i think u guys are being too hard. two weeks ago you were all jumping for joy about how "24 is back to its old roots" and how great everything was, now all of a sudden "this shows not what it used to be" i think this season is far better than season 2. big deal, its a bit over the top. so tony made a quick and rash decision to save his wife,he had 30 seconds to think, maybe if he had more time to think about it he wouldve made a different choice. i dunno, i enjoyed the episode, no it wasnt as good as the episode with chappelle, but i still thought it was great and one of the top shows on tv.

Do people really think this episode was worst than last week? Last week was terrible. I didn't mind this one. You have to remember each episode isn't self contained, so the guy on the motorcycle could come into play sometime next week. Same thing with Saunders getting out of the building safely. That could change.
I still don't understand what happened to Jack's addiction.

For example, Chappelle dies because why? Those in tactical situations don't even understand simple game theory?
How the President's conversation should have gone down with Saunders.
Saunders: What is your answer to my demand to deliver the dead body of Ryan Chappelle.
Palmer: The answer is no.
Saunders: If you don't, I'll unleash the virus.
Palmer: yep, we heard you the first time, we just don't believe you.
Saunders: Why not?
Palmer: Simple. You didn't go through all of this trouble and effort and expense to kill Ryan Chappelle. If you wanted to do that you could just have done that yourself.
Saunders: Are you willing to take the chance that you are wrong?
Palmer: Yes. It's quite simple. One, you are a madman who is going to use the virus no matter what we discuss or agree to. Two, you're sane and have gone through a lot of trouble in order to get something accomplished that is really important to you. And you are not going to piss it away on a demand for Ryan Chappelle's death. So unless you want to tell me, this conversation is over. Clear?
And now we're suppose to believe in some sort of tatical code red where people on roofs are suppose to abandon their posts as street level squads storm the front of the building? Please.

people bitching about Jack's heroin addiction. Now I've never done it, or known anyone that has done it, but...
Exactly how many times does one person need to shoot up in one 24 hour period, I know he at least has already once this 24 hour period (I missed the first couple eps.) Now I'm sure a normal addict doesn't shoot up much more than once in a day, now take in the fact that Jack is trying to save the country right now, I think he has more on his mind than getting his fix.

I was thinking about that the other night, I hope Jack (or whoever) goes to another CTU field office. We know their is at least one in New Orleans (from Season One).

You would think that with the number of times people keep getting taken hostage while in transport (it happened what, 5 or 6 times in the first season?), they would offer a little tighter security. Jeez...

Decent episode overall, however, this season just isn't grabbing me like the first two did. Some of the dialogue is just terrible, and the plot gets too silly.
How many episodes are left? I don't remember what 'time' it started at.

Theres 4 episodes left. It started at 1pm.
I was just thinking today how silly it was that Michelle got captured while CTU was transferring her from the hotel to the other place, and that NOBODY knew it happened until Saunders called Tony. lame.

I just watched the episode last night. I still love this show. If you simply embrace the ridiculousitude it really is a lot of fun!
ctyankee - you're absolutely right, Palmer's capitulation to Saunder's demand that Chappelle be killed was the end of any semblance of "reality" in this show. Your analysis is right on.
I will never ever be able to watch Keifer Sutherland in any other role without imagining him out of breath, yelling "There's no time!" or "I need you to trust me!"

I just watched the last 3 episodes last night. What a moody bunch we have here! You ought to know by now that you can't nitpick 24. If you're going to do that you may as well quit watching it. At least it's not boring like the first half of the season was. I was about ready to quit watching it. I still don't like Palmer this season. Someone needs to put a hit back out on him. He was far more interesting then.
I wasn't all that shocked at Tony giving in. Jack killed his boss, not his wife. It's a little different.

I finally got around to watching this episode of 24 and I'm disappointed I waited this long. I apologize for bringing this thread back to the top, but I just had to make a couple quick comments.
This might have been one of the best episodes of the entire series (for me), simply because I laughed so much during it, more than most sitcoms on television today. But I go from laughing, to that feeling of tension at times.
I am realizing more and more with every passing week that this show is funny. I don't know if its intentional, but I laughed so hard at the conversations between Chloe and Tony, or Chloe and anyone for that matter. Elisha Cuthbert's acting (with Saunder's daughter during the car trip) is so ridiculous and I almost want to believe she's doing it on purpose but I know she isn't. Even Palmer had some "fun" lines this season, although I don't think he's that bad of an actor.
Now take some of the bad acting, and stack it up against Kiefer's stuff (which is "straight" and seems more serious), and it produces a wacky mix of styles and all around fun! I can jump from being all tense for some situation in 24, then have some silly comic relief because of the classic lines from Chloe or Tony.
I love this show because, among other things, it makes me laugh.
