Yeah that's true, there's so many movies I've seen when I was little and was petrified of, but I see it now and it just looks dumb and really really badly acted in most cases

Okay, maybe I missed something. I had read the book and seen the original version and I believe I saw the whole thing this time around. Why did Rob Lowes character attack Father Callahan in the beginning? Was that explained, hinted at, or did I just miss it. Didn't Rob Lowes character think (and continue to think) that Fatehr Callahan was dead? Besides that little annoyance, I thought it was still pretty good. Marjorie Glick coming to life was pretty cool.

The priest took over the Donald Sutherland role of human enabler of the vamps. However, there was no way that Rob Lowe could have known that. Weird.

It was okay. I read the book a really long time ago and saw the movie in college (didn't scare me nearly as much as other people and I'm easily scared).

I stepped out of the room for a bit but why did Father Callahan kill Andre Braugher's character? I'm guessing just to get rid of people but who knows. Couldn't figure out how Rob Lowe's character knew Callahan had been turned unless he just saw his picture in the paper somewhere and wondered how did he make it out of the town without going over to the dark side.

So I'm confused, was the priest turned or not? He drank from the head vampire.

See Gil Jawetz's post just a couple ahead of yours.

Well he knew that he was having a face-face witht the head vampire, and since they knew he did not kill him, once he saw the priest again, it was a safe assumption that he was turned, or other wise not on the up and up.

A couple of questions:

1) Was the fact that a vampire can't enter one's house unless invited an invention of King's or is it a part of vampire lore? I'd never heard that before.

2) The vampires in the town were still "alive" even after the head vampire was "killed." Are we to assume that Jersulam's Lot is now just a town of vampires or did they all die out somehow? (I remember a shot of the present day town early in the mini-series and it was vacant, but it may have been during daylight)

They used this in The Lost Boys also. So, I assume it's part of the lore, but I could be wrong.

If I remember correctly this was also used in Buffy as well.

I don't know if it's in every vampire story, but it's pretty common. It may even have been in Dracula.
