Re: Disney+ streaming service

Did anyone's Disney+ apps on their phone or Roku ask you to update some of your profiles? Sitter went to put on Nemo for my son and it was asking for all his profile info to be updated and wouldn't allow access to his profile. So she just put on youtube. I went into the Roku app and both my son and wife's profiles were asking to be updated. It was a pain. Did they make a change? We use it almost daily and it seemed fine up until yesterday.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Today is the day of the price hike so maybe there's something related to that?

Yes, I just checked and got the "Let's update your profile" screen.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

We got it last night.
It asked for my wife's DOB and gender.
Data/demographic collection for ad serving maybe? Even if you're on the ad-free plan it's probably easier to collect it for every profile.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Fyi if you have the bundle through Verizon
You are currently subscribed to the Disney Bundle. Beginning January 11, 2023, the Disney Bundle (Disney+ (No Ads), Hulu (With Ads), ESPN+ (With Ads)) will increase from $13.99 per month to $14.99 per month.

For as long as you remain on an eligible Verizon plan, you will not be charged the new rate until the end of your promotional period or your next billing date on or after January 11th, whichever is later.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

That second paragraph confuses me.
We have the V bundle.
I guess Verizon can tell us but I wonder if our bill will go up.

So who are the first advertisers? Guess Bud Light won’t be on this one.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

I got the Verizon email, but it wasn't very clear...the bundle is included as part of my plan price...so does that mean my plan price is going up $1? Because it was offered as a "free" bonus for the tier I'm in - there was no promotional period indicated.

EDIT: I just checked with Verizon and learned "If the Bundle is already included in your plan, there will be no impact."

Leaving this post up in case others are interested.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Yeah confusing wording but I think this basically means as long as you keep your eligible plan with Verizon, you will continue to get the bundle for free.

Edit: the promotional thing is for idiots like me. I signed up for that 3 year discounted rate before it launched but then Verizon started offering it. I basically have 3 years banked if it ever goes away through Verizon or I switch providers.

Me also. Paid for 3 years. Got the 1 year free with Verizon. Then switched to the included in Verizon plan for free. Therefore should still have 3 years prepaid waiting as well.

I didn't get on the Verizon/Disney bundle until this month. Still have almost a full year left of my original 3 year Disney+ deal.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Interesting thing about the ads plan- they say they won't show ads during play on any "Kid's" profile, but they've taken a bunch of G-rated movies (like Toy Story) OFF access from Kids' profiles!

A few people on YouTube have gone over the ads, seems sponsors include Nintendo and some cruise and vacation deals.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

I saw that same message ... but my "promotional period" never had any end date on it. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Now it looks like they are only giving people 6 months of Disney, et. al.

I just got it too. I don't really see why I need to provide my kid's DOB and gender here, you'd think they'd make it optional for kids profiles at least (and I know you can put in dummy data). Also it really sucks to have to put in the password on the TV with a remote so I just let him watch on my account for now.

The actual Disney Plus site is stating February 1: https://www.disneyplus.com/movies/bl...r/7MAONYZ92wDT

Edit: Now they changed it to coming soon.

I see that Tweet from MCU direct was deleted since it was wrong. Ha. Should have just waited for the confirmed date, not from a 3rd party source.

I really hope they didn't change it to Feb 1 to try to cash in on Black History Month.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Or... the January 20th date was never correct and posted by an unreliable source. Plus Feb 1 is a Wednesday and that has been when they've been releasing things lately.

It will have been 82 days. Not exactly quick. Originally Disney said it was doing 45 days during the height of the pandemic.

I've only seen it once on the Friday it premiered. I'll probably watch it one more time on Disney +, but it's not really rewatchable IMO and not something I care to own.
