This competition wasn't fair for the guys. Of course the women will make more, because they can use sex to sell to guys. The guys did make some stupid decisions like location, but it really wasn't fair in my opinion.

I worked for a Sam in a previous job. Same height, same fast talker, same big thinker, same act before you think, same at spouting off what he learned from MBA books.
They do exist.

I like this show already (no surprise, considering I'm a huge Survivor fan). Interesting characters, blunt wake-up calls, and New York City. Omarosa, Amy, and Kristi are favorites so far for the girls...they've got heads on their dainty shoulders (and they know how to use both body parts to their advantage). Bill and Kwame haven't done much yet, but they stand out to me for some reason. I very much want to like Jason, but he's not doing anything for me so far.

I also thought it was unfair to have the men against the women. There should of been 2 teams that had a mixture of men and women. I think all of the women should of been FIRED for using SEX to sell. In the REAL world that is just WRONG!!! and the women should of been punished for it.
About Sam,
I thought for sure he was going to get FIRED! But when I saw the ending credits, they basically said NBC producers consulted with Trump about who should get fired, but ultimately Trump has the decision. I bet those producers twisted his arm to keep SAM

I can just imagine Donald Trump's response if the men had tried that "It's not fair!!!" whine on him.

Don't get me wrong. I know sex sells. But this is not the place to be using it.. .

I agree on the salary. $250K to run a Trump business (in presumably NYC) doesn't seem like a lot.

I agree. I liked the $1000 attempt too. Was he the same guy that tried to recruit hot women to sell for them?
The guy who got that store to donate all the free supplies probably scored big points.
Good show. Better than I thought it would be.

What is up with extremely rich guys and awful haircuts? Not that it matters for getting women, but come on! Whether it's a rug or not, it looks terrible. A guy with his money should have something on his head, real or not, that doesn't look so silly.

what the women did. I'm sure that big business can really be a cutthroat.
They were taking advantage of
the "assets" they had.
I honestly never thought that the business world would be a place that is always fair. After all, life isn't fair.
Of course, I suppose they may have run the risk of adding to the fallacy that some women executives are able to get to the top based on their sexual
prowess. However, most
thinking individuals know this isn't
the case.
I would have drawn the line if their behavior had become truly sexual.` However, it appeared as if they were only casually flirting.
Many common brandnames (Miller,
Budweiser, Pepsi) have ads where
sex is implied. I have been able to laugh at many of these----Bob Dole
and Brittany for example.
I am sure that many of these ads are
thought of and created by men and women.
The men and women on each team
had their own resources. The women were just better able to capitalize
on theirs.

Let's see, I counted two African-Americans (12.5%, as opposed to 12.3% of the general population). I counted one Asian-American (6.25%, as opposed to 3.6% of the population).
So it's not as if the show is under-representing those groups.

The really funny thing is that I went to HS in Maine, which is 99% white bread. I think we had 1 black kid in my class of 200, and one half-japanese/half-latino girl.

Don't get too caught up in whether the competitions are "fair" or not. It was obvious the women would win, because they had the clear advantage for short-term street sales, but it's of little consequence at this stage. Trump and his advisors are looking to see how these people handle the situations, not whether they "win" or not. Like he said, it's not a game; it's a long job interview.

Some of the footage was jawdroppingly embarrassing. To watch Sam crawl and beg has to be one of the all-time sad scenes to play out.
How do you spell "suck up"? S-A-M.
-----
Supposedly the show did so well that NBC is going to keep it on Thursday night after Friends (I guess that means it's goodbye "Good Morning Miami, and perhaps "Scrubs" on Must See TV night). On Wednesday, NBC is showing the premiere of "The Apprentice" in case some people didn't see it this past Thursday. I checked the schedule on NBC and that's what it's looking like right now.

Women Made More Money But the Men Sold More Units!
It was an interesting first test. I thought the women were going to lose at first because of their disorganization. But raw sex appeal won out in the end.
What I found most interesting (and no one else pointed this out) is that even though the women made more money, the men sold more cups of lemonade(!)
Doing the math, each team started out with $250 seed money.
Womens' team ended up with a $750 profit (they quadrupled).
Assuming they sold each cup at $5, that's 750 / 5 = 150 cups
Mens' team ended up with $250 profit (they doubled).
Assuming they sold each cup at $1, that's 250 / 1 = 250 cups!
These are rough estimates since they actually had to sell more
cups to make up for the overhead (cost of cups, ice, lemonade)
but you can see what I mean. Because of the gross price
differences, the men actually had to have sold more units.

Trump: CBS Chief Couldn't Handle 'Apprentice'
(Wednesday, January 14 03:28 PM)
By Rick Porter
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Donald Trump is currently starring in a hit reality show for NBC, but television is not his primary occupation. Therefore, he has no need to choose his words as carefully as most people who appear at the TV Critics Association press tour.
So when a reporter asked the billionaire real-estate mogul about CBS' attempts to blunt the ratings impact of "The Apprentice" -- in which 16 would-be captains of industry compete to land a job working for Trump -- he wasn't shy about offering his opinion on the competition and its CEO, Leslie Moonves.
"Apprentice" executive producer Mark Burnett, who was with Trump and who also produces one of CBS' biggest hits, "Survivor," feigned leaving the stage at first, then sat quietly while Trump unloaded on Moonves while the reporters in attendance scribbled furiously to take down his comments.
"Les Moonves is the most highly overrated person in television," Trump said. "I rented him a space for his morning show that doesn't get any ratings ['The Early Show'] ... he paid me a fortune."
Trump also appeared on "Access Hollywood" earlier this week, saying Moonves should lose his job.
Both networks have shuffled their schedules for this week in reaction to the strong debut of "The Apprentice," which brought in nearly 18.5 million viewers in its debut last week. NBC had planned to move the show to its regular spot, 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, this week. In response, CBS scheduled a new episode of television's top-rated show, "CSI," opposite Trump and Co. Wednesday.
NBC then changed its mind and decided to give "The Apprentice" another shot on Thursday, following "Friends." CBS then moved the "CSI" episode back to its regular timeslot at 9 p.m. Thursday and scheduled a "Cold Case" rerun for 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Trump's beef with Moonves may go deeper than just a race for ratings. Trump owns the Miss Universe pageant, which aired on CBS for a number of years until NBC picked it up in 2003. CBS says it decided not to renew the pageant's contract in the wake of low ratings, while Trump asserts that he pulled it from CBS to take to NBC.
"If [Moonves] does say he dropped it, remind him that I have his letters" indicating otherwise, Trump says.
Following its move to NBC this summer, the Miss Universe pageant earned its best ratings in five years.
A CBS spokesperson couldn't be reached for comment on Trump's statements. The Donald took one final shot at Moonves before moving on to other topics.
"If he were a contestant on ['The Apprentice'], he would have been fired by the third episode," Trump says. "And unlike most people, I like Les Moonves."
