now he's just laying back resolving himself to the fact that he's gonna have to start up all over again. Unfortunately I think he's gonna get axed not long into the series. An not just cause that's how it looked in the pre-view. Terry's never lasted that long in any series. That's why I like him. It's like rooting for the underdog.

After he did the whole, "One light, one dark" speech to the kid I thought he was going to go into some white power speech and burn a cross in front of him.

OK, not really, but the thought did briefly cross my mind. :p I'm sure their conversation is going to come into play next week.

I think this is going to be my favorite show this season. As long as it doesn't turn out to be some hippie liberal preachy tale. The second after I saw the polar bear I was thinking "This better not be some stupid thing like their plane crashes in some wormhole/time warp and they get sucked into the future and their island isn't a normal tropical island but the Arctic after global warming or some stupid shit like that"

I hope thats not true

Usually I watch everything from a Tivo point of view, so the commercials don't bother me. But since people have been raving about the HDTV aspect of the show, I watched it live last night on the West Coast. And I must say that having 3 commercial blocks in the first 22 minutes was very irratating.

I am almost ready to go back to my Tivo and watch it 3 hours earlier from the East Coast feed and skip all of the commercials.

Dude, wormholes and alternate universes aren't science fiction, they're science fact. Don't you read Discover?

Doesn't somebody on that island want to build a shelter yet? Everyone's going to get sunburned pretty soon.

This show is pretty good....

It's like Survivor with a plane crash and coked up polar bears!

Coked up polar bears don't act like that. Wouldn't they be on PCP instead? :D

Considering the skill, care and precision he was displaying in choosing and cutting the fish, I'm guessing this is his job back home and he's trying to make himself useful.

The polar bear: It was in the comic book that the boy was looking at earlier in the episode.

The island: It is going to be like the planet in Star Trek that creates fantasies around your thoughts. It created the nightmare creature from the collective unconscious of the castaways fear, and the polar bear for the little boy. Wouldn't surprise me if his dog was what it really was or used to be.

The little boy: Will save them all by using what he finds in the comic book and the island's abilities.
And the FBI agent's DVD of Hot Chix From Da Big House explains Kate.

Anyone think its a Bermuda Triangle spin?

sven 10-01-04 03:26 AM

Wrong side of the planet for Bermuda.

OK, so I take it you speak Korean, excellent! :) Can you translate for us, maybe? Couple of times, like when the guy was bringing the food around, and when he interacted with the pregnant woman, and especially when the Korean woman was talking to Kate while Kate was out in the water: what were they saying??? :) I know, we can guess the gist, but any specifics you can give us? :)

The entire two-hour pilot will re-air tomorrow night.

Just watched this tonight. Few observations:

1. I *love* Michael Giacchino's score to this show! Its definitely the one thing that seperates the aired version apart from the internet-leaked version. (In fact, I'm pretty sure that there is no difference in footage)

2. This is definitely one of those shows that was meant to be seen widescreen. It just looks so cropped watching it on tv vs. the widescreen internet-version I saw. Makes we want HDTV even more!

3. The place where the first "episode" ended was not meant to be a commercial break in the 2 hour version. It just flowed from the shot of the pilot to the girl sunbathing.

4. I think they are planning on showing the fat guy slim down over the course of the show. I'm pretty sure I've seen the actor before and he's not quite that large. I think they are using padding and make-up to make him bigger than he really is.

5. There was a definite continuity error that others have pointed out: The 3 people that go to the cockpit return saying that there was no survivors, but then later on it's the french-speaking girl's brother says "You think that's what killed the pilot?"

6. The blonde guy fired 9 rounds into the Polar Bear. Does anybody know how many bullets that type of gun would have in its clip?

7. While it hasn't been shown yet if the Korean couple are husband/wife, brother/sister, cousins, co-workers, or anything else yet, I did notice a wedding band on the male's hand.

8. Evangeline Lilly (Kate) is the HOTTEST actress to come out of nowhere in a long time! I'd take her over the sunbathing sister, the pregnant chick, or the korean chick any day! :)

She has one as well. Seems very much husband-and-wife.

16-21 rounds in a p226 magazine + chamber(if 9mm).

swisher59 10-02-04 05:36 AM

i had to drop my ten cents (my two cents are free)

quibbles about the cast:
1. kate (which looks like niki taylor before she tore her liver and half) is hot. but the whole criminal with a heart of gold thing is weak. just cause she's hot i hope she's not an angel, cause that's so unrealistic.
2. oh c'mon with the korean couple. i'm so sick of media portraying asian men as domineering and old fashioned. if she gets rescued by a white man who battles the korean guy in a kung-fu ring of fire deathmatch, i'm never watchint TV again. but i sense he's trying to ally with the others for some insiduous reason (keep your friends close, your enemies closer).
3. an IRAQI REPUBLICAN GUARD?! just how did he up and leave iraq and get the cash to fly an international flight if he's not one of saddam's sons? i think it would be more likely he's wearing sandals and carrying an AK somewhere outside of tikrit.
4. maybe the badass shot the bear in the dome(?)
5. that iraqi guy had really good math to do it in his head. but when i heard 16 years i got chills, nearly pissing myself. if there's no sci-fi, i really want to see how they explain this one. genetically engineered giant polar bears? this better not be 'deep blue sea'

and with that, goodnight
