I have always thought that while Jeopardy may not be feeding Ken the answers ala Quiz Show, they have been pitting him up against some easier contestants to beat and maybe even throwing in a few categories that they knew he could burn through quickly and jump forward in his scores. These past couple episodes the contestants have been more formidable, IMO, and the categories a tad more difficult for Ken to master. I hope this trend continues, because it makes it feel like a real game instead of the majority of the episodes where Ken just smokes the competition, and if he wins, it makes it a tad more satisfying to the viewer than if he just left some poor player with 400.00 and the other with 1000.00 while he wallks away with fifty thousand.
And does he ever say in his interviews why he simply refuses to beat the one day total? He has more than enough opportunities. I assume he doesn't want to break all the records, but hell, for a few extra grand in my pocket, I would get over that real quick.

He tried to shatter it a few days ago and missed the question. I suspect he skirted it a few times because he wanted to set the record before FJ.

i actually tried yesterday though..
jeopardy use to come on one channel, while wheel of fortune was on the other.. at 7pm..
then at 7:30.. wheel would rerun on the channel jeopardy had been on.. and jeopardy would rerun on the channel that wheel was on..
I didnt get a chance to tune in till 7:35.. and wheel was on both friggin channels

I wonder if we will see promos during the week in general that Ken finally loses that "this is the week to watch folks". I remember that when Regis was doing "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" that my friends began to see that if something really big was to happen in a particular week they would see major news promos about it in advance else they knew they could skip the show that week(I guess they were casual fans).

So, when the outcome of the game is no longer in question, you're essentially betting your own money. Let's say some guy comes up to you on the street with a trivia question about, say, New York governors. He wants you to put up $10,000 of your own money on the answer. Do you take it? Even if you think you're pretty good at this kind of thing, do you really want to risk lots of your own money, money that would otherwise be yours to keep, on the question? Maybe. Maybe not. It depends on your confidence in the category, how badly you need the money, and lots of other variables.
There have been more than one time he's really done well in the game, even one where he got like 50,000.00 before FJ, and he bet low amounts each time so he never broke 52,000.00. Viewer frustration aside, there is no good reason to do this unless he just doesn't want to break all Jeopoardy records. And if I was at 50,000.00 going into FJ and knew I had a 80% or better chance at knowing the answer, I sure as hell wouldn't worry about breaking the 53,000.00 score/
