picked these up on other sites...!
--- KOREAN TRANSLATIONS Michael: Hey, have you seen my boy? Korean Lady: I'm sorry, I can't speak English [blank staring] ... I can't speak English. Koreany Dude: Your shirt's open, close it! Quickly! Michael: ... Kate: [washes] Korean Lady: Excuse me (my korean ain't hip enough to give you 100% here, but yeah ... this is it in a gist, she might have also been saying something akin to "excuse me, miss" , but everything must be ready, they're all looking (for you). Korean Dude: Hey you! (Or, the Korean equivalent to 'yo', actually) This is food, try one. Hurly: S'up? Korean Dude: This is sea urchin, it's really delicious. Try one. Hurly: What, that? Korean Dude: If you eat this, it'll give you some strength, it's okay to eat. Hurly: What, eat that? Korean Dude: *Eat it*, there's plenty, just - just *try* one ... Hurly: Dude, dude ... I'm starving ... Korean Dude: Yeah, yeah yeah ... (this makes me think he understands English) Hurly: But not that starving. No thank you! Incidently, there are certain ways to talk in Korean, you can say the same thing but depending upon certain words you add or don't add it can totally change the formality or the ... politeness of the words. Korean Dude is pretty polite to Hurly at first, if you notice he says "yo" at the end of each sentence - but as Hurly rejects him he gets a bit more abrupt, or less formal with him - language changes a bit. No more "yo", yo. Also, he never speaks "politely" or respectfully towards his wife. Korean Dude: This is *sea urchin*, try one. Pregnant Lady: Er, nooo ... thank you. Korean Dude: It's really important you eat this because of your baby, just have one. Have one. (I really don't think he was trying to poison her or anything here, because why would he tell her it's important she eat for her baby's sake if she doesn't understand what he's saying anyway?) Pregnant Lady: [eats one] Korean Dude: This one, yes ... eat it. There you go ... good isn't it? Have another one. Pregnant Lady: [spazzes] Korean Dude: What ... Are you okay? Are you okay? Pregnant Lady: OMG FEEL THIS PLZTHX Korean Dude: No, no, I don't want to, I don't want to ... Oh .. Pregnant Lady: Do you feel that!? Korean Dude: Oo ... I don't like it. Pregnant Lady: That's a foot! That's a kick! Korean Dude: Hand ... hand ... let go of my hand, will you? --- --- FRENCH TRANSLATIONS: "Il sont morts, ils sont tous morts" ---- they are dead, they are all dead... "Venez nous aidez" ---- come to help us... "Je vais essayer d'aller jusqu'au rocher noir" ---- I am trying to reach the black rock... "Si qui que ce soit puisse entendre ceci" ---- If someone can hear this... "Il les a tué... Il les a tué tous" ---- It kill them, it kill them all "Il est dehors, et Brendon a pris les clefs" ---- It's outside, and Brendon (or Brennan, may be Brenda, it's not very well-pronounced) took the keys... --- |
OOOoooh, the "black rock", interesting.... and someone took some keys? I wonder if our group will find keys first, or a locked door first?

Can anyone post a screen capture of the comic book?
Somehow I missed the Spoiler:

Nice translations, BTW, thanks for posting them! |
Yeah those translations were awesome .

Those translations lead me to believe even more that the island is some sort of research/experimental facility. Otherwise I'm not sure what kind of key she would be talking about.

Originally posted by Jeremy517 He referenced that in the message you quoted. yep i just think even though she was being told what to do, she had to have done it before to "pick it up" that quick and easily. It was almost all done in one deft motion IMO. |
Ok, let's look at this more seriously. Here is the list of the main characters:
Jack Kate Charlie Hurley Boone Shannon Walt Sayid Michael Sawyer Locke Jin Sun Marshall Black Lady Now, let's eliminate a few suspects: Jack - Seen on plane. Kate - Seen on plane. Charlie - Seen on plane. Hurley - ???? Boone - Not seen on plane, but sister talked about plane seats. Shannon - See above. Michael - Not seen on plane, but talked about being on the plane. Walt - Son of Michael. Sawyer - Talked about Sayid on the plane. Sayid - Talked about Sawyer on the plane. Locke - Someone said they saw him on the plane, cannot confirm. Jin - Not seen on plane, but can pretty much eliminate. Sun - Same. Marshall - Seen on plane. Black Lady - Seen on plane. Of course, this is all assuming that we actually have seen someone who was on the island pre-plane crash. Can anyone else confirm Hurley/Lock/anyone else on the plane? With regards to Charlie, he was definitely at the front of the plane. You can tell because the beverage cart was rolling towards him while the plane was going down. My guess is that he was in a first class bathroom, but had to go back one section to get a seat. I say this because the conversation between Jack and the flight attendant in the first ep about the old lady getting Jack's seat in first class leads me to believe that section was all full. |
Although Locke (Terry O'Quinn) is the character they're making sure has "creepy vibes," I thought I saw him clearly in the middle of the plane in the first flashback of Jack's, around the time he's getting the drink bottles...
I was surprised to see him there, as I'd already heard the rumor that someone might not be from the crash, and was already thinking of him... I can't confirm, though, as my copy is already deleted. I'd be grateful if anyone else can check that first flashback for Locke... |
Originally posted by Jackskeleton Charlie tossed the drugs into the toliet right when the rumbling started but didn't flush them. he got out and took a seat in the middle. He could have been tossed back there. Also, I'm sure it was the rear of the plane, because FIRST he ran forward, THEN he cut over to another aisle and ran down that aisle. When he ran forward the first time and found the bathrooms all locked/in use, if he was going to run down an aisle (not a few feet, but at least several rows), he must've run to the back of the plane. It's a logic thing, really. :D |

thx for the comic pic, Bob

Originally posted by shoppingbear Yes, exactly, but it wasn't the toilet, it was the sink. He didn't LEAVE them there, that's my point. :D EDIT: And for what it's worth, the editing makes it appear as if he only crawls a couple seats back, which would put him in the cockpit section from the first half of the pilot--yet the cut from nearly being smashed by the cart to crawling to his seat has him clearly going through a curtained section that was itself several seats back from the glass divider and the bathroom he enters, and arguably the point at which it seems that part of the airplane split (judging by the cockpit scene from the first half). So I guess a case could be made that Charlie just barely gets back beyond that point of safety, however obscured the editing might make it. |
That came out better than my cellphone screencap.

great pics.
as for charlie and where he was, why do you think he volunteered for the trip to the cockpit, then was "missing" for a second, and came out of the bathroom? he stashed the drugs in a bathroom near the cockpit. maybe he made it far enough back that he wasn't close to the cockpit when it broke up. but the show didn't do a good job of showing that. it looked like he came out of the bathroom and went straight to a seat. |
Yep Charlie is definitely going towards the front of the plane the entire time. In the unaired cut, he is seen crawling through a curtain to the seat he takes, which makes me believe even more that there were no empty seats up in first class.

Best show ever!!!
Well, only because it had a JSA comic in it... :D |
