I'm not saying chipping is, like, the ultimate good. I'm saying that given the options--chipping, ensoulment, or death, chipping is the one that does the least evil (since it's reversable, has the least restrictions on freedom, etc).
So, to have Buffy say, "Muzzling evil is wrong!" is stupid--it doesn't deal with the fact that she has no problem with slaughter. The line only really works when applied to Spike--because he does have the whole redemption thing to deal with--and not when applied to evil as a group.
I mean, yeah, the chip screws with free will, but I'd rather have an anti-violence chip in my head, that I could eventually get removed, than be killed. I'm not trying to call it a perfect solution--but it's quite a bit better than what she does on a regular basis.

However, in the context of Buffy, I don't think anyone wants to see a show about a Vampire Muzzler. She's fighting vampires - evil demons - they're not human. The show doesn't work (and would not be on the air) if she killed humans. Besides, Buffy doesn't have the resources to insert chips. And, no one wants to see a show about the Initiative.
Prefer the chip over death? I'll take free will.

Thwhole rearview reflection thing has been blown out of proportion. Sure, Spike probably doesn't show up in the mirror, and Wood doesn't let us, the viewers, know what he saw, but for all he knows, Spike could have been a demon with other characteristics that include the non-reflective properties, but his suspicious were finally proven true when Spike went into Vamp-face-,mode, and he uttered his pronouncement of Spike's Vamp-ness. Not a big deal, and it doesn't require any retconning or ME pulling something out of a hat to explain it away. But the look on Buffy's face in the car was priceless when Wood asked how they knew one another.

What rearview reflection thing and how was it blown out of proportion?
I am confused. Did I miss something?

However, I think Spike was pretty slouched down, so maybe he didn't see him.
