Curb Your Enthusiasm - "The Car Pool Lane" - where Larry picks up a hooker so he can use the carpool lane to get to the game on time and when he gets his father some medical marijuana. Absolutely hilarious!

Spoiler:
There were television shows before 1990

Good lord das, I'm almost twice as old as you, that's depressing. I didn't watch much TV (besides Cheers and Hill Street Blues) until I went to college in '86, so that's really my point of reference.

Here's a few older titles I really liked

Moonlighting "Witness For The Execution" (and of course "Dream Sequence")

Taxi -- "Cooking For Two" & "Simka Returns"

Fawlty Towers "Basil the Rat" (aka "The Health Inspector")

Cheers - "Old Flames", "Simon Says" (John Cleese again), and a special spot in my heart for "The Visiting Lecher", since I went to the filming of that episode

China Beach : "Tet '68"

And believe it or not, the 1986 William Shatner episode of SNL. That was a classic.

"And next up is Pamela Denberg Doohan, the ex-wife of course of James 'Scotty' Doohan, and I understand life with the Enterprise's Chief Mechanical Officer was somewhat turbulent ... kinda like living with a MUGATU! Yeah! Well you'll all be able to meet Pamela in the Briar Wing where she'll be signing copies of her new book, Beam Me Outta Here!"

And my personal motto, taken from that very episode: "There's a whole world out there! When I was your age, I didn't watch television ... I lived!!!" Words to live by ... words to live by.

Oh yeah... Star Trek used to be good. I had forgotten that.

Buffy: "Earshot"

Not the best episode of the show, by far, but the closing shot cracks me up every time.

Fawlty Towers: "Communication Problems"

Babylon 5: "Severed Dreams"

All I can think of at 3AM.

Ah yes, that was hilarious! The counting of the bolts one, I mean...

"Measure of a Man" sounds familiar, which one was that? My fav ST-TNG episode was the one where a probe causes Picard to live the whole life of a man on a distant planet... I still think of that, especially the final scene with the friends and family, and the final scene of the episode with him playing the flute.

I agree with a lot here (especially Vitameatavegamin!! ), but to add a few:

Ally McBeal: the one where Robert Downey Jr.'s character sings a song he wrote to her (loved their relationship), and another episode where Ally is representing one side of a legal battle where a poor man wants to give his healthy heart to his sick richer friend... I think it was a crossover episode with Practice? Excellent, excellent dialog in that one.

:Designing Women: the one where Charlene goes to meet Bill's family, and the dialog she has with Bill's mother in the dining room, or the one where she meets him (she thinks he's not a real officer, then dreams they're both back in WWII), or (funniest one) the episode where the redesign a nudist colony. I LOVE that show, still!

That's all I can think of at the moment... I agree, it's hard to think of great episodes in dramas... also, it's hard because there are many great MOMENTS, but not overly great episodes... I LOVED the Friend's episode where they won the apartment, but wasn't impressed with the whole episode, just that one scene, if I recall correctly. Still hilarious, though!

Band of Brothers: Part 5 - I heard "Crossroads" is the least favoured episode by majority. I thought it was quiet unique from other episodes; had warmness, simple flashbacks and in-depth exploration of characters. It also had two companies of SS shot the hell out of! I just ignored the historical concept and went for viewing pleasure (pure violence). Bejesus!

National Geographic: The Last Feast of the Crocodiles - One of documentary based episodes I guess. Hippos, crocodiles, a lioness, bees, birds, baboons, gazelles and other animals I can't name all live around a small pound. It was hilarious, fascinating and scary. A crocodile snaps on a head of baboon but escapes with a fight and hippos licking/slobbing on crocodiles. The ending was wonderful and fulfilling, equivalent to such films like Shawshank Redemption. :P

The Simpsons - This is the craziest and hardest of them all. Can't choose between The Flying Hellfish and Bart being Mr. Burns' son.

As for the closing line from the "Zen" Taxi episode:

"The great thing about television is that if something important happens anywhere in the world, day or night...you can always change the channel."

Seinfeld-"The Strike"

"A Festivus for the rest of us"

It's hard to laugh for 22 minutes solid but I gave it a good run.

When the U.S.S. Enterprise arrives at the newly established Starbase 173, Data is ordered to serve under Captain Bruce Maddox, who wishes to disassemble and study him so that more androids can be made for Starfleet's use.

But after Data learns that Maddox may not be able to reassemble him, he refuses to submit to the procedure. When Captain Picard is unable to have the orders changed, Data's only option is to resign from Starfleet. His decision to resign, however, is challenged by Maddox on the basis that Data is not a person with rights, but property of the Federation.

The J.A.G. (Judge Advocate General) officer of the starbase, Phillipa Louvois, an old acquaintance of Picard, rules that Maddox's contention is supported by a twenty-first century precedent. Picard announces that he will challenge that ruling at a hearing. Insufficiently staffed, Phillipa explains that as senior officer, Picard would have to defend Data, while the next most senior officer, Riker, would have to prosecute. A stickler for the law, Phillipa warns that if Riker does not give his best effort, she will summarily rule in favor of Maddox.

Faced with no other choice, Riker must contend in his prosecution that Data is simply a machine - the creation of man - and dramatically emphasizes his point by approaching Data from behind and switching him off, leaving him lifeless in his seat. Certain of his defeat, Picard has a discussion with Guinan and she suggests that the Federation's desire to create and own a race of disposable androids is the recreation of slavery...
This is my favorite Star Trek episode (from any of the series) and probably the most libertarian episode of all the Star Trek programs. It's not surprising because it was written by Melinda M. Snodgrass who is a strong libertarian and author of the Circuit trilogy of novels (which I recommend). Snodgrass also served as Story Editor and Executive Script Consultant during parts of Seasons 2 and 3 and left because of creative differences with Gene Roddenberry (who was very unlibertarian).

the season finale of Season 2 ( I think) for Melrose Place when Kimberley comes back from the dead and you see her standing outside of Michael's beach house. That was the greatest episode for that show.

Yeah, that's one of my all-time favorites, also. Even my gf likes that episode and she hates Star Trek with a passion. Wish I could remember the name of it.

Taking away the no-multi-episode option took away my favorite entries (D-Girl, Turnaround, and Showtime - the L.A. Trilogy of episodes) from Law & Order.

Also featured "The Mute Marine" if memory serves.

Plus, the classic (and I never watched Star Trek) "I need full relish!"

I love "The Mute Marine" ... those little movements where Shatner (North) acts like he's about to say something while the chorus is humming are priceless. "He's one part man, one part machine. He's Ollie North ... the Mute Marine."

Another great part of that episode (and somewhat forgotten since it doesn't really feature Shatner) is the lost ending to It's a Wonderful Life.

That Shatner SNL might be my favorite btwn the ST Convention, Enterprise Restaurant, and the TJ Hooker spoof.
