It's actually terrible news for MLB in the short term with disastrous economic consequences for the game.

One of the big reasons MLB is pushing so hard into gambling is because the lucrative cable revenue model they've been enjoying is about to implode.

I'm a little late with the news here, but both Yes Network and MSG Network are announcing standalone streaming services. A bit pricey, but for us cord cutters, at least we have options now:

Those prices are insane.

Agreed...but the way I look at it (at least for now), YouTube tv plus paying for msg network is still significantly cheaper than I paid for Verizon Fios years ago. For me personally, MSG was the only gap I had when cutting the cord.

I think over time these prices will right size, but for now, at least there are options...

Looks like Bally Sports Plus has been a bust

Diamond Sports Group revealed that Bally Sports Plus has only 203,000 subscribers since launching nine months ago. The company’s CEO, David Preschlack, announced this is only 55 percent of Bally Sports’ goal. Sources speculate “the service is generating only around $36 million in annual revenue,” not even close to closing the gap in Bally Sports’ massive $9 billion worth of debt.

Re: Bally Sports Plus streaming service

The fact that they couldn't even get the streaming rights for all of the MLB teams that air on Bally Sports pretty much made this dead in the water. I know I was considering it as an option last year when it was announced, but without the baseball rights there was no reason to even look into it.
