Ah. Well, maybe I'll do this deal and see how much the livestream matters to us later. Thanks, Meathead.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

FYI, you can get $2.50 cashback with Rakuten on the Black Friday deal.

I was able to sign up under my wife's name.

I had signed up for a free trial a few months ago (so I could watch their exclusive MLB Phillies game ), and when I cancelled they offered me $2.50 a month which expires in Jan.
I cancelled that promotion, but it doesn't expire until next billing on 12/7 and doesn't take the promo.

Personally, I think the commercials are bad. For 30 minute shows there were 2 breaks, and every other episode had one in the beginning. Sometimes they glitch, I get audio only.
Movies aren't bad, I just mute it.

Looks like the Plus option is now $6/month... I'll wait a few months before I add it since there's not much new stuff. And if I remember correctly, when I did this last time, at the end of my year of $19.99 I was still paying the $5 and had access to Plus.

I still think it's dumb that you can't gift subscriptions like this... I guess it would mess up auto renewal and maybe there's some fraud risk, but I'd basically gift this to a bunch of people for Xmas if I could. Slipping them a 20 and telling them to go subscribe themselves just isn't the same.

My 6 month $12 promo subscription from Fandango expires in January. So this is perfect. Just signed up using a different email and now I'm set for another year.

Is there really no way to turn off auto-play with Peacock?

Nope. One of the most requested features too.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

FBI International and FBI Most Wanted (all seasons) have been added to Peacock.

and the main show is on Paramount + (all seasons)

Very weird licensing

I wonder if the upcoming new seasons will also be on Peacock.

I think Paramount + has "In-season" 1st run rights for all 3 shows. It's just that the spin-offs were licensed off to Peacock for when the season is over.

I know this is not really related but it reminded me that Peacock carries the show Snapped but only back to Season 12. I wish they carried all the seasons.

I had a fraternity brother featured (he was one of the killers) on episode 2 of Season 6 that I have never been able to catch or find streaming anywhere. It is even missing on Youtube.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

Peacock now added all 3 seasons of Law and Order: OC

However, the original show only has 8 seasons available out of 22. The new seasons (21 and 22) are not available. That really sucks. I wanted to catch up on those. I think it has something to do with the TV licensing of the original show.

I had to buy an episode of the main show for $2 because it was tied into a 3-part crossover with OC and SVU.

The old NBC show Las Vegas with James Caan and Josh Duhamel will be available December 29th. About damn time.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

I recall it ended on a big cliffhanger and was canceled during the WGA strike year. Can't believe that was 16 years ago. I never saw the 1st season, I watched season 2 until the end, but have very little memory of it. I will re-visit it.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

We were all disappointed last night because we were at a friend's home who doesn't have an OTA antenna and was insistent Peacock said they'd have the Time Square ball drop live, but we couldn't find it. We found NYE fireworks in London, that was it.

Sounds like they didn't have the premium version of Peacock... it's the only plan that has the local NBC channel.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

I saw Las Vegas was up so I watched the Pilot.

The theme song “A little less conversation” was changed to a generic song. But I think that was also done on the DVD release.

Other than that, I didn’t notice any glaring music changes.

Yeah, they swapped the song a while back for reruns. It's the theme the show used in EU, I believe and it's terrible for the into once you're used to the classic music.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

I just dropped my subscription as I was done watching the shows I wanted to see and then Peacock sends me an email to come back for $1.99 for the next six months. I usually only keep streaming subscriptions for a few months at a time but that's not a bad deal.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service

Peacock might be the most annoying app.
They recently announced plenty of 4k sports content then soon after said Nevermind.

They only offer their full 4k content on the Comcast streaming boxes and a small handful of Roku devices.
Still everything they offer on those unsupported devices is listed as 4k with DV/DA etc.
