I'm using my Xbox one for Sling. Any advantage to the Roku stick? I plan to stick with Sling, so should I at least get one for free? Currently on the 1 month trial.

I don't like the Roku Stick for it, as it's a bit sluggish so no, not really. Plus the XOne supports IR. Roku 3 is fantastic tho.

HBO ($15 add-on) will be available Saturday. Not sure if it includes access to HBO Go or not.

From the Sling blog:
The rumors are true, and it’s not an April Fool’s joke: HBO is coming to Sling TV.
Starting next week, Sling TV will be the first and only Internet TV service to offer live HBO and ESPN. Sling TV will offer HBO’s linear channel, as well as the mountain of on-demand content that HBO provides on its other platforms.
You don’t need me to tell you what a big deal this is, both for us and for our customers: HBO delivers hit shows and movies that TV viewers crave, and with this addition Sling TV becomes the only streaming service that offers both HBO and ESPN without a cable subscription.
In addition to all the movies that HBO keeps in its on-demand rotation, from top box office hits to a broad spectrum of popular films, customers can watch both current series like Veep, Silicon Valley, VICE, Real Time With Bill Maher, Girls, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and classics like The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Eastbound & Down, and many, many more.
Best of all, we’ll be up and running in time for one of the most important TV moments of the year: the April 12 season premiere of Game of Thrones.
HBO will be available for $15 when customers sign up for the $20 Best of Live TV core package, and will be available on all devices that Sling TV supports: Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick; current-generation Roku players and Roku TV models; Xbox One; Android and iOS devices; and Macs and PCs.
We could not be more excited!

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV
I signed up for the 7 day free trial and added HBO but couldn't find the HBO VOD, just live TV. This is on a Fire TV stick, I haven't tried it on Roku yet. Anyone able to access HBO VOD?

Does it say "No Content Available" on the VOD section for HBO? (Select HBO and press Up on the controller)

Working fine, are you on a Roku 3? Did you reboot that bitch after updating? Occasionally both will stay in memory.

I got my Roku stick on Friday, ordered on Tuesday, and it came with the Roku 2 remote. Works great now but when I first started using it the apps would took a while to load.
I didn't realize that you had to push up to see the VOD shows on each channel. Very happy with my choice of switching from the Fire Stick to the Roku Stick.

Not too thrilled about random 1-2 second jumps, or loading screens showing up during Mad Men. Does this kind of thing happen often during a live viewing (on a Roku 3)?

I don't have skipping issues but have heard of others with the issue.

I watch on a Fire Stick & get the random jumps. I'm really not pleased with this service at all. It's just not an enjoyable way to watch TV. The picture is murky & barely hi def, the sound is limited to 2.0, and you have these jumps. Plus it's really, really hard to get used to watching live TV again.
This feels very much like watching cable in the 1980's. Not something I want to go back to.

Video is very nice on my Xbox one. Currently watching the marathon of Turn on my phone over wifi, and no problems.

Only real issue now is the load time. Sometimes the app won't even open. Then I have to close and restart, and do this a few times to connect. And that's not wi-fi, that's a wired connection. :/

When it's working for me, the picture is sharp and the sound is clear. In the past week, it works about 40% of the time. As of right now, this app has gone from amazing to ball blisteringly painful to use.

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV
So I just found out Sling TV will work with an appleTV by using screen mirroring on an iphone or ipad. Just started the trial now ... it works ... eventually. I'm not sure what the issue is, whenever I start up the app to stream TV, I have to turn mirroring on and off a number of times before it starts going. Lots of "There was an error playing this content" messages before it finally worked.

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV
I finally got tired of the audio jumps so I tried connecting my Fire Stick to my TV's HDMI input rather than go through the AVR. And gone are the dropouts. Plus the picture seems to be improved.
