Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

One thing I noticed during my 7 day trial ... it appears everyone gets the East Coast feed. So me, being on the west coast, end up with live TV where all the shows are on wonky times. Basically means that when I normally watch adult swim at night, they are playing the crappier adult swim programming that they put on LATE at night

Bloomberg is now in the base package and two new Latin packages (one for telenovelas, the other for sports) have been added.

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

Does anyone know how to add HBO now that the trial period has expired? There is seemingly no way to do in-app. I e-mailed Sling support & they didn't seem to know. They told me to ask Amazon since I subscribed via them for the Fire stick, but I can't get any info from them. The e-mail on the 1 month trial said they would send another e-mail with instructions on how to add before the trial period ended, but I never recieved.

I can't believe they make it this difficult to buy add ons!

I'm not sure, maybe they're ironing out the kinks still, I know I had a similar issue initially too but now mine works correctly:

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

Well, I finally got someone at Amazon & apparently there is no way to upgrade your service. You have to cancel & re-subscribe. But the catch is, you have to wait for your current subscription to run out before you can re-sign. So it's Sunday & I still have my old sub, now way to me to watch Game of Thrones tonight.

What a ridiculous mess for such a wonky service. I decided to ditch Sling & get my HBO through Apple TV. So now not only do I save the $20 for the basic commerical infested package, but I get HBO in beautiful HD with DD 5.1. Not the smeary, 2.0, stuttering crap I had on Sling.

I guess this service is ok for someone who just wants cheap TV for background, but this certainly didn't work out for my needs.

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

They STILL haven't gotten 5.1 on it yet? Have they at least gotten the frame rate fixed for any of the non-ESPN channels, not that those channels' audience seems to notice?

I don't see this as "cheap TV"- maybe it's cheap compared to cable, but with all the commercials they show on these channels I don't see why I should have to pay ANYTHING for it. Besides, if you just want background, you've got NowherePorn for free

And the series finale of Mad Men seems to have locked them up for me. WTF.

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

I've got HBO on my Sling, and with the on demand library, I get every single episode of Game of Thrones. Wonder if I should binge and cancel, or keep it. Decisions, decisions.

Looks like Sling TV added Polaris+ to the basic lineup of shows.

I don't see it anywhere... and what is it?

Edit: Oh it's listed on their website. Looks like a mix of Maker and G4.

I can't find it now. It was there this morning but I couldn't select it so maybe it's not ready to be used yet.

It was there earlier on FireTV but then started getting error 2-4 scrolling past it. Now it's totally gone after I restarted the app.

I'm not sure if it's in the basic package, or the movie package, but I noticed last night, TCM has been added to Sling TV.

It's on the Hollywood Extra tier with Epix.

Polaris+ is back on now (on the Standard tier).

Neat

The Hollywood Extra tier has been worth the $5 for me, I like having random movies like Catching Fire and Skeleton Twins pop up in the background.

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

How well does Sling tv work on the Xbox One? Any buffering issues? If I can't get a new deal from ATT I am considering going with Sling TV.

My connection speed is 18 MBPS. However I might switch Internet to Brighthouse for 35 MBPS

... and we killed it again tonight @ 9 with the Fear the Walking Dead premiere. Buffering/Catching Up/Blank Screen. Their FB page is littered with complaints. Seriously... if they can't get their service to work properly during peak times then what's the point?!

Seems to be a nightly occurrence on Adult Swim as well.

http://deadline.com/2016/02/sling-tv...ax-1201700556/

Cinemax now available for those with Sling.

However, it's a little expensive for the budget conscious at $10/month.

Cinemax original shows include:
Banshee (ending this upcoming season)
Outcast (new series)
Quarry (new series)
The Knick
Strike Back ended this past Fall

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

I signed up for the free trial and have been using it for a couple days on the Xbox One and it runs terribly. I have great internet and have zero problems using HBO Now, Netflix or Hulu. Watching basketball right now and it's buffering every 2-3 minutes. It's pretty much unwatchable.

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

Have my calendar marked to cancel my trial in a couple more days- had it for 2 months and found nothing at all worth watching on it. Will have to check through the channels at least one more time before it runs out just to see if the quality's gotten any better (or possibly worse.)

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

Huh, I'm just finishing up my 7-day trial, and I'm going to stick with it. I'm on a Roku 2XS, and I haven't had any major buffering issues---although I don't think that I've watched a prime-time NBA game yet.

I do like the channel selection quite a bit, too---it covers most of what I was missing with my local channels-only cable.

Re: Dish's Sling TV - Streaming TV

The only time I have any problems is during the first showing of the night of Fear the Walking Dead or the Walking Dead episodes. Other than that I have never really had a problem with Sling.

This was a big reason I got Sling (for AMC) and the main reason I dropped it. If they can't handle streaming during prime viewing hours then it's not worth it to me.

Their technical support was a joke. The "fix" seemed to be uninstall the app and reinstall it... Like I'm supposed to have to do that in the middle of TWD?
