well, this was a bit of a letdown after last week. still good, though.
I wonder if terrorists watch TV and think it would be this easy to infiltrate the country and release a virus.

Thought it was okay, but a letdown after the previous hour, which thanks to my DVR, I watched in the actual previous hour. Not too bad, though.
Gotta love my alma mater getting some prime-time exposure like that. I wonder why they didn't prominently feature any of the numerous cougar traps that are littered all over the campus though

It's been doing it more and more often to me now. I'll get to the TV and find that I have the blue screen that says no audio/video is being received. I then have to switch channels to get the feed back on.

This episode seemed like they were trying to break as many laws as possible. The President santioned the murder of a govt official, CTU kidnaps a girl and denies her counsel. Even if they do manage to save the country, I can't see how Jack or the Pres can return next season because they both should be in jail.
My favorite part was when one of the cabinet members asked 'What did Saunders do when you refused to kill the agent?' I understand the whole greater good thing, but having Palmer order someone killed just seemed way wrong. And where do Jack and Chase get off with trying to shield Kim?

Wasn't some of the cabinet members the same from last season? I thought after the President was reinstated they all resigned from the cabinet. Or was that just the ones that voted against him?

I kept waiting and waiting and waiting for Kim to say to Jack "You're just going to have to trust me"
I actually missed a little at the end. I saw Kim get taken out of the library, it went to the 4-way split screen, then my local news jumped in!! When they finally realized they had been a bit premature and went back to 24, the guy who had Kim at gunpoint was on the ground.
I assume all I missed was the struggle and Kim shooting him?

Of course, it goes without saying that Keifer was fantastic in this episode. His lack of visible remorse over Chappelle indicates to me that this isn't the first time his character has had to execute someone for his country...
Did everyone catch when Tony said to Chloe that "Jack's not coming back to CTU"...he said it as if to say Jack's not EVER coming back...did I miss something, or is Tony referring to the fallout from the breaking Salazar out of prison deal earlier this season?

I was enjoying the top that Kim wore for the decoy duty as Jane, much better than Kim's CTU-wear.
I kept waiting for Jack to say to Jane:
"Your father blackmailed the President, with the release of a super-contagious and deadly virus, to have me kill a fellow CTU agent whom I worked for and respected, and I did the deed just an hour ago, what makes you think I won't do that to you, a pissant's daughter? Now tell me how to find your father!!!!"

Come on... the show has a BLACK president. Can't you suspend your disbelief for any of these other issues?
While on the subject, Jack also broken a federal prisoner out of a penitentiary a few hours ago....In any case, I think that your problems are likely to be resolved based on the "ripple effect" problem we've seen Tony talk about at CTU (which BTW shouldn't that be a CDC responsibility?)... I don't think there's any way they can completely contain the virus now. Next season may well be a "post apocalyptic" 24. Then they can change as many characters as they want and open a whole new can of "terrorism". Anyone else think that might be a cool direction to go?

First of all, I think Chloe is one of the most annoying characters ever to appear on any television show in history. Period.
Second, here's my prediction (not based on spoilers or previews, just from this episode):
The virus is starting to spread, out past any logical way of containing it. Plus, Saunders has vials in several other cities. It's a virus that kills 90% of everyone who contracts it. So, either the writers of 24 are going to take it up a notch and start killing innocent civilians by the thousands...or, there's a cure. And only Saunders has it. And CTU or Jack is going to force his hand by either threatening to expose or (more likely) actually exposing Saunder's daughter to the disease.
Because, really, it's either that or this season ends on one hell of a down note.

Last night's ep, was actually pretty decent, IMO. I'm glad that the Kim plotline won't be drawn out over several episodes like in season's past.

darthlurker - I agree, I think Jack is going to bring Saunder's daughter to one of the target areas to force Saunder's hand.
I thought this episode was tense from beginning to end, I really enjoyed it. And the show has definitely turned a corner with Palmer ordering Chapelle's death. Palmer has being doing some really un-Palmer-like things this season. He became much more Machiavellian. Two seasons ago he wouldn't break the law to save his own son from a murder charge, now he's killing his own people and covering up the murder of a political rival (Milliken).

Chloe is the one character who everytime she speaks I think she's going to end it with. "I'm going to tell!"

Her dialogue and character are so over-the-top, I can't help but think the writers are doing it on purpose. The only reason I can think of is to take some of the fan hatred away from Kim, because honestly Chloe has replaced Kim as the most annoying character on 24.
I was thinking that too. Especially when Chloe was giving Kim her little "I admire your energy" pep talk. All I could think of was how annoying Kim had been in seasons' past, but I still wanted to see Kim just haul off and smack Chloe upside the head and tell her to shut up.
Maybe Chloe will end up being a secret mastermind behind all this, and everyone at 24 will get to shoot her.
Also, from the "Whatever happened to..." department: Besides Jack's addiction, what about Chase's baby?
