Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Whoa :)
Almost done with OITNB S1. Netflix is getting a ton of awesome programming in there. I love Criminal Minds. I'm done buying BDs and DVDs, OITNB, HoC, CM, House, and The X-Files will take me into the middle of next year at least. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
How often does Netflix pull the plug on tv series? I can think of one-South Park.
There is so much too watch and don't want to start a series that has a lot of seasons only to have Netflix pull it off their website. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
I don't think they'll take it off anytime soon if they just added it, if you're referring to Criminal Minds :)

There is so much too watch and don't want to start a series that has a lot of seasons only to have Netflix pull it off their website. TV series seem to stay on for at least a year. It seems like LOST has been on there since the service started. Unfortunately, thanks to the idiot public raising a massive stink every time they purge titles (something that has to happen), Netflix no longer tells you when stuff is about to expire. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Actually I see what is expiring & often prioritize accordingly. This is via their website. It is often fair advance warning to adjust.
|
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Lost has been taken off before- I think it got put back on just because there were a lot of complaints. I still need to watch it, especially since I bought the Season 4 Blu-Ray at the dollar store recently. Gotta watch the prior seasons and decide if I want to buy those too.

Watched You're Next on Netflix last night and thought it was pretty good but it's the same premise as the movie "Below Utopia" also known as "Body Count" with Justin Theroux, Alyssa Milano, and Ice-T.

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Yeah, I found "You're Next" to be entertaining, but hardly "revolutionary" like some people were saying. "Prepare to have your MIND BLOWN!!!"
|
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
You're Next seems like it's about 15 minutes too long, but the kills were fun.
|
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
After all the hype, I didn't think You're Next was good at all. The acting was horrible almost across the board, and the character were RIDICULOUS in how they would randomly split up, walk in front of windows, or go TO TAKE A NAP even though it's been made clear that the killers can enter the house. I was so busy rolling my eyes that it didn't scare me in the least.
|
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
The acting was about on par with most $1m horror flicks (Saw comes to mind. I think the only one to escape that fate was Insidious). I don't think it was trying to be scary so much as just be violent.

You're Next, though fairly glossy, is probably the kind of thing which would have been shot on grainy 16mm back in the day. I think there's sort of a disconnect between that more intense and straightforward aspect of it, and the postmodern, Scream-style deconstruction it wants to do. Though it isn't overtly self-referential, I think it's trying to play more to a horror-fan crowd who know the genre's tropes and have certain expectations. That's perfectly fine, but I think it's a little torn between the old-fashioned raw quality and more glossy new quality and don't think it can quite reconcile them. That said, I did quite enjoy the movie, and the horror set pieces work pretty well, and have a nicely nasty and gory bite. Not enough Barbara Crampton though ;)

Parenthood season 5
Being Mary Jane season 1 starring Gabrielle Union were both added One note about Being Mary Jane. The original Pilot is a 90 minute movie that is separate from the series. The series itself is 8 episodes. You will need to add them separately. |

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
It's just odd, maybe getting some older viewers?
Netflix pays $900,000 per episode of New Girl, which actually may keep that show afloat an extra season despite horrific ratings. They pay $1.35m per episode of The Walking Dead which is a big draw for them. I just don't see it with Black List  |

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Come on, Netflix. I need Sons of Anarchy season six!
|
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
I'm anxiously awaiting S2 of Arrow
Now if anybody knows when Netflix will have S8 of Psych, please do tell... |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
So I guess I'm gonna have to add Arrow and The Black List sigh
2 eps away from finishing OITNB 1-2 (love it). From only this list, what to watch next? Haven't seen an ep of any. The Wire (I loved that actress as the therapist in OITNB and I was already planning to watch The Wire eventually but her having a big role raised my interest a lot more), House of Cards, The Black List, Arrow, Californication (well did see a few eps of this and love it). I like The X-Files, CSI, and ER. I love Psych but I burned out at the beginning of the second season. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
No Agents of Shield yet. Poop.
|
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
@GatorDeb, The Wire is the best of that bunch, IMHO.

Gonna have to go for The Wire next, thanks :) So excited to see that actress again, she really made an impression on me. Sucks that it's like 60 hours so it's gonna take me like 4 months lol

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Omar's coming.*
When you hear that line for the first time you will be thoroughly hooked. edit: *For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to punctuate the contraction of Omar and Is. An apostrophe was my best guess. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
I tried it once before and quit within 5 minutes. Now I'm mid-way into the first ep, but this time I'm gonna get through at least the first season. Based on every single show I love (X-Files, House, Monk, ER, CSI) this is THE show for me.
Waiting for OITNB therapist to show up..... |
