Lessee. Let me name the finalists first.

Babylon 5: The Coming of Shadows, Severed Dreams, Sleeping in Light

Star Trek: The Trouble With Tribbles, City on the Edge of Forever

Star Trek TNG: Yesterday's Enterprise, The Inner Light, Best of Both Worlds 1

Moonlighting: Atomic Shakespeare, The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice, Big Man on Mulberry Street

West Wing: What Kind of Day Has It Been, Two Cathedrals, and all the various big block of cheese episodes

Sports Night: Smoky, Ten Wickets, What Kind of Day Has It Been (yes, Sorkin loves this title), Quo Vadimus

MASH: A War For All Seasons, Cementing Relationships

Seinfeld: The Contest

Spy Game: With Friends Like These (a show that about seven people watched)

My So-Called Life: So-Called Angels

Buffy: Once More With Feeling, Lie To Me, Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered (whatever the title is)

Barney Miller: Atomic Bomb

Others I thought of included episodes from Alien Nation, Max Headroom, Twilight Zone, Night Court, and others.

When it comes right down to it, no hour of tv has ever affected me emotionally like Sleeping in Light, so I have to go with that, with the incomparable brilliance of Atomic Shakespeare second.

I'm so hesitant to ever declare something the greatest (or my favorite) episode of all time, especially something so relatively recent; but like you say, nothing's ever affected me like that -- not even 'The Body' -- and I wonder if anything ever will.

Magnum PI - Limbo

I wouldn't have minded if this became the series finale.

Black Adder II: Beer

Black Adder III: Dish and Dishonesty, Ink and Incapability

Babylon 5--can't remember the names of them, but there were several episodes (probably those already nominated) that I thought were fantastic. Same for Farscape, in a lighter way.

Buffy-- Life Serial (strangely, my favorite episode even though I know many are more acclaimed. I think it's the identification I felt for the nerds, who can argue over the best James Bond in spite of all the other stuff going on (and it is Sean Connery. . . .). Also, Jonathon has a magic bone; that has to count for something. The Gift and Once More With Feeling are other favorites.

When you see a movie, do you remember what it was called? How about when you read a book?

Another great part of that episode (and somewhat forgotten since it doesn't really feature Shatner) is the lost ending to It's a Wonderful Life.

forgot the lost ending to It's a Wonderful Life is on that episode too. Wow.

Two Swiss accounts were in his name.
Diverted funds, but who's to blame?
We may never know just what's he's seen.
That's why he's called The Mute Marine

While I'm not great at recalling all the episodes I love, here are a few that I recall.

Once and Again - Gardenia
Buffy - Tie with The Wish, Dopplegangland, and Earshot.
Moonlighting - Atomic Shakespeare

Those are the ones that I can think of at the moment.
