Crank Yankers on Comedy Central
on Comedy Central starting June 2. This sounds like its gonna be pretty damn funny. Don't see the show lasting long though. This is a must try!!
http://www.comedycentral.com/tv_shows/crankyankers/ Go to the part where it says crank call your friends. It actually works! |
I'm really looking forward to this, anything with Adam Carolla attached is golden, for those who don't know its real prank calls acted out by puppets, sort of a Jerky Boys meets the Muppets
|
If this is anything like the Jerky Boys I can't wait!! :)

Crank Yankers 6/2/02
Did anyone watch this? For the most part, I'll keep my comments to myself. I only watched the first 15 minutes then turned it off. Wasn't my cup of tea.
|
Lame.
|
It was slightly funny, but nothing to write home about. The concept looked better on paper than it actually worked in real life. I turned it off during the long Wu-Tang sequence at the end. I don't understand why that was even there...I was watching the show to see prank calls, not watch puppets do a rap number.
|
It was funny at moments, and that's it. I kept waiting for the Wu-Tang bit to be funny and/or entertaining, and it was neither.
The phone calls themselves are good, but the puppets add nothing to them. If anything, they are distracting. I have no idea how the prank-call thing could work on TV. |
Originally posted by GuessWho Lame. The only thing I liked was the opening credits and song, as the camera flew through the town. Then it went downhill. |
I laughed my ass of when the called the sex-hotline.
The rap skit at the end was worthless. |
I thought the deaf phone sex call was hilarious. And I liked Sarah Silvermans nanny bit too "It’d be great if you had a hot tub because I really need to relax,... and I have excema"... I totally dont get the full scale rap number either. What the Hell?, I hope every episode doesnt end that way. The only thing worse than seeing Bon Jovi sing would be seeing a puppet Bon Jovi sing.
I agree the puppets dont do anything for me. But, at the same time, I cannot figure out how to do a prank call tv show, without it being costly and more cumbersome by setting up hidden cameras and such. I'll give future episodes a chance. |
I loved the whole thing. I laughed so loud during the ending with Wu-Tang that I woke up my wife. They have some really good puppeteers on the show.
|
I liked the rap skit. It reminded me of Sesame Street ...just with hardcore rap instead of the ABC song.
D |
Forget the rap skit, wasn't worth my time. The rest of the show was great! I'll certainly watch again.
|
I think they are are doing a weekly musical guest so get used to the puppet musical #s Tenacious D is coming up w/ Jack Black puppet penis exposed!
Mildly enterataining but it seems like a lot of hoopla and production just to air a few prank calls. Probably one of the most offensive shows CC is going to be airing, while it lasts |
:thmbsdwn: :thmbsdwn: I wish I had more thumbs to put down.

I watched a few minutes of it then rewound my tape and watch the Cartman joins NAMBLA episode of South Park again. This show can't last. Even if they had some good ideas (they don't) they would run out before the end of the first season. I say bring back The Man Show.

shoot, I missed it. Oh well, doesn't sound like I missed much though.
|
I loved it, that phone sex one was classic. All of them were funny though
|
I thought the phone calls acted out by the puppets was great. But the whole rap thing was just boring, probably because I don't like rap. I do like Tenacious D though, so next week should be all good.
|
Great concept for a show, but the calls were lame. They should hire the Jerky Boys. Might have to "bleep" out some stuff, but it would be worth it.
"Get Brett Weir I said!!!" "Should I bring my f-ing tools?" "Excuse me?" "Should I bring my toolbox?" |
I agree. Only a few of the bits were funny. With such a great cast(Dave Chapelle, Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, Sarah Silverman) I had high hopes. Looks like this will be the second show in one season featuring Sarah Silverman that will get canned.
|
I watched ten minutes of this show.
It was unfunny. It was not undull. I'm not raising my thumbs to this show. 2000 thumbs down. Sure, I have to borrow (or steal) some thumbs, but this show sucks and blows. |

Originally posted by sexy_overlord I've heard of this. It's what is known as the "Survivor Effect". Can someone explain the physics behind it to me? |
Originally posted by icondude What's the "Survivor Effect"? At least Survivor is a good show. |
Originally posted by sexy_overlord I was trying to think of a show that most people think is awful, but I couldn't come up with one so I decided to piss some people off. That's known as the "Overlord Effect". But who am I to bitch about how vapid and stupid the opiate of the masses can be? |
Lame.
Although I did like calling the ballsack a "coin purse" |
Crank Yankers 6/10/02
I thought the first episode was just OK, this episode was classic though, the stripper that needed they seeing eye dog had me in tears, the guy that was trying to order the penis pump was hilarious too, all of calls were pretty funny though, I hope people give this show a second chance
|
One word:
Puppets. One more word: No. mini |
hmm.. I really want to like this show. The concept seems great to me. but the prank calls just suck. The first episode was better, imo, but not by a lot. The tech support call was only slightly funny because the tech guy's set was very well designed(linux posters, etc). other than that it was just dumb. I don't hate the show, it just doesn't make me laugh(or even smile really).
|
The prank calls are very lame. I saw the first episode and the phone sex lady screaming to create vibrations for the deaf guy was hilarious.
Also, the 6/10's "I've got mail!" for two minutes was humorous. |
Hey guess what....I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail, I've got mail.
Yeah I think this is just best sticking to an audio cd like the Jerky Boys. |
I thought the first episode stunk. This one was pretty funny though. As I said about the first episode, they've assembled a great cast. From this episode it appears that Tracy Morgan is on board in addition to Dave Chapelle, Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carrola, and Sarah Silverman. This episode was better but still needed something. I'll see how the third episode is.
I agree though the "I've got mail!" was really funny. The puppet was wearing a helmet. That one had me laughing pretty hard. |
I liked both episodes (the second one a bit better).
Only thing I really didn't like so far was the WU-Tang clan at the end of the first episode. Other than that I thought the call were pretty good, ofcourse some MUCH better than others. And the concept of putting it to puppets I think is pretty funny. Guess I'm easy to please. |
They actually got to air a second episode after the pilot of suckage? [shudder]
|
That "I've Got Mail" sketch was so annoying. I still have no idea where my tv landed.
|
I wish I could find the soundclip for I've got mail...YAY..so I could use it for my email notification. Still makes me laugh thinking about it.
