Not the Reunion, but what was that sitcom about a bunch of elementary school classmates who reunited as adults? Njason Ritter, Lizzy Kaplan, Andrea Anders, Jesse Tyler Ferguson ...
It was pretty good. I suppose I could look up the name of the show.
And I just did. The Class. Ran for one season (2006-07) on CBS. It was pretty good (but not great) if I remember correctly.

I actually thought the Will Arnett/Christina Applegate show Up All Night was pretty good. The showrunner said NBC kept tinkering with the show though wanting to give Maya Rudolph a bigger role than necessary and then adding Sean Hayes unnecessarily to the point that the show was no longer fun to write. Initially it was just a show about a stay at home Dad with a working wife. Way better than About A Boy and the show about the blind Dad.

I rarely watch network shows anymore but the last one I really enjoyed that was cancelled too soon was Fox's Alcatraz. Seemed like it was just starting to gain its footing when it was canned.

Journeyman was a good answer.
Mind of the Married Man I thought really went downhill when he actually decided to cheat. The whole point of the show was the temptations he faced, and how he dealt with them.

Problem today is that if a show doesn't start off with a bang, there is little chance of it sticking around. Too much competition and too much panic from the networks to let viewers ease into a good story.

I still have no idea why Happy Endings didn't survive or take off. It was SO damn funny. It had a lot in common with Scrubs (including actress Eliza Coupe) and that show lasted way, way longer -- longer than it should have, actually. This show was brilliant and I still can't believe it never became popular. Wish they would have just parked it after Modern Family and just waited. Nothing else ever worked with that great lead-in, so why not at least put a fantastic show in the slot and hope that the public eventually will figure it out -- the "Parks & Recreation" strategy.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
I know the show had its detractors but I thought it was great. A couple episodes in the second season weren't so-so but even then, the performances were all great and I really liked the different SF spins the writers put in each episode. The first episode of Season 2 was probably one of the highlights of television for me.
Don't Trust the B- in Apt 23
This show was non-stop hilarious to me. I really don't see how it didn't find an audience. Way better than 2 Broke Girls in my opinion.

Ironically, because of feeling burned in the past I've now become part of the problem.

I still chuckle thinking about the episode where Chloe caught June masturbating in the bathtub.

Adding insult to injury is that a cast member from Don't Trust... is now a regular on 2 Broke Girls, which only serves to remind me how much funnier Don't Trust was.

Whatever did happen to that guy?

Yep. That's the main reason I stopped watching network shows. I got tired of being screwed as a viewer so I stopped watching new shows. Now I only watch once a complete series hits Netflix or Blu-ray.

I liked Don't Trust the B, though the wife hated it.
This thread is giving me a hankering to marathon Sarah Connor Chronicles and Pushing Daisies.

My vote as well.
Nice to see Lena Heady get so much acclaim on GoT.
And Summer Glau is getting steady work on Arrow.

A TV not even plugged in is better than 2 Broke Girls, but 2BG is light years better than "Two and a Half Men".
As great as seeing Kat Dennings breasts crammed into tight shirts is, they can't make me overlook the mediocrity of the show.

I still think cliffhangers are a horrible idea unless they KNOW it's picked up.

I did tried that for a couple years. I still had already running shows to watch yet did not want to bother with new shows until they were proven because I got tired of shows being cancelled on a cliffhanger. However I wanted new stuff to watch so I went back to watching new programs and waiting for them to cancel everything.

Shows are produced months before a renewal announcement. They usually wrap filming a season around March or early April. Renewal announcements are in mid May. The writers and producers can't wait until a network decides if it's coming back to write a cliffhanger ending or not. Sometimes you just have to go with what is the most effective storytelling element for a season Finale and cliffhangers are part of that. That's usually the show runners decision.
I prefer a better bookend to a season. Most of the time the season opener gets shown and the next episode has nothing to do with the events of what happened and starts a new story.
