I'm not really sure what the deal is with the cash, at first I thought it was just the amount but the way Vic went from overjoyed to somber kind of threw me off...
Well, if it were counterfeit, I don't think they would just leave stacks of fake bills lying around - they would still have to move it out of the area (even if it's just to hide it until they figure out what to do next). Also, I don't think Vic and Shane would have noticed any problems with the bills while they were at the Armenian's. At that point the cash was all wrapped up in bricks and I doubt they could really see much inside the package.

I was also thinking about counterfeit money at first, but if it was, why would the Armenians continue to go about their business after one of their men was shot, if they knew that it was counterfeit? Also, Vic and Shane took some of the money to the Armenian's apartment, so they would have likely spotted the fake money then as well.

the lyrics to "Overcome" seem to nicely sum up what the group was feeling at the time when they saw the $$:
Even now
The world is bleedin'
But feelin' just fine
All numb in our castle
Where we're always free to choose
Never free enough to find
I wish somethin' would break
Cuz we're runnin' out of time
And I am overcome
I am overcome
Holy water in my lungs
I am overcome
Even now
The world is bleedin'
But feelin' just fine
All numb in our castle
Where we're always free to choose
Never free enough to find
I wish somethin' would break
Cuz we're runnin' out of time
And I am overcome
I am overcome
Holy water in my lungs
I am overcome

I wonder if Claudette becomes captain, she knows that Dani wasn't responsible for the knife that killed Armadillo, if she can reinstate her, especially in light of what happened to Julien. Man, I can't wait for season 3. And I also can't wait for the dvd set of season 2. I'm really looking forward to some of the commentaries for the shows of this season. Especially the Armadillo ones.

I had to resist looking in this thread until I was able to watch the final episode last night. What torture!
Phew. Now that it's all over I can't believe we have to wait until JANUARY(!?!?) for Season 3!! Dani getting fired was not expected and Aceveda winning the election was somewhat predicted, however the new power structure is definitely going to be interesting to behold.
My hypothesis is that Vic and the Strike Team will go somewhat straight from now on, not only b/c they have 2 enemies above them (Capt. Claudette & Councilman Aceveda) but they are set for life with the Money Train score and no longer need to put their necks out there for kickbacks. They can afford to do things by the book. Plus Vic will have more time and $$$ to try and patch up his really messed up marriage.

The thing that connects the strike team to the robbery is the injured Armenian in the hospital. Dutch will make the connection between the dead Armenians and the Armenian in the hospital with a gun shot wound. Maybe Claudett gets involved in questioning the injured Armenian and gets suspicious. Vic may have to get involved in the investigation since it looks gang related and has to talk with the Armenian. The Armenian could then recognize Vic's voice.

The Armenian isn't in the hospital. They took him to a "back alley" doctor.
In a completely unrelated matter, I just remembered a plot point they introduced early in the season but never revisited: the civilian auditor's bulimia.

I'm probably the only poster here who is happy they run so few episodes a year. I think the long wait in-between seasons and the lower number of epsiodes is exactly why this series is superior to all the other cop/law/crime dramas on tv. I cannot help but think most dramatic series on television would be much better if they focused on 8-12 episodes a year instead of 22.

If you'll remember she threw up after visiting the crime scene with the dead Arab. I took that to mean that she simply had seen her first dead body and was reacting to it.

Regarding the Bulimia: Maybe I'm misremembering, but there was an episode where she was in the bathroom throwing up and Dutch almost catches her, and she acts all guilty. I seem to remember a discussion in this forum about it, so I doubt I'm the only one who interpreted it that way.

I don't think there was any evidence to support that she had bulimia.

You guys are forgetting all the food they ate in the break room. Remember she really didn't want any, but Dutch pressured her into eating it, and then she tore into it. Not long after she was puking her guts out. I'm struggling to remember the flow of the episode myself, but I do have a memory of bulimia much like Groucho.

The feeling that I got when watching the money shot scene was that they were happy at first but then remembered that they were supposed to be the "good guys" and realized not only what they had done but the magnitude of it.
Something like that will never leave you even if you try to go straight and narrow again. Yes, they tend to operate outside the law but usually in reactive action to a situation to keep control of the streets.
This one was different because they instigated it themselves outside of their job.

Saltwater tank stuff
Hey TN Dave
I saw your posting in another area and wondering if you still have your tank. I am interested in trading frags. Sorry for the misplaced post.

Rise, thread!
I just had myself a Shield S2 marathon, and I was also puzzled by the look on the Strike Team's faces at the very end... but the fact that it's hit them about how criminal they've become makes sense.
As far as the whole bulimia angle with Lainey/Lainie Kellis... I agree, and I'll even throw in more evidence. Before we hear her puking and see her using the breath spray as people have brought up above, she and Dutch went to the parking office in the episode in which the meter maid got shot. Lainey excuses herself to go to the bathroom and Dutch is trying to get the guy to drop his ticket. Lainey exits the bathroom and uses her breath spray. Why would you use breath spray if all you had to do was take a number one or a number two? I thought it was odd that she used breath spray there, and when she repeated her behavior after she puked, it fell into place. Combine that with the scene of her pigging out on the cookies or whatever, and it makes sense.
I also thought that Dutch had an idea about it when he asked her out to dinner. The only thing I didn't know is how the show would explore it without becoming an after-school special. Perhaps it was just intended for us to see that Lainey had her problems, too?

I guess I've seen too much bad television drama that uses eating disorders as the "issue of the week."
