I doubt I'll buy it considering there's only 6 episodes. I don't know how a tv show can call its run a "season" with only 6 episodes.

Much respec'.

I think that's the standard for british shows, even though this is technically the american version of a british show.

How does he get these interviews? I mean Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump, Boutros Boutros-Ghali. That's hilarious.

I've wondered the same thing. I thought that they might be in on it, but then why would men of their stature even bother with a show like this? The Boutros Boutros Boutros Boutros....Boutros-Ghali interview was the best. He was very cool and took all the sh!t Ali threw him in stride. Now C. Everett Coup on the other hand?

One of the main talents of Sascha Baron Cohen and his crew (I know he has one main guy he works with) is there ability to read a people and a situation and say/write the right things to get people to do interview. Working for the BBC gets you a lot of leeway as well. I know that they would write, sometimes, elaborate letter on official BBC letterhead about sometimes doing a six part documentary about the American constitution or that it is an educational program for children. Sascha also arrives in a full suit and only changes into his getup a few minutes before the subject comes in.

As for the DVD, the first season has been available in Europe (thank you amazon.co.uk) for quite a while under the the title "Ali G in da USA". I don't know if most shows have short season, but with the type of stuff Ali G does, I am sure it is extremely hard to come up with an entire season. The use only a fraction of the footage they have. Personally, while I long for material, I would rather not have a 12 episode season with mediocre stuff.

As for his cover being blown, while I think HBO is giving this a lot more promotion than season 1, it is still very low on the radar. Most people still don't even know who he is. Also, he was HUGE in britain and still continued with his own 1 hour show for quite a while. If you can, download some eps or get the DVD's from amazon.co.uk. His guests know who he is and yet it is still f-ing hilarious.

Having a party tomorrow for the premiere. Can't wait

Da Ali G Show 7/18/04

I thought this was a great season opener! Laughed most of the show.

The interview with Daryl Gates was great, asking him tips on drug muling, and calling him Bill Gates!

The highlight for me was with the clergyman who helps homosexuals recover - nisch nisch!

Same here. Sam Donaldson had some great reactions, though.

I was dying when it took Borat 5 minutes to figure out how to pick up the wine glass.

That was f-ing HI-larious! I nearly fell of my couch.

Donaldson's rap after the credits was pretty funny too.
