Re: The Roku Thread

For the past few weeks, I've been unable to get Spotify on the Roku Premier to play. I can search, see tracks and playlists, but I can't get it to actually play. I've seen where a few other people have had the issue, but no resolution. I've deleted and readded the app, rebooted the device, nothing works. Anyone else come across this, or a suggested solution?

Found out the hard way that while the code is good until 4/20 it must be entered on FN by 3/20. And I was going to use it today.

There's a new $4.99 FandangoNow Rental Credit offer on the Roku side ad. It's from Discover Card.

Claimed it last night! The fine print says it's for a renal, but has anyone successfully used this credit or one like it towards a purchase?

Roku is expanding their voice search feature.

Now Roku has announced that they are expanding voice searches new autoplay feature to more Roku Channels including AHC GO, Animal Planet GO, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Destination America GO, Discovery Life GO, Discovery GO, DIY Network, Food Network, HGTV, Hulu, Investigation Discovery GO, NBC, Science Channel GO, Spectrum TV, Starz, The Cooking Channel, The Roku Channel, TLC GO, Travel Channel, Tubi, and Velocity GO. Roku says additional channels are expected to be added in the coming months.

Roku says for best results, it’s best to include the name of the channel in the voice request, such as, “Play The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu.”

With new voice commands being added with the Roku OS 9.1 update include the ability to say “replay” to go back a few seconds, “turn closed captions on/off” to toggle closed captions, or if you own a Roku TV that has the Fast TV Start feature enabled, and more. You will also now be able to turn the TV display off while streaming select music channels like Pandora, iHeartRadio and TuneIn by saying phrases like “turn display off.”

There's still no standalone app, but the Roku Channel now has Cinemax within it as a subscription option. ( LINK )

Re: The Roku Thread

I wonder who has more Cinemax movies-The Roku Channel or The Amazon Prime Channel?

I was checking Cinemax streaming on-demand(Spectrum) the other day and it only had 146 movies when HBO had 800 movies.

But then they finally pulled Cinemax streaming from my service and paying 9.99 for a stand alone channel seems a bit much when you compare it too other services(Epix is only 5.99 and has a Hell of a lot more content).

Having voice/audio synch issues with my Ultra. I have to restart it when this happens. Fuck...

E Unit 05-08-19 12:54 PM

Re: The Roku Thread

Yeah, that’s semi-common with my Ultra. And it totally blows having to restart it every time.

Re: The Roku Thread

I've noticed occasional glitches with Netflix on my Ultra. The streaming sometimes gets sluggish or buffers. I have to do a restart for it to get back to working properly.

So far I have not been able to find that new FandangoNow ad that The Big Dave mentioned.

If you guys are having technical problems with your Roku, I suggest posting in the official Roku Forum. The Roku tech support people monitor that forum and can offer help or pass on the bug report to the proper department. Sometimes they can push the latest firmware to your device to fix the problem.

Thanks, I'll do that. I guess it would be good to check their forums from time to time.

I don't see anyway to change it, and I'm getting Buffalo, NY channels and I'm in the Philadelphia broadcast area.

This Roku channel won't last long.

Also has Canadian OTA channels.

I noticed the other day - by accident - that the Spotify channel on Roku appears to be working again.
Not sure when that happened.....

Incidentally, several episodes of Hoarders are now on the Roku Channel. They have an A&E bug on them but no commercials during the one I played while trying to get something accomplished.

How do I get rid of something in my feed? Where it tells you that the movie or show you're looking for is now available free, rent, buy, or with sub?
Most things let me delete from my feed but for some reason it keeps wanting me to buy Kids in the Hall episodes for 1.99 each which is not going to happen. I don't see a "remove from watchlist" option.

Re: The Roku Thread

I don't know if this still works https://support.roku.com/article/208756898-my-feed

Unfollow an item
If you no longer wish to receive updates for a movie, TV show, actor or director, you can unfollow the item from Roku Search. Use the instructions above to find the title, actor or director and select Unfollow this.

There is another way to unfollow an item that is unique to movies. Simply find the movie listed in the My Feed list, open the details screen, and select Unfollow this.

After you unfollow a movie, TV show, actor or director, all updates within My Feed will be removed and you will no longer receive new updates for that item.
EDIT: Looks like for Movies, you can do it right from My Feed, but for TV, you have to search for and choose the season, then Unfollow.
