True, true, and admittedly, I don't know the nature of Riker's criticisms, other than that he should have been contacted and given a chance to defend himself before being suspended, which is quite understandable and constructive. I simply bristle when someone trucks out the old "this is Geoff’s board, not ours" mantra (and I'm not pointing fingers--I used to do it often, as well)--it's more complicated than that, and dismissing people's "right" to offer feedback is a route I'd like to see curbed on this forum.
As far as the private discussion with Geoff, no need for concern--the discussion was initiated by me, and had to take place privately because the problem stemmed from a thread of mine he closed. The "resolution", such as it was, worked entirely in Geoff's favor, but it isn't my intention to air our "dirty laundry". The core issue of "rights of freedom" is still a valid point of contention at DVDTalk, and I still intend to actively counter (in as peaceful a manner as possible) what I perceive to be unwarranted suspensions and other such punishments of fellow members. Whether this case applies, of course, is uncertain...

Having now read as much as I can handle from the Other and Feedback forums, allow me to state that, while Riker has made occasional valid points in his vehement posts-a-plenty, there comes a point where your opinion becomes clear, and if the powers that be still see it differently, you're left with the option to swallow the bitter pill (as I did after my row with Geoff) or seek forum enjoyment elsewhere. I'm in no rush to see Riker go, but if he can't choose between the two paths, and instead insists on filling up the forum with incessant rants, he's picked the most unproductive path of all...
I still say it's because he's an Aries...

Film - I told him that he is equally responsible in this and that I felt his attitude was poor. But, if you notice in my postings in the feedback forum, I still don't think he was treated 100% fair. But, this too shall pass.

Oh, I agree. As I said, he's made valid points. It's in his response that he's made a touchy situation worse, and minimized symapthy and understanding from other forum members that he would otherwise be due...

For better or for worse, this is true...

Mods,
We can probably lock this thread eh? It is suffiiently off topic now. And after reading through it I too have learned waaaaay too much about replicators than anyone I know would ever want to hear, especially from me

p.s. Sorry to hear about Riker's banning, I didn't see all of the carnage, but it seems like the situation is being discussed betweent he parties involved elsewhere. Maybe it will have a happy ending?
