I am interested but figured it wouldn’t be done before my sub expired. I might watch an episode to get a feel for it.

re: Apple TV -- streaming service

I just bought a new iPhone, so I have the offer for 3 free months. It expires on 03/02/2024.

My wife noticed that she also has an offer. We're not sure why.

I know that Apple says it's one offer per family, but how do they determine that?

It would be nice if we could get 6 months out of it.

Also, I'm assuming the expiry date is referring to the latest you can 'accept' the offer, rather than an end date for the 3 month period, as it's almost 4 months from now.

Yes that's true. Once you accept the 3 months starts.

If you've linked up your accounts in Family Sharing: https://www.apple.com/family-sharing/

Ah, I see it. Looks like my wife and I are a family.

I see that you can 'leave family sharing.' I may try that before starting either free 3 months.

Thanks!

I mean what's stopping you from just signing up for a new account (if all you want to do is watch something?)

Just the lack of desire to pay for something that can be free.

Also, I think it's dumb that they offer you something, based on a purchase, but then tell you only one of you can actually take them up on the offer.

re: Apple TV -- streaming service

I just got an email today from Apple about the price increase that takes effect February 1st.

However, I have Apple TV + along with Netflix through T-Mobile and they pay for it. So they sent a 2nd email saying if you get Apple through a certain provider, you will not be charged the increase.

I think Apple has some quality shows, but I know for some of you it may not be worth it. So use your best judgment on what works best for you.

Michael Douglas as Ben Franklin. That should be interesting.

Where are you seeing that? It just went up to $9.99/month or $99/year in October. Nothing on a Google search for a new increase.

This was a few days ago.
Other then that I haven’t seen anything.
Maybe this is the first Max has seen the price increase to $10

I don’t know what Max was paying before and he may have been on a carrier or other 3rd party deal.

But pricing directly from Apple has been:

$4.99/$49.99 initially
$6.99/$69.99 starting Oct 2022
$9.99/$99.99 starting Oct 2023

There has been no news of the price going up when subscribing directly thru Apple since the Oct 2023 increase.

He likely had a yearly sub that was close to expiring, so he got the email.

re: Apple TV -- streaming service

I was on the free 6 month trial that ended recently. I got charged 6.99 in January then got the notice about the crazy increase that would start in Feb.
Maybe I got that first month for 6.99 because the free trial stated that that's what I would start being charged after the trial period ends. Either way, go fuck yourself with a 43% increase.

2 free months of Apple+ thanks to Leo - at least that's where I heard about it as it was on his IG page as part of a promotion for Killers of the Flower Moon.
