Does anyone recall when Davey and Goliath was an actual kid's show?!

I don't remember if it was a Sat. morning show, but it always came on real early and had a moralistic, religious theme to each episode.

It would almost always end with Davey talking to Goliath about how it would be wrong to steal (for instance) and how God wants us to be better kids.

Bet you could not get a show like that on TV now.

The commercial is definitely aimed at people who remember the show. If you'd never seen it, the humor just wouldn't work.

That was my feeling too.

But I found it odd and curious at the same time since soft drink companies tend to market their products to the 12-28 year old crowd.

How many viewers in that age group will know who D & G are?

Remember the Simpsons episode with the now-pipe-bomb-wielding-fanatic "Gravey and Jobriath"? (Off-topic, I know, but another reference that might have shot right over the heads of many of the viewers....)

I absolutely love the "Got Chocolate Milk?" spots.

The one with the cagey looking kid asking the snooty chocolate store clerk for bon-bons and them smashing them to bits in the bag to add to his white milk kills me every time.

Whoever created these spots needs a weekly half-hour comedy.

I like the Toys R Us commercial with E.T.
Geoffry is trying to tell E.T his name but E.T. keeps saying "Elliot".
Cracks me up!!

I also like the beer commercials for Samual Adams (I think that's the brand) where some guy is telling his buds he won't show them a tape they really want to see, but then he takes a drink of the beer and says "Wow...what was I saying?" And the guys end up getting to see the tape, that ends up being a homemade porn.

ESPN has the best, The one with Joe Montana and Ronnie Lott playing golf and they are talking about "male Itching" when Joe whips out this big jar of vaseoline looking stuff, takes out a handfull and bends down,(to apply it) the look on Ronnie's face is priceless.

YES. I don't know why it's so funny... they both scream, and then Geoffrey's all, "Hey! You're eating all my candy!"

Damn, you beat me to it

I could go on and on about that commercial. I have written a few commercials at my job and I WISH I could come up with something half this funny. What makes it work is the fact they start on this really long, uncomfortable shot of them just staring at each other. Like they HATE each other. I love that.

I also enjoy the Mello Yello commercials with the different choices. A and B are always really funny.

There was a comerical for Sprite a couple years ago where a mother told her kids to come into the kitchen and get some Punchy Fruit(or something like that) The kids came in, talking about how much they liked the drink. Then the logo on the bottle popped up from the bottle into the kitchen and said "that's because I'm filled with natural goodness. The kids and the mother scream and start to run away. The logo chases them through the house saying "where are you going?" and " don't you love good things". the mother trips amd falls and yells to the kids "RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then the obey your thirst tag line comes up.

Everytime I saw this commerical I laughed so hard I almost p**sed myself.

Another classic is the good humor commerical with the good humor man theme song. "I'm the good humor man"

Still to this day I love the Nike ad with the runner (can not remember her name) that is chased by a Jason/Michael Myers type slasher in the woods and leaves him gasping for air behind her. This was pulled because of some people not liking her in her undies or being chased down - although they miss the whole point of the commercial.

For some reason I like the new Verizon commercial with the 3 teenage girls, with the one getting a pony for Christmas - I love her exchange to the "does it bite" question.

I like the one for the Heisman Trophy that they started last year (IIRC) and played again this year, with all those things chasing a truck down the street.

What I like about it is that they felt the need to have a disclaimer, how it's a professional driver and you're not supposed to attempt it.

Yeah, I was all ready to go! I had commandeered my horse-drawn chariot with gladiators, a giant boulder, some cowboys, buffalos, steers, a guy on fire, and a tiger. I got them all ready to chase me while I drive down the street in a pickup truck, but the commercial said I shouldn't do it. Bummer.

Why guys acting black stopped being funny sometime in the early 90s. And even then, not too funny.

I love the Snickers commercials. The one with the caveman type dude is pumping gas and his friend comes out and says they are all out of snickers, and the guy screams NOOOOOOO!!! and throws the garbage can.

The Snickers one from a couple of years ago where the guy tries to throw his snickers on the fire to put it out is one of my favs.

this may be a little biased because I'm a nascar fan but some of the commercials are funny as hell.
