Re: Disney+ streaming service

Yeah after about 30 mins it resolved itself. Assuming lots of people hitting it at same time. Watched last hour and a half with no issues.

I was watching earlier and had no problems. Looked great. Just now looked at it again. Still looks nice.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

That’s awesome. I have 3D for Shang-Chi coming so will hold off on that one, but will see IM, CW and Ragnarok. Maybe others. But will look great even though 3D is my preferred and I have all those, but I can stand to watch it biggie.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Disney + Day was kind of meh, especially for the 2-year anniversary of the service. They had some cool announcements for so much shit coming out in the next 2 years. However, I didn't really like how scattered the announcements were as they came as posts on social media as opposed to a formal presentation like DC Fandome or Netflix's Tadum. Marvel and Pixar kind of did presentations, but they were just promotional reels on the Disney + app. It was all over the place.

The Marvel presentation kind of fell flat as it was a 14 minute sizzle reel with 90% recap footage from previous content.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Disney is a much bigger and broader company and they have multiple events throughout the year… D23, Investor Day. I don’t think this was supposed to anything like a paneled event. Just a celebration of the launch date by adding a bunch of content and making announcements of stuff that is forthcoming.

One of the best things to come out of Disney+ Day was The Simpsons in Plusaversary short. Really a cute little mashup of Disney/Marvel/Star Wars characters interacting with characters from The Simpsons. Almost made me wish it was something a tad longer than a short.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

No doubt some will call this "nit-picky", but has anyone else noticed on the regular app when the screen shrinks at the end credits (which it shouldn't be doing at all, but I'll digress a bit here) it also shows the rating banner at the top of the picture? If it plays a preview trailer or anything else that doesn't have credits, the rating banner shows up during the last few seconds. Chromecast does not shrink the screen (it doesn't show the Skip buttons either, which I also hate so those are good things), but still shows the rating info- in some cases before the credits start; on the new Olaf shorts it appears right before the punchline. This can't possibly be intentional.

I was using Airplay to get around the annoyances of their interface, but in June it quit passing Atmos (HBO Max and even Paramount Plus still pass it fine.) The Chromecast would be a decent alternative if it didn't have that rating banner pop up before the end. It just annoys me when anything appears onscreen that isn't part of the show I'm watching, call me obsessive but it shouldn't be so difficult to avoid.

I've notified them of both these issues (Atmos and the rating banner) and they still haven't been fixed. My year subscription runs out this month and I'm debating whether to renew. The annoyances of the regular app are unacceptable with or without Atmos, but on the other hand I haven't been entirely impressed with Atmos overall given that my setup isn't the greatest to begin with- it does a decent job of faking the height channels without the Atmos data there most of the time, but at the same time I don't like paying for something that isn't delivering everything that it should be. I've read various reports of Atmos not working on other equipment, and one of the phone reps said that Atmos not working has been one of their most frequent technical complaints. I've even heard that when the app was updated this week, Atmos quit working on some other equipment. I don't see how that's possible anyways; I thought the Atmos data was always encoded in the Dolby Digital Plus signal but I'm clearly wrong about that.

No more 4K on my Sony 900h. I last had it on Thursday I believe. Hopefully they’re working on a fix.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Been hearing of lots of problems with Sonys lately. I have to wonder how many people they have doing quality control. Has anyone else noticed the rating banner appearing near the end of shows?

Disney+ Canada just added 25 seasons of The Amazing Race. I’m excited.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

I got in on the three-year deal for D+ just before it debuted. I wonder if they'll have something similar again when that's up (November 2023). I think right now the most they have is a one-year subscription.

It's up November 2022. And no way will they have a deal like that again unfortunately.

Yep, you’re right. Pandemic has me not knowing what year we’re in, lol.
I’ll just sign up for whatever their yearly deal is. I don’t care about Hulu or ESPN, so no bundle for me.

I think 2022 will be a huge year for D+. Lots of content I’m looking forward to on the way, and more announced behind that. D+ is a staple for me, unless their prices get crazy.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

Not sure if there will be Miranda style music, or just straight DTV style sitcom

Re: Disney+ streaming service

I just noticed on Just Watch that all the One Shot short films are back. I guess some of them were removed temporarily, including the Agent Carter one.

I know it probably doesn't matter since most of you probably don't care about these. But, just wanted to note they're back.

Re: Disney+ streaming service

I submitted feedback, so hopefully Disney+ will implement it.

For shows that have new episodes weekly, I would like to see an upcoming schedule. For example, Book of Boba Fett:

Episodes 1-6 - watch now

Episode 7 - available 2-9-2022

List the upcoming episodes with generic episode titles and generic title card images (to avoid spoilers). This will help the user avoid having to Google how many episodes there are (also to avoid spoilers while searching the internet).

This is similar to how Hulu Live network shows are listed in the app, so it's not an insane request.

They seem to have ignored most feedback so far.

Interesting. Will they still be on Netflix as well?

"Updated parental controls"
Yeah, I think The Punisher might be a bit much for some kid looking for Bluey.

Or those rough sex scenes in Jessica Jones.

"Mommy, what Jessica doing with that man in the toilet room?"
