Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
No sports so at least that’s not an issue for me. I watch about 10 channels on a regular basis. I thought about spectrum choice, but I heard/read that those are only in SD and after fees it comes out to around $40. So for a bit more money, I can get a lot more with Hulu.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
If you're a sports fan, you get none of your local RSNs on Hulu with live TV.
Hulu with Live TV is about $65/month. |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Can’t you let a friend or family member use without giving out your credentials? Can’t they get the code and I activate on my phone, logging into my account and all that and it will just auto work in seconds on their tv, wherever they are? Not just this, but other services, like STARZ or any really if I just punch in the code on my phone.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
No. Stop asking

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Hulu Live is one of the strictest services out there.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Don’t confuse Hulu Live no ads as “no ads”. Sound confusing? It was to me initially.
The no ads only applies to Hulu owned content (library). If you watch On Demand programming on Hulu Live, you’ll still get ads because you’re watching the specific channel’s On Demand library (History, Bravo, TBS, etc) And of course, Live TV has live ads, like any other cable or satellite subscription. But not paying for a physical DVR is the best. Paying for DVR these days is a waste of money. And yes, Hulu Live reads your IP address, so you only get four location changes in a single year. So you can’t share Hulu outside of your “home” location. Pro tip - several times a year, Best Buy has a sale - free $10 or $15 BB e-gift card when purchasing a $100 Hulu e-gift card. If you get Hulu Live, you can use up that gift card in ~1.5 months. |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Yep I assumed live tv would still have ads, but friends have mentioned that regular Hulu with ads is really annoying.
I’ll keep an eye out for the BB deal. Thanks for the help guys. I’ll cancel dtv soon unless they give me some ridiculous price reduction |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Todd,
I will throw my opinion into the mix as well. I too hate commercials. I was subscribed to Hulu Live no adds with enhanced DVR during football season. It cost around $83 and was really nice since you had no adds on Hulu content and could fast forward through commercials on any recorded live content. Excellent yet expensive choice. Recently I selected YouTube TV for football season because it gave me ESPN like Hulu but for football games, it also gave me the option to select "KEY" plays only. This option allowed me to just view the key plays in a game that I was not interested in watching the whole game. The cost for YouTube TV was around $65. Once you get use to streaming, you will be able to adjust your selected services monthly to only pay for what you need. For example this month I have Hulu/no adds, Paramount+, and Discovery+ at a total cost of $30.34. During college football season, I will have YouTube TV (football and all live channels) and Frndly TV (Hallmark Christmas Movies) for my largest bill of $70.98. Good luck! |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Aye, worth noting that YouTube TV is about $74 after taxes, but nowhere near as restrictive as Hulu Live. You can actually add "Family Members" that can sign in with their own Gmail accounts and 3 can be using it simultaneously.
It all comes down to preferences though. |
Hulu login problem
Anyone else unable to login to Hulu on their PC?
We signed up for the Hulu, Disney+, & ESPN deal through Verizon after getting new phones in May. For various reasons, it's taken some time to get to his issue. We did get signed up for all three services eventually (for some reason it's not one and done. You have to sign up and activate each of them separately). We did have a bit of an issue finally getting signed up with Hull, but that got resolved... until about a week ago. Now, for some reason, we can't get past the Captcha process on either of our computers. It just keeps looping back to a "choose all the (fill-in-the-blank)" pics. It appears to be a computer and ISP issue. We've tried with 3 different browsers, emptied caches, cleared history, deleted cookies, etc., etc. We can't login through a web browser on our phones either, unless we do it via cellar. Same with the Hulu app. It only logs in via cellular. Doing it through our ISP over our home network and they have the same issue as the computers. Don't have a tablet with us at the moment, but I figure it would be the same. SO talked to 3-4 people with Hulu CS over 3+ hour. They were all nice and tried various things, but were ultimately unable to resolve the problem. It is a known issue with Captcha, but they have no idea when (or if) it will be resolved. And here's the monkey wrench to our ISP theory. We have a small Roku TV and it was having an issue logging in also, when we tried to activate it thru the TV itself. It gives you a choice to activate it thru the TV or thru a PC by giving you a code to input online via your PC. Since we were able to login on our phones, we did it that way and now the Roku TV works... thru our home network via our ISP. My sister lent us a Roku Stick to use with our non-smart, living room TV and after going thru the same activation process with our phones, it's working also... via our home network thru our ISP. -confused- |
Re: Hulu login problem
I just logged into Hulu on my Windows PC and everything was fine.

Re: Hulu login problem
Did you try unplugging it and plugging it back in? ;)

Re: Hulu login problem
Barring that, manually set your PC DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Re: Hulu login problem
Food for thought. How about asking Hulu customer service?

Re: Hulu login problem
Thanks for the replies, but... been there, done that with every suggestion.
Changed Hulu password. Reset modem after talking to ISP CS... between discussions with Hulu CS. Hulu CS said our address wasn't being blocked, but suggested we contact our ISP. We did and they inform us they had no problem logging into Hulu. A relative on another ISP in a nearby small town used our login credentials and got in. That sharing with the relative is okay, btw, because it's part of the family plan we're all on. We just can't access Hulu on our PCs at this time. Which, as I mentioned in my post, we were able to do until about a week ago. This issue with Captcha is known to Hulu (a CS admitted it), and it is not a recent problem from what I have been able to find out online. That said, I have no problems with Captcha on a couple of other sites I go to. It's just a Hulu login problem. FWIW, our ISP is Buckeye Broadband. We're in Ohio (where all this has been going on) for the summer, and we will return at the end of August to Arizona and CenturyLink. Where (and when) I will find out (hopefully) if this is just a local issue... or "our" problem for some reason. |
Re: Hulu login problem
Curious if you are using any kind of Ad-Blocker or Network Protection?
It didn't impact Hulu, that I recall, but I'm using Pi-Hole as a network wide blocker and I had to adjust settings for YouTube and at least one other that I can't recall before they would work on my Roku. Not suggesting you are using the same setup but you might have something. |
Re: Hulu login problem
What happens if you tether your computer to your cell phone's data connection, instead of using your home ISP?

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Hulu Live $64.99 tier now has NFL Network included.
Started on July 29th |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
On Tuesday, Hulu began notifying subscribers that as of Oct. 8, the price of Hulu’s two on-demand plans — with ads and without commercials — will increase by $1 for both current and new subscribers. Hulu with ads will increase from $5.99 to $6.99 per month and Hulu (No Ads) will increase from $11.99 to $12.99. The changes do not affect the pricing of the Hulu + Live TV plans ($64.99/month with VOD ads; $70.99/month without VOD ads) or the Disney Bundle, which remains at $13.99/month in the U.S. for Hulu with ads, Disney Plus and ESPN Plus. Indeed, with the recent price hikes for each of Disney’s individual streaming services, the Disney Bundle is now even more attractive — offering a 36% discount compared with purchasing the three separately. |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
So the people on the $2 Black Friday plan will go up too I guess?
|
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
$1 that's fine. I'm on the ad free VOD plan and right now I've been completely satisfied with Hulu. Have had no problems other than 1 instance where someone in the Middle East tried to hack into my account, but Hulu did email me to alert me of the suspicious activity.
