You can pre-order Disney Plus right now
When it officially launches, it will be a 7 day free trial and then it will either be a monthly charge ($6.99 per month) or a full year charge ($69.99)

If someone wants HULU as well, it seems that the bundle will still be a better offer when it's out?

If there's no discount, I'm not sure why anyone would sign up early and pay up front.

Either way, I signed up. A year will be worth it for me regardless with all the cartoon reruns it'll have.

I figured they charged us for the D23 deal because of the discount but it makes more sense to just charge people once the service actually starts.

I doubt you'll be able to have any sense how the final product will be within the first 7 days anyways. Service will be clearly going through a lot of growing pains.
I guess most of us who got in on the D23 deal are suckers and hope the service will be around in a few years from now. I paid with my Amex so I'll be able to get a refund if it doesn't pan out, regardless if Disney says no-refunds.

No service is going to make everyone happy right away. There is always going to be "that guy" who has to say something or nit pick on something.

This is Disney, the biggest entertainment corporation in the world. Disney + will be around. If anything, content will always get more expensive, so I will fully expect some kind of price change in a few years. That 3 year D23 promotion was simply to lock in subscribers at a low fixed rate.

^ I wonder what would happen if you tried to subscribe for another 2 or 3 year deal with DMR, as in would you be able to and would they stack?

I continue to not see any good news on the Samsung Smart TV support. Our other option upstairs is we have a Sony Blu-ray player with tons of apps. Any word on if that will work for Disney+ at all?

This is actually a huge deal ahead of the Xmas season and whatever refresh of the fire sticks they're hoping to sell. As big as amazon is, they almost have to cave (and I realize it took them a long long time to give in to google/youtube).

There's a lot of people with Amazon streaming devices because they're cheaper than Roku and Apple TV. You'll have a pretty big audience shut out if they don't agree to terms on something.
Amazon Fire TV sticks both HD and 4K were available for as low as $25 last Holiday season.

All that is true, but I kept telling myself that Amazon was going to cave for the next Disney/Marvel/Star Wars blockbuster on physical media, and then there would be no buy button on release day. Even when they still cared about selling physical media.
That said, this does seem to be the next big thing, and I’m sure Disney is threatening them with all the subscribers they have already, which is one reason they offered the cheap deal.
I saw my first Disney+ ad on TV, though it may be because I’ve started watching TV again for the fall season.

Even if Disney+ being brand new wouldn't be missed by current owners, removing stuff like Disney Channel would.
