TV Sucks
Agreed, this is a very generalized statement. But then again, am I the only one who gets really frustrated with:
- Way too many commercials
- Always the same commercials
- All the warnings like "the following program contains blablabla. Viewer discretion is advised"
- Movies being edited for content
- Movies being shown in fullscreen
- Beeping out half of the conversation
- TV news being interrupted by commercials
- TV news being referred to as a "show"
- ...
And this is just criticism about the way things are presented. I haven't even started about contents...
Personally, I now stick to renting movies, and trying to finalize my quest for the best news broadcast (meaning most objective, least chopped up by commercials, and least searching for the spectacular rather than the informational).
Pheww. I feel better already.

According to the promos, FoxNews is "fair and balanced" in their reporting. Sounds like they might be the objective source of news you are looking for.
They report, you decide.

Didn't I catch most of these compaints on Andy Rooney?
"Ya know what I hate? I hate how they show movies that have been edited for content. Doncha hate when they do that? And why do they refer to TV news as 'the show'? Couldn't they just call it 'show' and be done with it???"

2. Get a DVD player. No more edited/fullscreen movies.
Problem solved.

I am just tired of all the reality TV of late, and the truly uninspiring ideas I see for new series coming next year. Right now Everwood, Smallville and That 70's Show are the only three must see shows on TV for me, the rest of it I can take or leave, and there aren't too many other shows I try to catch on a regular basis.

Add disaster warning logos to the list of annoyances
The local networks in my area are paranoid. The second someone says storm, freaking huge warning logos become pasted on every local channel.. sometimes with huge banners scrolling/utilizing an 8th of the screen. Annoying, annoying, annoying! They also post the time on screen in the middle of shows. Thank goodness I have some distant networks on my satellite TV.. heck of alot more reasonable watching NY or LA television networks.
My TiVo and 30 second skip prevent me from watching most commercials. Amen to that!

What I hate more are little ads for other shows at the bottom of the screen. Also hate the really big and annoying station id's. (the abc 7th anniversery was too much. It was hard for me to watch alias since that thing was so annoying.)

Yes TV Sucks. That's why I don't watch it.
I have too many other things to do (DVDs, video games, books, magazines, Internet, etc.) that I don't have time to watch TV. I get my news from the radio, Internet, and newspaper.

If you don't watch it, how do you know it sucks ... furthermore, what would prompt you to explore TV Talk?

P.S. I'm not trying to be argumentative ... just curious. The human psyche fascinates me, especially lunatics who don't watch TV.

It's some animal with the body of a zebra and the head of a giant pastry.

Seriously.... it was bothering me so much I had to open it up in PhotoShop and zoom in a few times to figure it out.
I guess I have too much time on my hands.

Used to work with a girl who didn't even own a TV. I thought there was a law or something about that...

I have stopped watching most TV, even for shows that I was following. I missed too many shows in the story arc, so I figure I will just catch them on DVD from now on.
If I turn the TV on, then I will sit there and watch for a few hours, even if there isn't anything on. I hardly watch anything anymore, except the Sunday night Fox block (Simpsons, Futurama, King of the Hill, Malcom, Oliver Beene, etc.)
