Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
I went to rent The Shining on amazon last night, to get ready to watch the sequel this weekend. Was $4 to rent, but they had it on sale for Prime users for only $6.99.
Decent deal on a great flick. |

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Just discovered there are some limitations to the student discount ... no family sharing, no lending library ... and I would lose my 20% discount on diapers. Although my youngest is 19 now (and don’t any of you say it), those first two are dealbreakers. Of course, you can’t learn that until you actually click all the way through and get close to finalizing your request to change to the Student version.
Here is what pisses me off with Amazon ... I am not a high-maintenance customer. But why is it so damned hard to get details and specifics from them on my plan pricing, benefits, and offers they are sending me. Another current example, my wife uses the extra e-book service, costing me another $10/month. I just received an e-mail offer to “resubscribe” at up to a 40% savings ... First, the e-mail says the offer expires July 31, 2019 ... next it does not give me pricing. It says I can get a 6-,12-, or 24-month plan, but to find the actual pricing, I have to click a button that says I authorize them to keep billing me at my normal rate BEFORE they will even show me the pricing. I’ve been a Prime subscriber for ... I don’t even know how many years ... and I have no idea what benefits I can get beyond the ones I use regularly. |
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Well, the Student version doesn’t really need any of those perks. Quick shipping, free music and movie streaming are just about all they’ll need to keep them happy paying for it. But I agree on how they advertise their promos. They’ve always been that way, mostly to keep us in the dark and spend more on it. I’ve never seen anything cut and dry with them on stuff like that. |

These recent posts remind me of one of my favorite Poorly Drawn Lines comic strips, ever:

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Black Moon Rising from 1986 is now on Prime Video.
I haven't seen this in 30+ years. It's actually a nice new HD print. |
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
According to justwatch.com, Banshee S3 & S4 dropped on Prime today. Finally!
Now just need the rest of Strike Back. At least S4 since it started back up. |
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
They need to add the remaining seasons of the Donna Reed Show.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Don't know if any of you are aware, but about 20 James Bond movies are on Prime Video in 4K UHD.
|
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Thanks for the heads up. Now I can finally watch the non-Craig ones in 4K glory.

Are they HDR?

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Anyone heard of SAF3?
The first and only season was added to Prime. It apparently aired in Syndication several years ago. It's from the makers of Baywatch and stars Dolph Lundgren. |

I watched a couple more of the Bond films yesterday, and can also report that there is no 4K UHD version of A View To A Kill on Prime either. The "standard" HD streams still look pretty great to my eyes, I'd say about on par with the Blu-rays of the films which I own. |
Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Not sure if it's been mentioned on the forum yet but if you are a Prime subscriber you can get STARZ for 3 months for 99 cents right now. The dead is dead on the 11th.Good value even if you only end up watching 1 movie a month over the trial period.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
FYI: Expanse season 4 has been released early.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
Prime Video Canada has added The Mentalist, Smallville, Vampire Diaries and Supernatural. I think this is the first time that I have seen The Mentalist in a streaming service in the US or Canada.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
The Bond movies seem to switch services every few months.

I was in the middle of watching these over my holiday break and I went to continue this morning and they are all gone. Why would they only be available for a few weeks?
Looks like 4 Bond movies are now on Netflix and as of right now, some are on Hulu, but Hulu shares the license with EPIX and they were pulled on EPIX. Some of the Craig movies are licensed on Cinemax. I don't get it either how the Bond movies are licensed out. MGM needs to license these out for a multi-year deal, not only a few weeks or months. |

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread
So I've been watching American Gods because of that three month Starz deal posted a while ago. Today I started season 2 and noticed a disclaimer saying that it was leaving STARZ on January 31, 2020. Is STARZ content moving to some other streaming service or something? That seems really weird since it's a STARZ original, I thought.
