Did he look like he was 90 or something?

dudes' old. he should retire. the dyed hair and lack of motion (though still very sharp) is not cutting it...

I just checked Wikipedia and he is 90! I have to change my assessment as he's pretty sharp for his age.

He is not bad for 90. It could be a lot worse.

The Wiig show was not that bad. Wish they would do more episodes.

I wonder if Bravo let him do more shows but he had to have C or D list celebrities or some reality douche bags and he probably refused?

Re: Inside the Actors Studio -- Series Discussion Thread

Inside the Actors Studio, the iconic in-conversation series featuring actors talking about their craft, is returning with new episodes on the Ovation network. But sadly, its creator and host James Lipton — whose incredibly earnest screen presence gave way to the Will Ferrell Saturday Night Live impression that in turn gave us the word scrumtrulescent — will not be returning to the moderator’s chair. Because no one person could be expected to fill the singular void created by Lipton’s absence, a rotating cast of guest hosts will appear on the program, which will continue to be filmed at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University’s New York City campus. While Lipton will be missed, it’s nice to know that his most magnificent creation will live on, and Ovation will air old episodes from the Studio’s archives if you just need to hear his voice again. New episodes will begin airing in fall 2019.

Probably a lot of Alec Baldwin as new host.

Glad the show is continuing, though. Still waiting for Dustin Diamond to be on.

I can't imagine this show without James Lipton.

Re: Inside the Actors Studio -- Series Discussion Thread

Sucks Lipton is gone but I can see with his age he might not want to do it anymore and the show does not fit with the Bravo demographic. I hope they do a farewell or tribute show.

Waiting until Fall 2019 for new episodes is a long time though

Re: Inside the Actors Studio -- Series Discussion Thread

Vulture is pleased to exclusively announce that a retooled version of Inside the Actors Studio will premiere on Ovation on Sunday, October 13, but without the incorrigible James Lipton and his never-ending questionnaire. (Sob.) Instead, a group of actors will be stepping into a rotating interviewer role in his place. Alec Baldwin and Jane Lynch will two of these interviewers, who will be chatting with Henry Winkler and David Oyelowo, respectively, while the season’s remaining pairings will be announced soon. Quick, enroll as a student at Pace to get VIP seating!

I would love to watch, but unfortunately Dish doesn't carry Ovation since 2015.

Re: Inside the Actors Studio -- Series Discussion Thread

The Willem Dafoe episode was pretty good and there is a new 2 hr show with Ellen Burtsyn interviewing Pacino

I am glad it is back though I miss the old theme music.

I watched the Winkler interview...it was really good. Alec should be the permanent new host - he's really good at interviews.

Re: Inside the Actors Studio -- Series Discussion Thread

Lipton is getting too old to do it and Ovation bought the rights. With Lipton gone, Bravo finally could move on from it since it hasn't fit in with their trashy housewife bullshit for a long time. They kept it on pretty much solely because of Lipton and it was the network's first show.

It will get the respect it deserves on Ovation and they repeat old shows too.

Yeah, Lipton is 93, so it basically did it as long as he could.
