Well, good for him. I, for one, had no idea.

He was also plugging a new project addressing religion which sounded like it was directed by Larry Charles. They played a few clips on LKL, and it looked like Bill was intervewing at various locations religous folk.

It's his new movie "Religulous" and it comes out in October. Can't wait.

I found it funny that he said he'd keep airing clips of Christine O'Donnell from the old Politically Incorect show until she decided to come on Real Time.

Used to love Bill Maher even back to his days at ABC, and I always thought he was railroaded from the network for his 9/11 comments.

In saying that, his HBO show has gotten worse and I just stopped watching it. His show goes like this: Sarah Palin is an idiot, Republicans are morons, Religion is a farce, and I'm sure he is going after the tea party now. Now I actually don't disagree with many of those statement, but geez you don't have to repeat the same shit every show!

What makes his show worse is that he usually has only one conservative panelist who gets pounded by the 2 other liberal panelists, along with Bill and the heavily liberal crowd! Then there are shows where he has all liberal panelists and there is no debate just a bunch of people bitching about the republicans!

His ABC show was alot better, as he used to get 2 conservative panelists against 2 liberal panelists, and there would be some debate! And Bill used to be alot more moderate, til he got sucked up by the Hollywood elite and now is just a full-fledged liberal.

Although his new rules segment was always funny!

I agree with every thing you wrote. These days I'll only watch if I know there's going to be a panelist on it that I like (say, P.J. O'Rourke or Adam Carolla).

For all the reasons mentioned, I refuse to watch this windbag. People bitch about Rush but at least he makes valid points (or used to..haven't listened to him in years)...Maher is just a mouthpiece for the wackos on the leftward fringe of the political spectrum.

Maher used to make stupid comments to be funny. Now he believes them, which is much more sad than funny.

I'm actually surprised that the black leaders (jackson and sharpe) aren't rippin him a new one for using the n word on Larry King. He essentially said that with many of the tea partyers and republicans using the word 'kenyan' against obama, they really mean n***er

This will be the 1st time that I won't be buying HBO to see Bill Maher.
Last season only had one good show and in the past I found all his shows enjoyable. But like you said and when i saw him on Larry King promoting his show all he does is name call people. Like if the TEA PARTY wins in Nov. he's going to call the voters stupid.

Maher is for checking only Muslims at the airport.

Bill Maher's one major weakness is his quasi anti-vaccine stand (although he's no Jenny McCarthy). Aside from that, he's closer to the truth in what he says when speaking seriously than anyone in the right-wing media.

Well, he's both pious and clownish, which are also traits shared by Limbaugh and Coulter. Not that any of the three is capable of being the voice of reason, but it's hard to maintain a long career as a political gadfly without sacrificing substance for sensationalism and mockery.

My favorite Maher moment came a few years back when he had Sanjay Gupta on his show. Bill ranted for a few minutes that it was not pathogens that made us sick, but rather immune systems that had been weakened due to poor modern diets. Gupta hemmed and hawed for a minute out of reluctance to embarrass his host, then finally observed that the millions and millions of people who died in the flu pandemic of 1918 didn't lose their lives because of poor diet, but because of a lack of vaccines.

I think he's okay in limited amounts but I rarely ever watch his show. He really comes off as asshole-ish and seems to think that he's right about everything and everyone else is wrong. It gets kinda old. My brother used to watch him all the time so I'd have to sit through it every week or so when new episodes aired.
