Never seen it. Is it as good as "The L Word" ? I hear QAF is about upscale people whereas TLW is about everyday people, so it's easier to relate to the problems and quandaries of the characters. In other words, isn't QAF more Melrosey place?

Ok..... (show discussion follows)
Spoiler:
I'm at the part where Jenny is telling Marina that everytime she looks at her she becomes dismantled... so Jenny first tells Marina to pretty much leave her alone and now she's disrobing in front of her? If I were Marina I'd be like, honey, you are as confusing as a calculus theorem... decide what you want in life first and then call me." Jenny just wants her cake and to eat it also. She wants a monogamous straight relationship and a wild lesbian relationship... how would she feel if Tim were doing the same thing? She'd be crushed. It's not about straight or gay... it's about respecting that you accepted somebody's marriage proposal and you should do something about that before you go disrobing in front of someone else.

So... I don't think I respect Jenny that much the more the show goes on.

Deb,

I agree about Jenny... the way she deals with things is very immature, and it gets worse as the series goes on. By the end of the season, she was my least favorite character. But I still love the show...

The L Word : First season vs Second season

Hi

I watched the first season and after a few episodes I was really engrossed with the characters. I definitely enjoyed the show.

Then I watched the second season.

It's me or is the second season weak and much less interesting ?

The L Word--"LGB Tease"--01.06.08

Great premiere. Then again I am a bit biased because I love the L Word and have been waiting for its return for a year. Anyway, thoughts on the first episode?

The L Word

I've been watching the L Word on netflix. It's a show about lesbian. No come back. Calm down, come on back its not what you think. This show is full on hot women showing off boobs and bush. Sex scenes in every episodes. Guys will love this. Not sure if the ladies will like it but who cares. Guys go check it out.

I've watched every season of this show. Along with lots of boobies and lesbian sex scenes, there's lots of good melodrama too. Season 1 is the best though. Some of the story arcs in later episodes are kind of bizarre. But, the good news is the girls only get hotter and hotter.

Hate to tell you, but the show is aimed at the ladies - you obviously don't think there's a substantial lesbian population out there.

As for guys watching ..... that's just a bonus (no pun intended) for the ratings.

Well there isn't a substantial lesbian population. hmmm well I guess that would depend on what you considered substantial. I think it is more that I would not presume to know what shows lesbian like. As far as I know lesbian might hate this show for the way it portrays women. Or they could all love this show as far as I know. I didn't take a poll or anything but it seems my taste are substantial different than the average lesbians around here.

It's called THE L WORD

LESBIANS are the target demographic

no thinking required

when it comes to hot chicks making out, straight men and gay women have the same taste

Did Anyone else watch "The L Word"?

For a dissertation I've been writing the last several months I watched the first five seasons of "The L Word" all through November and December. I'm just now gearing up for the series finale. Any other DVDtalker's secretly followed the show?

I think I watched the first 2-3 seasons. I didn't realize they had 5. I lost Showtime and so wasn't watching anymore. I thought the show was decent, but helped by some great looking women.

Re: Did Anyone else watch "The L Word"?

My wife loves the show, so I started watching with her about two seasons ago and got caught up. Well written. Well acted. STUNNING looking women on the show, but it really does go beyond the titilation factor.

Unfortunately last night's series finale was BEYOND FUCKING TERRIBLE. Very disappointing.

I agree that the finale was lackluster.

Is it just me or they never quite answer the main question?
Spoiler:
Are we to assume that Jenny just fell off the rails and no one killed her? Why were the cops asking the women a bunch of questions that had nothing to do with Jenny?

Yeah, I personally thought the series finale was nothing beyond a steaming pile of horse crap.

All it did was ask more questions, without providing many answers to the already floating question.

As regards to the sixth season arc:
Spoiler:
I really don't know what to think about Jenny's death. But my current theory (mostly because of how annoyed I was at the final episode) is that the dog tripped her as she was coming down the stairs in those insane heels

Re: Did Anyone else watch "The L Word"?

In all honesty, here's what I got:

Spoiler:
NOTHING got resolved. We knew from the start that Jenny was going to die, either murdered, accidental, suicide, whatever. The entire season was rattling off every major character saying something akin to "I'm gonna KILL that Jenny Schecter!!!" -- always in the heat of anger, of course, and in all likelihood, not literally. Every character had a "motive", though, which made the season somewhat compelling.

Instead of a resolution, we got open-ended, unresolved nonsense. Was it SUICIDE? Could have been... her "final message" on the film seemed like she could have been saying goodbye to everyone, but there was NOTHING all season that would lead one to believe she was maneuvering herself towards that endgame. If anything, she seemed like she was trying to solidify her relationship with Shane, she sold a treatment (one she ripped off from Alice), it looked like this wasn't the action of someone wanting to off herself... UNLESS she was doing all her horrible actions this season on PURPOSE, in order to get all of her friends angry at her, to despise her, so that when she did off herself their remorse wouldn't be as profound as it would have if she was friendly, supportive, etc.

Was it MURDER? All signs point to the actress hiding in the bushes (forgot the name), but even then it was really ambiguous. When the police fished her out, she was hysterical. Was it because she was caught? Or because she found the body, worried that people may have thought she did it, and fled and hid? Every other character had reasons to kill her, but they all seemed to be hanging out with each other all night and it would have been way out of character for them to commit actual homicide on anyone, let alone a close friend... even one they were SEVERELY pissed off at.

ACCIDENTAL? It was mentioned about a zillion times that the railing wasn't finished yet so everyone had to be careful on those patio stairs. Good possibility of a drunken, accidental slip-and-fall. But to what dramatic purpose? I think this is the least likely solution.

And then to fade to black, run credits, and show slow-mo closeups of each of the women walking towards the camera, grinning as if something definitive and final had occurred? That was weak. The wife and I were hurling obscenities at the screen, because we felt cheated by the episode. It was a slow build to a non-climax. It's a shame they had to end things that way.

Although the more I think about it, I'm buying the suicide explanation...

Re: Did Anyone else watch "The L Word"?

Spoiler:
Wow, I hadn't even considered the idea of a suicide.

I figured since they kept hammering home the thing about the railings - and that Jenny was the only one who wasn't around when they warned the others about them.

But then the last time we saw her, she was on the patio with Tina and Tina was threatening her, so who knows? Then add Nikki in the bushes, weird.

But if she fell, wouldn't everyone have heard a large splash as she hit the pool?

I wanted to see what happened with Lez Girls - did it get released? The final shot of them all parking and walking made me think it was them going to the movie premiere but then they never resolved that either.

Re: Did Anyone else watch "The L Word"?

Spoiler:
See this is my problem with the last episode, it left sooooooo many unanswered questions. I really wanted to know what is going to happen with "lez girls" and everything else - but nothing was resolved. I still think the dog did it.

But at the same time there is something about how the women are all looking in the final segment. Did they really all share a secret they where going to hide, or was that just a one-off moment so the actresses could have a final bow? I don't know.

Has anyone watched the interogation tape of Tina on sho.com? Apparently there gonna be posted webisodes up until the premier of "the Farm" (which is weird because last time I checked showtime hasn't even officially greenlite "the farm" yet)

Re: Did Anyone else watch "The L Word"?

Why are you all spoilerizing your thoughts the day after the episode aired? Edit: Nevermind, I got it now. That's nice of you to keep it spoiler free for the OP.

Re: Did Anyone else watch "The L Word"?

I guess I was spoilerizing it because I know a lot of people don't get to watch the show during or right after the episode airs because they don't subscribe to showtime.
