Monk returns on June 20th

From the USANetwork.com Monk bulletin board

The dramedy about an obsessive-compulsive detective will be back June 20 after nearly a nine-month break. That's not a moment too soon for the USA network.

"It's completely redefined the network," said Jackie Lyons, USA's senior vice president of original series. "What 'The Shield' has one for FX, 'Monk' has done for us."

It's unclear whether ABC will air reruns, as it did last year. It probably depends on whether it decides to give network viewers some quality programming this summer or just jam-pack the airwaves with reality shows. ("The World's Smartest Farm Animals," anyone?)

When "Monk" does return, our hero, played by Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub, will be trying to deduce whether a woman's fall from a clock tower was a murder or suicide. Andrew McCarthy guest stars.

Also this season: Monk goes to the circus and to Mexico. There's little chance that he'll drink the water.
Woo-hoo! Summer TV!

Monk and a short summer run of Dead Zone sounds good to me!

yeah! This was such a great show. Tony Shalhoub was always my favorite on Wings, other than Thomas Hayden Church. Glad to see this is coming back so soon!

Very good. I noticed that they started repeating the shows from last season, so I figured Season 2 would be coming soon.

I hope that Willie Nelson keeps himself out of trouble this season.

Yeah, that Willie Nelson thing was hilarious. I always find it so damn pathetic when they have a guest star on, and the main character is ALWAYS the biggest fan, hahaha. I'm surprised at how they actually seemed to make it fit and work on Monk though

Just a bump for Monk! Tomorrow night peoples!

I was reading an article on the show this morning on the SJ Mercury News website that prompted me to search for this thread and bump it.

From the news article
Note: There will be 16 episodes of ``Monk'' this season; nine will air this summer, with seven scheduled for the winter. ABC has no plans to air repeats as it did last year.
And some spoilerific changes in the show...
Spoiler:
Those fans will notice some changes immediately in Friday's season-opener. All the attention has clearly earned "Monk'' a budget boost from USA. Production has moved from Canada to Los Angeles, and there is more footage shot on location in San Francisco. There's a witty new theme song, "Jungle,'' from that icon of ironic observation, Randy Newman. And overall, the show has a richer look to it.

I've never seen the show, but I wonder if it'll get as good of ratings this season. Can a Catholic monk still be a believable hero considering all the recent scandals in the church?

Um, since you say you haven't seen the show, I would like to point out that "Monk" is the name of the main character who is an obsessive-compulsive detective. It has nothing to do with religious monks.

I'm very much looking forward to this show. Only one more day.

Pretty dumb on their part since Monk pulled in better ratings than whatever it replaced.

Does Groucho have a "Catch and release" clause once he reels them in?

I wondered if it was a joke. But then it would be a pretty lame joke, IMO.

The joke is the reactions of people who fall for it :P

Hmmm.. hopefully we wont see a repeat of an X-Files or Sliders quality drop.

I caught an episode of this the other day on USA, I believe. Shaloub is great as Monk....I'll catch a few more this season as that episode made me chuckle...at least enough to check out a few more.

Very good ep. I just love this show. Tony Shalhoub is amazing.

A very clever way to get rid of someone. Hmmmm.
