Re: Podcast Master Thread
So I'm all the way up to episode 158 of Reply All now (The Case of the Missing Hit). Easily one of the best episodes they did, yet again. It's such a damn shame I'm coming so close to the end... but PJ's new new show (titled Weekly) sounds like it'll be excellent.

PJ Vogt’s new show, Search Engine, now has its first preview episode up. The show officially launches in July, ideally with new episodes every week.
So far, so good.

Honestly... the show takes a bit of a dive from that point on. I really wish they would retroactively publish the last two Bon Appetit episodes, regardless of the stuff that blew up. It was an interesting story in its own right and needed a conclusion, even if they felt it was flawed.
Regarding the PJ stuff.. I don't know how to feel about it all. The details of everything that went down are a bit confusing. This probably isn't the forum to get into it, though. Regardless, I thought Crypto Island was an excellent little series, and I think Search Engine is sounding like it'll be the spiritual successor to Reply All, albeit without Alex.

Search Engine is turning out to be pretty good for the most part. The latest -- a two-parter on Fentanyl -- is pretty heavy stuff.
The Studies Show is a very new podcast I've been listening to as well. Generally, the hosts are still working out the kinks, but basically the gist is that they talk about existing studies and how they're interpreted, often incorrectly, by other people. However, that's not always the case, and sometimes they don't come to as fine a point on a topic as I'd like, but I still find it entirely interesting to listen to.
Mindscape. Still listening to this off and on. I don't catch every episode, but I'll listen when I have the time. Sean Carroll is an excellent host to all sorts of guests, mostly talking science and philosophy.

Heard some sad news. Scott Wampler--a film critic and one of the hosts of The Kingcast (a podcast about Stephen King novels and movie adaptations)--died a few days ago. I haven't seen any details given beyond "natural causes."
I first heard of The Kingcast when the hosts were guests on the Blank Check podcast. I was a big Stephen King fan back in the day so I started checking out The Kingcast and enjoyed it. I've listened to several episodes, but am nowhere near being caught up with all of their episodes. They've posted a new, memorial episode about Wampler and about the future of the podcast, but I haven't listened to it yet.
RIP Mr. Wampler

For anyone who might be interested, the Blank Check podcast is covering early Spielberg movies now. Several years ago, they had done a Spielberg series that started with The Lost World, so now they are circling back to his earlier films, starting with Duel.

They just finished up a Lynch series.
I haven't gotten through that series yet.
Nearly 3 hours on That rabbit movie was just too much for me then a comprehensive coverage of The Return. Ugh

I might have to check that out. I just started watching through all of Spielberg's films starting at Duel and just finished Close Encounters. I was really impressed with both Duel & The Sugarland Express both films I hadn't seen before.

Found them maybe 2 months ago and have binged a ton of their content since. This is the first series I’ve been watching along with real time as David Lynch is not my type of weird. Watched Duel and Sugarland Express for the first time this month. Enjoyed both.

I just discovered the Alex has his own show now called Hyperfixed. I'm going to check it out soon. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas...d/id1762447440

I've been listening to Hyperfixed (Alex from Reply All's podcast) lately and I really like it. It's essentially an expanded edition of Super Tech Support, but they're covering all kinds of problems instead of solely tech problems. The Two Birds, 100 Stones episode is excellent.

I just listened to an interesting new podcast miniseries called "Dirtbag Climber." It's about an unsolved murder, but the really interesting stuff is the victim's past. Just five episodes so it's not a big commitment.

We went to a HDTGM live show this weekend and it was a ton of fun.
Paul Scheer goes into the audience and takes a ton of questions, very interactive.
Highly recommend a show if you have an opportunity to see them live m

She is a beautiful woman but that's not exactly a good photo of her.
First time I heard of her before I knew of HDTGM she was on a fake show that was a parody of the Bachelor called Burning Love.
it was pretty good for a while.

Re: Podcast Master Thread
A post on reddit introduced me to two new podcasts. One is called "Dropping Names" and is hosted by Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes, of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame. It's not a ST-centered podcast, they just sit down with other actors/celebrities and talk. The other is called "Once We Were Spacemen" and is hosted by Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk. Likewise, this podcast is not just about Firefly, they have conversations with other people they know and have worked with.
The post that brought these to my attention was a youtube link to the episode of Dropping Names in which Fillion and Tudyk appear together as guests of Spiner and Frakes.

Dropping Names is good, but they have a gimmick of Frakes dinging a bell every time a famous name is dropped (hence the title of the show) and it gets REAL annoying REALLY fast.

Yeah, they were even talking about it being annoying in that latest episode. I'll bet they drop the bell soon.
