Dat did indeed deserve this week. Geoff should have realized one of the common comedy killers.. rape. When he did the "No means No" spill I'm sure he lost some fans.

I really wish Dave was still around.
It's almost like he had a 'vision' about the Kobe Bryant case!

It's pretty tough to make that "no means no" stuff funny, especially when you're talking to a specific person in the audience that you don't know. Dat was better this time, he seemed to deserve it.

I tend to belive that it wasn't so much about the editting for Dat's routine last time (not that anyone seemed to think that it wasn't)- since Dave even mentioned something about Dat making fun of his mother for ten minutes.
I agree that Tess and Ralphie are annoying. I dont' much one way or the other about Corey (other than thinking that she's a bit weak for being so damn eager to follow Vas). So I guess I'm left with Vas.

Did anyone notice in the first 20 minutes or so, when they were interview Rich Vos outside and Dat Phan was practicing his jousting with the chair in the background. Rich was saying that he wished that Dat would trip over the chair and fall over the wall and the second he said that Dat's foot got caught on the chair and he fell backwards out of the picture.

I don't think it was staged cause Dat was pretty far away when they were interviewing Rich Vos. But it made for a very funny moment.

yes I did. I also laughed when he did the bit about everyone thinking he did martial arts just because he was asian.

Dat was much much better this week than last!
VERY DIFFERENT from just imitating your mother for the whole act.

I don't get Geoff. Well I should say I don't get why everyone in the house actually thought he was great and a "veteran" and stuff. They were really building him up.
I had never heard of him before the show, and what I saw in the auditions I didn't care for but after the other comics really building him up I thought maybe I'd see something different at the showdown. BUT NOPE, could care less.

I thought his act was really a wannabe almost any other comic today and was still lacking.

I don't think Geoff even made me laugh. Dat did a great job. He deserved the win.

I like how he appologized for picking Dave.

It's kind of tough- I really don't want Dat to win, but I was really impressed with his performance last night. I think Geoff could have been very funny, but it took too long to get to the punch line. With only a few minutes of an act, he should have put out as many laughs as he could. The "no means no" bit was just too long in that short of time.

I've seen Vos before- he's absolutely hilarious. IMO, the favorite to win. He's been calling into our local morning radio show. He said they're filming the Vegas "showdown" tonight (7/23). There's only 2 episodes left. Next week (7/29), then a special 2 hour finale.

They both suck and neither made me laugh, but Dat was a lot better.

The only good comedians on this show are/were Dave and Rich.

Damnit, Dat made me eat my words. The urinal bit did make me laugh; I give him credit. But, the again, Geoff was so bland, I thought Dat would win before he even started just based on Geoff’s lackluster routine.

Yeah, the veterans comments are weird. I mean, Dat made a big deal asking how long people had been doing comedy before he chose Dave, acting like it was a big deal to take on Dave (7 yrs I think), yet both Voss and Geoff had been doing stand up longer than Dave. Plus, if you are a veteran, and not gone anywhere, doesn’t that say something? I’ve seen Voss perform before, thought he was funny but didnt leave a big impression.

You just know Dat has to be the fave with NBC executives- a young, fairly attractive, minority comedian. Thats the kind of demographic they pray to have a sitcom based around. I can only imagine thier abject horror at Voss winning.

I thought it was funny that Dat had the joke saying people thinks he does martial arts, but he doesn't. Apparently he didn't pull out any "I can do martial arts" jokes later.

when ratings are high there's always time for more.

they did the same with Joe Millionaire.

Boy, they are milking this for all it's worth. I hope on the 2 hour show, we will get to see some more standup from the original comedians.

yeah looks like next week is the showdown and WE VOTE over phone or something.

Then a 2 hour RESULTS show. (damn they are milking that one).

I wish it was the OPPOSITE.
Should be a 2hour SHOWDOWN where they perform longer sets and then a 1 hour result show.

I've never voted for these type of shows. Hell I've never voted period! But if Dave Mordal had been one of the last 5, I would have voted for him and I guarantee you that with American watching and voting, he would have won by a landslide, even if Dat Phan were one of the final 5. But of course the best man/woman is not going to win and nice guys (mrpayroll) do finish last.

I think Dat's personality is really going to hurt him. Even if he does an awesome set, people will be apprehensive in voting for him cause he's such a nutjob.

Unfortunately, I think thats the major flaw in the show.

Yeah, Dat's outsiderness and the fact that he took out dave will really effect his outcome in voting if you ask me.

It works both ways. I know the USA Today critics were sympathetic to Dat (the nice guy) and a little harsher on the shows acid tounged comics (Dave, Voss, Corey, and such). So, that could heavily work in Dats favor. I think poeple are more prone to like a slighty crazy nice guy (like the show portrays Dat) than the harsher comics (who could be seen as bullies). The Average Joe public prefers their comedy safe and nice (which is why Leno beats Letterman in the ratings)

Dave Mordal has a website at, you guessed it, www.davemordal.com, so I just sent him this e-mail

'Hello Dave, I just got to say that you were the best thing on Last Comic Standing and I really thought you had a great chance to win it all. But that idiot audience wouldn't know what's funny, even if you sprayed the room with laughing gas. I believe it was you that said 'a comic is not only funny when doing standup, but also in everyday real life', and you sir were very funny in real life, especially when capturing that mouse (rat, if you ask Rich Vos)!

You have a great way of looking at life and if I were a registered voter, I would probably vote for you for President. And then I could read about your drunken exploits in the morning newspaper and have a good laugh first thing!

It's too bad you live in Minnesota and only perform around those neck of the woods, cause I think you would do great here in California. Maybe now the offers will start coming in, so hopefully I can see you do standup for more than 3 minutes.

Maybe NBC will cast you in one of their sitcoms, maybe as an eccentric uncle to a bunch of kids that he can't stand, but deep down really loves! That would be better than your terrorist sitcom, which probably would do great in the Middle East, but not here in the States

I've set up a 'wishlist' with your name on my TIVO, so I hope to see you soon on the television. Take care and good luck in the future. Your new fan (not Dat), Chris

Do you think he might think I am stalking him?

Thanx for the heads up, I was wondering why the 'Stalker Police' hadn't been busting down my door! I re-sent it, so hopefully he'll get a laugh out of it.

He's probably gotten more press/e-mail because he lost, than if he had won.
