I watched the encore presentation last night of the 1st episode. The board room meeting at the end was CLASSIC!
Trump: Sit down, Sam.
Sam: Thank you mister Trump.
It was interesting hearing Jason say that Troy's downfall as project leader is that he made rushed decisions without listening to the team's input first. Ironically, Jason as the next project leader did the exact thing he criticized by not listening to Troy's urging to meet with the Marquis Jet execs.

My girlfriend's words:
"That wasn't a negotiating contest. It was a shopping contest."
I agree. The only thing that resembled "negotiating" was when that one girl said "I'll buy that golf club for your cost plus 10%".

"and if that doesn't work we can go in the back and 'discuss' it further"
That's not an exact quote but it's the vibe the women were giving off.
As for next week. It looks like they use Kwame's real name and people, being the lemmings they are, just assume he's famous. Athletic looking black guy signing autographs..he must be famous!. Like PT Barnum said, there's a sucker born every minute.

FYI - looks like Apprentice is moving back to Thursdays. Apparently it got crushed by American Idol (why on earth I have no idea) on Wednesday. Therefore, the NBC Thursday night lineup will now be:
8 - Friends
8:30 - W&G
9 - Apprentice
Note that these times are rounded to the nearest half-hour. I'm sure NBC will continue their hokey +/- 1 minute scheduling. I wonder what makes NBC think it will do better vs CSI?
Scrubs will be moving to Tuesdays at 9:30.

It's not just Sam who crashed and burned, it's the whole damn guys team. I mean come on, how the hell do you not sell stuff to girls at a discount when they have Katrina juggling her 36Ds in front of you? Unless of course you're gay, and I don't mean lesbian.
Episode 3's just another fine example of sex sells, or in this case buys. Poor guys. It's obvious they'll all get burned and the girls will have a undefeated season.

why didnt anyone use the tv coverage as a negotiating tactic. i mean, they showed his shop from the outside. they should've just pointed out that to the owner, that its free publicity in exchange for a free gold bar. i mean, 400$ bucks saved right there.
and who the *&^%% pays 80$ for a leg wax.
and there were only 10 items. there was no need for a home base. give each person 1 item to buy and thats that. and it was a shopping contest like someone else pointed out.

After watching the first two episodes, I was rooting for Sam. I'm also a short, young-looking guy that has had to work hard for respect in the business world. It's been my experience that most people don't consider your age or business experience when you're short and look young. They automatically think you are a little kid. When I graduated college, some people still thought I was in high school. You have to work harder to gain respect. So, I understand Sam's attitude.
However, Sam is an idiot. He started off pretty good, but then his behavior just became bizzare. All he had the right idea of sending the guys to Chinatown to get most of the items, but then paniced about having to go buy the gold.
If I had been on this show, I would have just let the others tell me what they wanted me to do for the first two projects. Then when it was my turn to be Project Manager, I would have had both groups - including myself - go the cheapest part of town to buy the items. My biggest strength is in delegating work, but I'm not afraid to get into the mix. I guarantee you that we could have found a shop that sold a knockoff of that Big Bertha club for much less. I also liked the idea another poster had about telling the businesses that they were receiving free advertising so why not give us the items for free.
I also agree at this point the women are only selling sex at every turn.

They had to get the exact items, as they appeared on the cards. Cheap alternatives, such as a knockoff Big Bertha, would not have worked. However, I agree with you. The places they chose to shop at had ALOT to do with what price they were able to negotiate. The guys got blown away with the leg wax and golf club especially. Both of the guy's places (the salon and golf store) looked very upscale and high-class compared to the women's choices.

I very much doubt that. As I said before - Donald has a stake in the success of the show. He knows that contestants like Ponderosa and Sam press other people's buttons and he knows that people will continue to watch to root against these people. I'm not saying Ponderosa and Sam will go to the end, but they will be kept around for at least a little while longer for ratings.

Son of Sam: When I get home, my family greets me at the door. I will stay here until they do the same.

Also, could we keep the next episode preview info within spoiler tags????

Each team has to run "Planet Hollywood" for a day and whoever rakes in the most money gets the reward, while the losers go to the boardroom.
Maybe it's just me, but it's getting painful watching the guy get slapped around in the "competitions" and yes, the women keep using the sex appeal card once again (though they do get reprimanded for it, it was a slap on the behind).
The other thing about the show that bothers me is the manipulativeness that happens because the final decision rest with the Donald, so he can string along the more "TV-genic" meltdowns like he did with Sam. Bowie got the boot, though Nick threw in the towel once Troy and Kwame started their scamming to sell store paraphenalia by presenting Kwame as a possible pro athlete.
At least they shake up the format a little next week...

After watching these episodes attentively, I'm hard pressed to find anyone that I would offer my $250,000/year head of a company job to...
Shooter girl???
Barbarella???
Katrina would cry during a staff meeting,
MAYBE that one that negotiated the golf club for the ladies last week.
Otherwise... Can they cross networks and hire one of the bachelors instead?
Maybe I'm missing something, but, on the recaps they made it sound like the gold bar "negotiation" was key to victory, where the leg wax thing was way more bucks save. And then they talked about the shot thing so much being genius, and it ended up being a low piece of their revenues (besides violating store policy on employee-imbibing). Having 3 extra people to drum up business surely didn't hurt ("You guys should just try harder and faster!" Please.

I was actually very annoyed that the girls one. What they did with Kwame was unethical and stupid...but wasn't nearly as bad as the women. And that guy Bill was kicking ass all by himself inside the restaurant. THey deserved to win if only for him.
I couldn't help but laugh when they went out to dinner the following night because "we worked our butts off". Excuse me? You did shots with random meatheads all night. This using sex as a tool to win thing is getting really old.
I hope the guys win the next one....

I had to like Nick for the way he got disgusted by all the "gang up on Sam" mentality. He seems like to like the under-dog, so I respect him for that.
However, I was wondering if he was a fan of his South Park for his plan of "Operation Get Behind the Darkie" (nominating Kwame for project leader.) We kept thinking of South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut during that scene.
Speaking of South Park, the girls team were total Raisins girls: "Hey sweetie, come back to see me at Raisins real soon.".
Bravo to the editors for making it look like the men won this and then pulling the switcheroo. However, I have noticed a trend with the men vs. women's teams. The men seem to be better organized and have a better attention to small details (for example, the employee incentive was a great idea, as was going on to the tour bus to sell merch.) However, they are getting beat by the women, I think, because the women seem to seeing the big picture better, ie they asked the questions early on about where the revenue comes from and they seized on the info that liquor sales was not on par with most restaurants. Also, they realized early on that passing out coupons would not translate into redemptions, especially that night.
I think the men go into situations with better plans, but I think the women have shown they are better at asking the right questions, and thinking on their feet to change their strategy in mid-game.
