idont think so, i heard that skit on xm the other day, it didnt sound like eminem, it sounded like the rude guy who always burps on the phone, i cant remember his name off hand

Deftones 01-25-04 06:12 PM

I don't watch this show anymore, but it was most certainly Eminem. Jim Florentine who does that voice, stated on the Howard Stern show he did some work with Eminem for the Crank Yankers show.

atari2600 01-25-04 06:51 PM

awesome! it looked so damn funny in the short commercial.

bobby mitchel (or whatever his name is that burps) was in the sketch with eminem, special ed and the old dude.

j123vt_99 01-25-04 07:25 PM

it probably was... just like deftones said "em" is supposed to be a huge crank yankers fan.. at one of the awards show, he did a yankers character

SPiRAL 01-25-04 08:20 PM

Bobby Fletcher. ( burrrrrrrrrrrrrp )

I 'm not sure, but I think it was the MTV Movie Awards. He won best male and kept saying "I got Male" during his acceptance speech.

atari2600 01-25-04 11:29 PM

yup. that was great.

and thanks spiral for fixing the name.

SPiRAL 01-26-04 12:14 AM

I just saw the commerical for the new episode. The anouncer says, " Even Eminem is getting in on the act. " Eminem - " Let me put my brother on the phone. " Should be a good one.

atari2600 02-11-04 12:19 PM

crank yankers!

what....no thread on this? wasnt last night the season premiere?

holy **** i was DYING during the conceierge skit and the 'hold on let me put my brother on the phone' one.

bobby fletcher, eminem, special ed...they had me cracking up. that was GREAT!!

BlackCapTen 02-11-04 12:52 PM

Yes, I love this show, but sometimes I think I might be in the minority. As a somewhat retired prank phone caller I laugh my ass off.

Conceirge was a tour de force ("Gods gonna replay this whole call" "Is he gonna get puppets to act them out?" ), but the brother crank was a let down because it was pretty short and the ads made it seem like it went on for a long time.

FuzzyBallz 02-11-04 02:11 PM

nooooooooooooooo, I missed M&M on Crank Yankers last night. When's the rerun?

Jadzia 02-11-04 02:51 PM

I loved the teddy bear.

"Embrace the gay lifestyle."
"Poppa Bear wants it in the backdoor."

agreed. and i was afraid i woudlnt find it funny since i saw that commercial a million times. fortunately it was still helarious even though i already knew what the joke was.

problem is it was hard to keep it going cuz she kept hanging up. i hope they do it again to someone else.

that was hilarious!

I also liked the bit where the guy puked everywhere when he was asking questions about his wife's pregnancy.

I think that is the funniest call they've ever done.

"Who would win in a fight Spider-man or Jesus?"
...pause...
"Jesus beats everybody!"

Re: Crank Yankers on Comedy Central

Comedy Central is dusting off “the world’s favorite profane puppets” for another round of telephonic terrorism. Crank Yankers, which originally aired from 2002 to 2007, is returning for a 20-episode revival, the network announced Monday during the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena.

For the (mercifully) uninitiated, Crank Yankers was a crass 30-minute show in which prank calls — dialed by the likes of Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Tracy Morgan, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes and Biz Marke — were brought to life via the magic of puppetry.

According to Comedy Central, the new Crank Yankers will be “updated for a digitally driven audience. [The puppets will be] pranking on phones, social media, e-sport platforms and any venue where trouble can be made.” The revival will be the first project under Kimmel’s production banner Kimmelot. His brother Jonathan Kimmel will serve as showrunner, executive-producing alongside Carolla, Kimmel and Daniel Kellison.

“Crank Yankers has always been my favorite show to make,” says Kimmel. Nothing is more fun or makes me laugh harder than a great crank call and I am thrilled that Comedy Central asked us to do it again,” said Jimmy Kimmel. “At this time, I would like to ask all Americans to disable their caller ID. Thank you.”

OMG I forgot about this show and wondered why there would be a bump... of course they are bringing this back... .IT was hysterical at the time. hope it does not lose its luster with the reboot.

Re: Crank Yankers on Comedy Central

One problem though, will it be the same show or fall to the trend of "woke"comedy?

Re: Crank Yankers on Comedy Central

So the show is going to consist entirely of elderly people without caller ID?

Re: Crank Yankers on Comedy Central

The show was sort of funny at first but got old fast.

Re: Crank Yankers on Comedy Central

Some characters were substantially funnier than others, but I'm looking forward to it.
