1. Buffy
2. My So-Called Life
3. Police Squad! (unfair advantage since they only had to make 6 episodes, but I'd put those 6 up against almost anything)
4. Simpsons
5. Seinfeld

I can never decide which I like better, B5 or Farscape, so I put them tied for number one.

I figure it's gotta pass the I-have-it-on-tape-but-it's-on-TV-now-so-I'm-gonna-watch-it-anyway test:
1) The Simpsons (a no-brainer for me; I can't think of more than 1 or 2 eps that'll get me to change the station)
2) SCTV (this needs to get back on the air in its ORIGINAL format; Gene Levy is God)
3) Three Stooges (I know, it's not a TV show per se, but for DECADES it was a regular fixture in major markets across the country; WSBK TV38 in Boston joked that they used to get bomb threats whenever there was talk of taking the Stooges of their schedule)
4) Andy Griffith Show (when I was young, I thought this show was hokey and silly; as i got older I really learned to appreciate the characters, situations, and writing; Fun Girls Rule)
Tied for 5)
Family Guy (I taped it when it first ran, I got the R2 DVDs years ago, I snagged every ep off p2p, yet I still watch it every night on Cartoon Network)
Murder One: first season ONLY (I can't think of another show that had me so glued to my set from one week to the next; most compelling season of a TV show that I've ever watched)
Get a Life (America just never 'got' Chrissy's humor)
Police Squad (per episode, the funniest show ever on American TV)
The Duck Factory (just seeing if you were still awake; I think I saw most every ep in first run, and it was nothing special)

Cheers
The Simpsons
Sex and the City
Family Guy
Gilmore Girls
I probably would tire of these shows if I had to watch them over and over again forever, but I still like 'em.

Well here's my list:
The Simpsons (still better then a lot of the stuff on TV now)
Friends (some say it isn't original, or it stale now, but I still think it has it's moments)
Buffy/Angel (I have to think of them as one because they belong in the same universe)
24 (the most original idea I've seen on TV)
That 70s Show (Its just funny)
here's soon that are high on my list as well:
Law and Order
Smallville
CSI
ER

in order...
1. The A-Team (no matter what you think of the show, it had the best intro sequence/song in the history of television)
2. The X-files - who doesnt like a good conspiracy/aliens? not to mention Scully...
3. Beavis and Butthead - classic.
4. 24
5. Married with Children
Honorable Mentions:
Celebrity Death Match, Ren and Stimpy, My So Called Life, Transformers, Danger Mouse, Sledge Hammer, War Stories with Oliver North, Wings, NFL Prime Time...

I like the das test, but I think it might be a bit extreme. (Considering how many might be on his “favorite/best” list, I can see this as a reasonable way to cut it down to the single-digit realm.) Jobronie’s test seems more like my speed.
B5
TNG
DS9
Magnum, P.I.
M*A*S*H
I would put SG-1 in place of Magnum just to make it an all initials list, but I’m finding the repeat watching value fairly low. Maybe after it’s over and about 10 years down the road…?
It looks to me like brtcmfn needs to be included in the top 5 Forum members’ list, in a certain respect.

Cripes! I am going to have trouble narrowing it down to just 5...so I will just do my top 2 and then list the rest.
#1 The Andy Griffith Show - have to agree with what Jobronie said about TAGS seeming hokey and silly when he/she was younger. I was similar, maybe having been raised in the 70s and having most of my exposure to B&W comedy TV show re-runs being more along the slapstick lines, like I Love Lucy, The Munsters, etc. TAGS was slower and more adult (thought not racy adult) and I just didn't get it. As I grew older, I came to appreciate it on a totally different level. And for me, it is my favorite TV show of all time. Have all 249 episodes on VHS...still waiting for complete season DVDs!!!!
2. Twilight Zone - the non-comedy B&W TV show re-run I was exposed to as a child. Just loved it, so much so I own the whole set on DVD.
As for the rest, lots of retreads with others:
simpsons
family guy
seinfeld
wonder years
Leave it to Beaver
Larry sanders show
Star Trek: TOS, TNG, and DS9
Babylon 5
That 70's Show
happy days (high school years only, everything after was crap)
cheers (the Diane years. Yeah I know she was way annoying, but I like the show as a whole so much better. Plus as a character, I hated Rebecca)
