My concern is that they charged my credit card on 8/20, even though their email said they weren't going to, for the 3 at home & unlimited in store rentals. When I went to change my plan to 2 at home and unlimited in store rentals it said my next billing date was 9/1/07. Does that mean I paid $19.25 for about 11 days and they are going to charge me for the next month tomorrow?

I'm going to call and see what they say but that doesn't seem right.
Bob

It appears BB automaticaly changed my plan for me. I logged in and it has me at 3 at a time with 5 in store exchanges per month at 17.99. It was at 3 at a time with unlimited in store exchanges plus one coupon for 17.99. Which is now 24.99.

Well, looked at the email I got sometime ago and it states I will be automatically moved to new plan.

My next billing date is tomorrow. I never received an e-mail stating any price changes or of any changes at all to my plan. I'm curious to see what's going to happen with my account tomorrow.

This is how I found out I had no plan (as the email said I will not automatically be renewed but had to choose a new plan).

Go to My Account and check what your current plan is and see what your next billing date is. Mine's was N/A but now reflects mid September and 5 store swaps. Which, of course, means I don't have unlimited swaps for half a month of which I paid for.

Methinks there's going to be a class action lawsuit one day. Not getting what you paid for.

On the 26th/27th I had an issue with them (they stopped mailing me movies for a couple of weeks). So they offered to send me an extra 2 movies for 2 weeks, and then go back to my normal account......though I didn't realize that they 'changed' me to their "new" pricing plan....with the 5 rentals. I went and checked my e-mail and sure enough, they slipped in there "New" plan, no cost in change, etc.

Fuckers.

Dear Patrick,

We want to let you know about some changes to our BLOCKBUSTER Total Access™ subscription plans. This information is provided for your reference only – your subscription plan will not be affected by these changes.

Beginning July 26, 2007, there will be a price increase on your current unlimited plan. We will also begin to offer plans which limit the number of in-store exchanges available each month.

As a preferred customer, your plan will not change at this time. Please continue to enjoy your exclusive subscription plan, including no monthly limit on free* movie rentals or discounted game rentals when you exchange in-store, at today's price – far below the published rate available to new subscribers.

At any point, you can log in and review your current subscription plan or see all available plans. Keep in mind that if you want to change your subscription plan at any point after July 26, 2007, your new plan will be subject to prices and terms available at that time.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Your Friends at BLOCKBUSTER®

My billing date is today and evidently there have been no changes made to my account. I'm on the 4 out at a time, unlimited in-store for $23.99 just like I have been for the past several months.

After several more emails after the one I posted here to cutomer care somebody at customer care gave me a response I could live with:

Thanks for the reply. I understand how upset you are that your account was cancelled. To make it up to you, I've applied two weeks free of "Total Access--3 at a time unlimited online rentals and 5 in-store exchanges per month." Your account is now on Pending status. Please accept the email notification to you as to the terms and conditions of Blockbuster Online sent to you to reactivate your account. I hope this information helps, please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

Respectfully,

Aaron
Customer Care Associate
Blockbuster Online

I still think I'm going to cancel right before the 2 weeks is over and try netflix for a while.

I will say this.....besides the "pissing off the customer" factor, someone over at BB was smart enough to select 5, which helps keep the 'average' customer, and remove the "over-users". I go there enough I'll probably stick around, even though it pisses me off. Once I run out of decent main stream movies, i'll change to NetFlix for their niche films.

Remember the "Devil Customers" of Best Buy from a couple years ago....BB and BB....coincidence?!!

I'm back to Netflix. I questioned my decision to switch to BB and I'm glad they made up my mind for me.

I still haven't received an email from Blockbuster regarding the new 'plans' (unless I just missed it). My renewal date is scheduled for 9/17 and I'm currently on the 1-out at a time with unlimited in-store exchanges plus coupon for $9.99 a month. I think I'll just wait and see what happens, but doubt that I will re-subscribe if they try and pull a fast one on me like some of you guys have experienced. (Denying your exchanges in-store because you were over your limit for the 'calendar month'.) Bullshit.

So far, I haven't experienced any disruption in service and things have actually been going quite well. Do you think it's possible that some of us may slip through the cracks and be able to continue with our current plans? Wishful thinking I suppose.

same here.

it's nice when your queue really does ship the next "available" title instead of skipping 10 "available" titles like blockbuster queue does

If my store had HD/BD discs IN-STORE to rent, I may keep Blockbuster.com, but I may switch to Netflix after my next promo month of $5.

well, so i basically ignored the e-mail they sent out about changing my plan... and it's past their deadline and i've already been billed for this month, and my account still shows:

Your current plan...BLOCKBUSTER Total Access Premium $17.99 / month (plus taxes)
3 at-a-time, unlimited mailings
unlimited in-store free movie/discounted game exchanges
+1 FREE bonus Movie or Game Rental E-Coupon / Month
Next Billing Date: October 03,2007

so i'm still on my same plan? anyone else have this happen? or do you think in a week it'll change to their 5-exchange-only plan? i'm a bit surprised...

If the new coupon is already up you should probably print it/use it while you can

Interesting... several of the CS people told me they were getting rid of the coupons.

Just curious. Did any get the free coupons?

I am requesting 2 free coupons because 3 DVDs returned at store on Wednesday and only 1 DVD shipped so far.

Still waiting for their response and it's been more than 4 hours.

I know my store does....although, they send me an automated call if it is a week late saying it is due on such and such date.

Also, Blockbuster.com has greatly improved. If you rent a disc in store and you have it in your queue, it will ask you if you want to remove it from your queue now (no duplicates basically). It became "smart". They also list all the stores that carry Blu-Ray now.

I haven't visited this thread in awhile, but I recently got an email that surprised me. My e-coupons for free game/movie rentals were always good from the 8th of one month til the 7th of the next month (although they were pretty lenient about those dates). So I assumed that when 9/8/07 came around, I wouldn't be getting my e-coupons anymore. However, I received an email saying my e-coupons were ready to print, and sure enough, I'm still getting my 2 e-coupons per month, for the time being at least. They did, however, switch me from 3 at-a-time with unlimited in-store exchanges to 3 at-a-time with 5 in-store exchanges.

Either way, I'm glad I got my e-coupons this month, and I hope I keep getting them.

Random question here:

- Do you need a separate membership card if you want to rent at different stores? I realized another store has Blu-Ray, so I want to start renting there. Just curious if I need TWO Blockbuster cards now.

I don't believe you do. When my wife and I were dating, she had a Blockbuster near her house but no membership. I had a membership for my local store. I'm pretty sure I walked into the store, explained the situation and they set up my membership so I could rent at both stores without using a different card. Give the other store a call and find out for sure though.
