Special ID (2013), The Immigrant (2013), The Master (2012) and Hitch (2005) were added. I assume most know of The Master and Hitch.

The Immigrant w/ Joaquin Phoenix, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Renner // 87% on RottenTomatoes

I actually really enjoy Hitch, I think it's one of Smitty's better flicks

The Michael Mann's 1986 Red Dragon adaptation Manhunter with Brian Cox as Hannibal was added, so was The Act of Killing: The Director's Cut

Dead in Tombstone is actually not bad for a DTV movie. Production value is decent. It's from the director of the Death Race DTV sequels.

My guess would be late September or October. There has been no announcement otherwise.

ok, thanks. probably a little too late to binge it then (as binge to me is weeks and weeks, especially during school)...

Yeah same here, though I have been crushing my way through The Practice Season 8 (...watching it as Boston Legal Season 0).

It's part of the advertising synergy: Advertise the blu-rays/dvds then a month later release it on Netflix, then Season 5 begins.

i do have the entire season on my DVR, which i will make thru hopefully sometime, but thought i could alleviate some space if it was coming soon to NF.

Against my better judgement, I had this preordered as a blind buy. Just last Friday I thought to myself, "I bet this ends up Netflix really soon and you'll be really pissed you bought it."

Cancelled the order and it looks like I couldn't have been more right. Thanks again Netflix, you've come through for me yet again.

I just checked for a few of these titles and not everything is showing up, so not sure about it

Some of these were added halfway through or near the end of July, but we're going to include them in this roundup anyway since you may have missed them.
The extra ones are from July.

Make sure you check availability dates.

Quite a few good additions. Starting it up with Rounders and Mad Max, and then re-watching Prefontaine (Jared Leto! Didn't know him when I first saw it) and Pumping Iron, and then watching Chaplin for Diane Lane.

Saw American Psycho, Airplane, and Days of Thunder since they were expiring. AP was meh, Airplane was meh+, and I loved DoT. Top Gun with cars! Kinda weird hearing NK with her Aussie accent.

I kept meaning to watch American Psycho again before it expired. Oh well.

I love that movie, it's hilarious.

I'll watch the Justin Bieber thing someday just for a laugh- still pissed that they never issued "Never Say Never" in 3D (why the hell did they make ANOTHER movie about him AFTER that, and only in 2D to boot??)

And I guess Sharknado didn't get pulled after all, but Hobo With A Shotgun did. Having to choose between the 2, I watched Sharknado.

The 4th season of Haven is now on Netflix if you need to catch up.

Season 5 premieres next month on SyFy. It's a 26 episode season FYI.

Low Winter Sun, the cancelled AMC series, is now on Netflix. It's a dark and gritty crime TV show that unfortunately had the disadvantage of being scheduled after the final season of Breaking Bad. Everyone who watched Breaking Bad didn't bother with this show.

I really hope they can add Hateship Loveship soon. It didn't get a bd release and IFC doesn't have a deal with Vudu, so I can't buy it in HDX there. I know they do have a deal with Netflix, but it probably varies from film to film which ones will get carried and how soon.

I don't think that's a disadvantage, it was intended to launch the show. It never gained traction with the audience or critics, though.

Netflix will probably get it in the coming months.

Yeah, the way AMC promoted it was a huge ADVANTAGE, not the other way around.

RichC2 08-13-14 08:13 AM

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread

The only way it's a disadvantage is if you factor in Low Winter Sun being super slow burn after the pumped up pace of the final season of Breaking Bad. But at the same time, it's the closest show in nature to LWS that AMC had outside of The Killing.

DJariya 08-17-14 06:13 PM

Criminal Minds season 1-6 was added

Kind of weird that they didn't add 7 and 8 as well. 9 isn't even out on DVD yet, so I get that won't be available for awhile.

I liked Low Winter Sun and was sad to see it go. However, it ended in such a way that it is one complete story, so I would still recommend watching it.
