There's rumors that Disney + and Hulu might merge.

I know most of you don't follow the entertainment trades, but Disney today laid off a bunch of executives. Some of them worked for Hulu.

This documentary just came to HULU. Just in case there are any movie historians out there who are interested.

Would make sense to merge them, though I'd be afraid that'd mean less or no content on Hulu from non-Disney studios. Hopefully among those who were let go were the ones who thought it was a good idea to put logo bugs on the screen- that was the main reason why I haven't subscribed until now, Airplay on the Roku thankfully eliminates those and other annoyances and I've finally been able to enjoy the shows and will keep my subscription as long as I can do that.

Was going to rent that Skin documentary, will have to get around to watching it really soon now. (Definitely not Disney material.)

I wonder if Hulu's going to lose all the HGTV, Travel Channel, Food Network stuff now that Discovery's starting their own streaming service.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who paid for 3yrs up front of D+. If they merge I refuse to pay any more.

Why would you think you would have to pay more?

I think it’s inevitable that all content is going to be fractured off under their own respected streaming services. It’s a matter of time before Hulu stops being a hub for other’s content. And if Hulu were to fold under the Disney banner, many of the smaller factions who have deals with Hulu will find a new home (something like Neon’s deal comes to mind).

Hulu Live aspect kind of complicates things. Maybe they keep Hulu just as that type of service, and then just move all the library content to Disney.

I was planning on stopping Disney+ after my son and I see Mandalorian S2. I keep Amazon because of Prime, Netflix and Hulu as well for choices. I may drop D+ and Hulu and see what falls from the tree later.

Happiest Season was a very charming Christmas Rom/Com. Kristen Stewart is becoming one of my favorite actresses.

I wish the comedy was a little funnier. There weren't any moments where I laughed out loud. But I chuckled through the entire movie. I guess I was expecting a little more slapstick like Birdcage or Meet the Parents. This film was more grounded.

Not very happy with the possible (inevitable) merger of Hulu and Disney+. I had Disney free for a year with verizon, and was going to cancel now that it is up, as soon as Mandalorian is finished.

I have Hulu Live, and I really love it. Knowing that it is more than likely going to get butchered is a bummer.

I dont think it'll happen personally but also hope it won't. I have no interest in Disney+ and am very happy with Hulu as it is.

I mentioned in another thread, but we’re in the middle of a cable and streaming evolution, mostly at the hands of studios and networks. They’re trying to see what’s the best way to maximize their revenue with their properties. So Hulu will be changing at some point I’m guessing. Discovery starting their own app is just another step in this ever changing world.

They won't even give you a bundle discount with non ad-revenue Hulu. I doubt a merger is coming any time soon.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

Merging Hulu Live with Disney+ sounds like a logistical nightmare. And if the rumors just mean Hulu (and not Live), then that's even more of a headache to figure out.

If they just port over all the Hulu library into Disney+, then what happens to the Live subscribers? They just get a barebones Live model, without the Hulu library? The Live price better be reduced if that's the case. But that's just a slap in the face to the Live subscribers too.

So hopefully just rumors, and it won't actually happen.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

Perhaps they won't completely merge both services. Maybe just push more Hulu/D+ bundles. They could also use the same UI for both services, and easily switch between the two on the main menu. Use the same Profiles/Watchlists on both. But still keep them available as individual services.

Right now you can add Showtime for $5 per month through June. I bit.

If you have Hulu and ESPN+ this may be good news to you...

@Disney: Starting early next year, ESPN+ and all of its programming will become available for viewing directly within the @Hulu interface. Users can sign up or enjoy existing ESPN+ subscriptions without ever having to leave the Hulu app!

Beautiful. It's dumb to have them on separate apps.

Not if you watch a lot and need more than one screen unless you can have more than one screen..

What's the deal with Hulu anyway if you have more than Hulu then are you allowed more than one screen?

I watch ESPN + on more than one TV. I think through ESPN app you are allowed 5 screens at the same time.

I have Hulu and I am allowed only one screen at a time.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions

I guess because you pay for one screen only. Hulu has the capability of adding more, so long as you pay for them.

How do you know if an old show streaming on Hulu (St. Elsewhere) is streaming in HD or SD? It doesn’t say anywhere. Or any show for that matter? Thanks.
