So what did people think?

Kind of short (to be expected), but overall pretty good. I thought they were killing of Captain Atom in the first episode, but no such luck.

I like it alot. I was never a big fan of the DC universe, so I only knew the main characters. It's nice to see alot of the secondary ones.

Funny to know that had George Eads lost his job on CSI, he could've fell back on voicing Captain Atom.

I think the animation even looked better than it previously did.

The only negative I can see with this format is the lack of character development like we had previously with GL and Hawkgirl.

I liked GL's new look.

The theme music and the music used in the episode were pretty bad.

The story was a bit simplistic, but hey they didn't have much time to work with.

Nice character interaction though. I liked it overall. Is there a list of all the heroes shown in the background of the episode?

I'd love to see that list. I didn't recognize any of them, since I don't know any DC characters.

Captain Atom sure is one sorry Superhero. One little tear in his suit and there is the possibility of dying.

Overall it was pretty good

Seen in the background were (from memory, as I just cleared it from my Tivo):

Aquaman
Huntress
Vixen
Crimson Fox
Mister Terrific
The Atom
Elongated Man
Wildcat
Booster Gold
Obsidian
Rocket Red
Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E.
Waverider
Aztek
Black Canary (nice nod to Green Arrow continuity there)
Thunderbolt
Steel
Blue Devil (maybe)

Great episode. Short but sweet. Green Arrow is my favorite comics character ever, so I was just kvelling with joy.

There's more but suddenly I

Hmmm, while I didn't see the ep, I didn't know CA wore a suit.

I thought I saw the Silver Captian Atom from the Justice League Europe of the 90's int eh promos? Isn't his silver body invulnerable to damage? I do remember a CA toy from the 80s that was different from the silver body....

The girl Batman and Arrow were gawking at right at the end of the episode...was that Supergirl out of her costume, or another Superhero I didn't recognize?

I thought that's who I recognized. I wonder if they just threw Waverider in there for fun. I don't see him being used in any episode. Then again...

I don't think that the "communist menace" would still be an issue in a time with hundreds of superheros.

Not bad. I'm more of a fan of Marvel comics so i didn't know any of the heroes in the background and only familiar with the name Green Arrow. Decent episode though.

Black Canary cameo was great since the long history between her and green arrow. Very nice episode. Saw a lot of characters in the background. I really look forward to the Unlimited.

This Capt. Atom is weak. In the DCU he's one of the most powerfull heroes.

Haha, I enjoyed this comment over at aicn:

"Oh my god..I saw Vibe. Vibe. The shittiest, suckingest, most annoying, stereotypical, post-trendiest, lamest, ignorant, scummiest, most ****ed-up member ever to be in the JLA. And he, the one-and-only-thank-the-gods Paco "Vibe" Ramone showed his ****ing shitty assface in JLU*. I love it!!! Hey, ithis show IS a DC fanboy's wet dream come true!!! *How bad is Vibe? In the JLA/Avengers cross-over...he was dead!!!!! That's how bad!"

Somebody also linked a pic gallery of new JL figures. I recognized most of the cameos on the show, but I was surprised that I didn't recognize one of the action figures. Anybody know who this is?

Much of the the plot was borrowed from #181 & 182 of the first JLA series, published back in 1980. I loved those comics as a child, so I was happy to see that they obviously made an impression on the creators of the 'new' show.

The only minor gripe I have is the presence of Supergirl. I haven't read the comics in several years, but she seems to be very young and out of place around the older members. Maybe she'd fit in better with the Teen Titans.

Booster Gold.

In post-Crisis DCU, Supergirl isn't a Kryptonian, she's some sort of alien Virus/Matrix thing.

Possibly not true for Supergirl #489 if recent events in Superman/Batman are to be believed...

I liked the first episode of JLU even though the story wasn't particularly exciting. It sure looks like they'll be able to pull off the huge ensemble cast. Hopefully, they will sneak in a few episodes with just last season's core group, too.

What happened in #489 of what?

So we saw Booster Gold, could Blue Beetle be far behind?
