The point being that they had to KILL someone to receive punishment. In this case the perpetrators were somewhat properly dealt with. In other cases where the victim was not executed, there are no additional incentives against hate crimes to prevent something from happening. James Byrd would not likely have been dragged behind that car until he was dead if there were stronger laws regarding malicious acts against another human being simply because they were born black in Texas.

Especially when it was annouced weeks ago, so it wasn't exactly news. Just another celebrity that thinks people care about their life. I have enought stuff to worry about in my own life, I don't need to worry about celebrity hypocrites.

hate crime laws are a joke. It's already illegal to assault someone, or murder someone, but with hate crime laws anytime a white guy and a blck guy get in a fight (for example) the charges will be more severe even if race had absolutely nothing to do with it

For what it's worth I believe being gay is a sin just as much as say me paying for sex with a hot chick or wanting to have sex with 2 women. In the Bible Jesus did say it was wrong for a man to even think lust about a woman in his mind.But me along with the rest a hetrosexuals-males are not going around saying our sexual cravings are not a sin as the gay community does.

I'm pretty sure Jesus new about people being gay. After all when he died he was 33, had nver had sex with a woman and hung out with sailors.

Which is the bigger sin:

1) Lusting after another man.

2) Turning a perfectly good Anti-Rosie O'Donnell thread into a religious discussion.
